Don't want to put a dampener on things, but safety comes before bargains…..

Worth knowing before you pounce on this deal.

Probably kinda like pointing on national road toll figures on a new car deal and saying "worth noting you can die if you drive a car".
It's actually a good deal if you've wanted to be able to solo jump - irrespective of the (presumably known) gravity-related dangers involved.

Yes, this deal is a static-line jump, NO freefall despite the picture.
        Not especially dangerous.

You still can badly f*ck up the landing ;)

To use your example I'd prefer to buy the safer car, than the one that's proven not to be. My comment was information only, not scare tactic, but it pays to be informed when you are hurling yourself out of a plane. Personally, I'd rather go the non-bargain route with my life on the line and shop around, do research.

This being a "bargain" has nothing to do with it not being safe mate. I've read the article and nowhere does it say that the Skydiving company in question is to blame for the accident that occurred. Two experienced jumpers got tangled up just before landing. One died, the other got injured. It's a risky sport, it happens. Too bad this company has it on it's name.

I do agree that a little investigation before buying is the smart thing to do, then again, i do that with pretty much any bargain i come across.

        • Thanks for pointing out, it is from the same airfield, not sure about the company though.

Also from the description it did sound like human error, rather than equipment failure,
          It's good to know anyway,
          Thanks for the link

Hence why they say "Once in a lifetime experience" in the description.

  • Yeah, yeah, I'd need one in NSW.
Any recommendations on skydrive training around Sydney? Usually they are really expensive… :(

Join the Army, become a commando and you'll get paid to do it.

  • it takes 4-6 static line jumps before you can get your first freefall from memory
probably better to do a tandem with a big freefall

If it doesn't work, can I get a refund?

  • I don't want to die….

    • Just keep breathing…

    • I've got bad news for you…

    • …hide under the bed. It's safer.

  • My question would be how many have died jumping down at Tooradin,Vic ?
Been a few although more the experienced free fall jumpers.
