    return or one way?

      It's $340 for one way. We need to use a trick to choose "One way" as the sale is intended for Japan.

        Sounds dodgy to me…

          This is OzBargain, we are ruthless to get the best price… or in some cases no price.

  • They had a sale only $480 return.

    • that was only from australia though. This one is much more useful for me.

      • Travel date is longer for this one.

  • Can somebody tell me what the average price for a return trip is? That is, not during a sale.

    Also, anybody know anything about visas to Japan? What types are there, and what's the specifics about each of them?

    I've plans to live there for at least 6 months to a couple of years — after I've graduated. I'll want to find some kind of job there to sustain myself for that time. What could I do besides the JET program (in the chance that I may not make it)?

    • If you are under 30, you can get a working holiday visa, then just get a job after you arrive. The visa is 6 months and can be renewed twice. Average price return is 800 - 1400 when not on sale.

    • 1) About a thousand dollars

      2) You can get a 90-day visa on arrival. I second the suggestion about a waahori (working holiday visa).

      3) Realistically, any job is going to involve you being some sort of ELT, unless you have some very good Japanese skills. Forget about the major metropolitan areas, they're all full up there. I second the suggestion about getting a working holiday visa. In these economic times, no employer is going to want to bother with you without a suitable visa.

      The economy in Japan at the moment is terrible. Young kids with degrees handing out tissue packets on the streets because there are no jobs, more homeless people than ever before.

      If I had to work there at the moment, I would go out to the boondocks in Shikoku somewhere and see if any of the schools out there needed an ELT. Just my 2c.

    I'd have thought brucefromaustralia would have had something to say about this deal. I think they may be in Japan right now…

    Edit: no wonder.
