When you go back on saturday, make sure to ask for that same nice lady. be nice in return :)

  • I've never seen mattresses at Myer. I can't see any on their website, either. Is it only specific stores that sell them?

    • Yeah there are some stores that won't sell particular things

I have spent the last month or so mattress shopping, so here is my One Weird Tip.

The thing is, the 'retail price' that mattresses get marked at are absolute garbage. Without even asking, the sales people will knock a minimum of 35-40% off. This applied everywhere we went - Myer, Sleep Doctor, Harvey Jerkoffs, Snooze, 40 Winks.

The one we bought was marked at $7200, and as soon as we lay on it, the sales guy pulled out a calculator and offered it at $4300. We ended up with another whack off that, too, without much effort. It's borderline misleading and deceptive conduct.

So, in reality, a 45% off sale is barely more than normal. Don't believe the hype.

I don't know what shocks me more, that there are mattresses advertised for $7200, or that you would still spend $4000 on one?

I used to think that too until i dropped 4g on my mattress. Its the best ever. I thought my old one was adequate but it's nothing compared to my current. After all, its where you spend such a large portion of your life - it may as well be comfortable

Different people with different levels of income and different spending preferences spend different amounts on things.

      Shocking :)

Overall, $4k (or $5k if you go ensemble) over ten years is practically nothing. You can get something pretty great for $2300ish (king size, non ensemble), though. You are spending what, 25-30,000 hours on it? Drink one less coffee a week and the difference vanishes.

Also, after sleeping on a piece of crap for the last ten years, trust me, it was a very easy decision.

    • i am in the market of new mattress. since you have d

Depends on your maths, I suppose you could buy a $1-2k mattress that you spend 6-10 hours in each day that'll last 10 years and then go and spend $50k-200k++ on a car that you renew every 5-10 years that you spend 1-2 hours/day in.

  • Nice. Might go check this out.

P.s. Anyone used these guys? http://www.ozmattress.com.au/ Have been contemplating the 'Supra'. :)

  • Guys and girls, please shop at Myer because the boss is blaming everything out there for Myer not doing well.
