Note: Thanks to kaizer who confirmed that promo code worked for $100 credit. According to jd code will expire tonight.

At the risk of being flamed by Voda"fail" haters, I'm posting this due to the seemingly high interest in the galaxy note 3 and its accompanying galaxy gear smart watch

Vodafone is currently offering a combined package of phone+watch & plans, calls + data on pre-order (before 3rd of oct) for a range of their plans, $60 and above, both 12 and 24 months. You can also sign up for the phone only

Generic, starter link here :
http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/android/samsung-galaxy-n…

The shortest plan available is a 12month $60 plan plus $52 repayments for both the phone and the watch. This gives you $700 worth of calls, unlimited voda to voda, unlimited standard and international texts, 1.5gb data (total $1344 over the 12 months)

For an extra $5, you can upgrade the plan to have unlimited national calls (total $1404 over 12 months)

Of course, there are other plan options and combinations, but I thought the least possible time with Vodafone would be favoured by most.

Plus signing up and redeeming the offer through this website may offer a cash back of $96 or $120 depending on the total plan value chosen.
http://www.qwibble.com.au/vodafone-handsets-contracts

To put this into perspective, the handset is expected to retail from $870-$~1000 and the smart watch $300$~370, meaning a total of anywhere from $1170-$1370. Using the above plans as the price reference, and taking the minimum outright cost of $1170, you are only really paying a TOTAL of $174-$234 for the plan/s themselves.

$1344 - 1170 = $174 or $1404 - 1170 = $234. <— total plan cost over 12 months…meaning…
$174 / 12 = $13.50 or $234 / 12 = $19.50 <— monthly plan cost

Additionally, if you are successful with the cash back offer, you would be refunded $96 (for the meeting the first minimum requirement), meaning a TOTAL cost of $78-$138 for the plan for the 12 months (a monthly cost of $6.50 or $11.50 respectively)

Of course, customers currently with Vodafone could also call their Vodafone and see what other sweeteners can be offered. Maybe even if you are not currently with Vodafone, you might still want to call up and try?

Yes, Vodafone may be considered "bad", but it works for some. Perhaps the pricing on these plans is good enough to tempt some over (or back) to their network? And yes, the recommended retail price will most likely drop after some months, but for those interested in having it first, here and now, these plans may offer good value, especially when you factor in the outright purchase of these devices, plus the cost of paying for your current plan or buying your recharges.
This is especially true for the $65+$52 unlimited option vs $1170(/12=$97.50)+$40(?)unlimited prepaid options via boost/amaysim which offer more data, but not 4g speeds. You can always add data packs on top if you need.

Anyways, massive apologies for the long post. I hope i got all the maths and facts right. its late =)
And just to clarify in advance, I am not a rep, just hoping this can be of benefit to someone out there.

Have already signed up for the deal on a 24 month contract. I have been with Vodafone since 2009 now, was 3 before that. Didn't have any major problems.

We did have network issues in Gold Coast when we moved from Melbourne, they offered me 3 months free rental to give them a chance to fix the problem. Because everyone at that time was opting to get out of their contracts. I told them, I have paid for a service, and cancelling my contract just gives you an easy way out of this. I will be on my contract but I expect the service I am paying for. After the free third month, the customer service rep gave me 50% off on the next 3 months rental. I was on a $70 plan…and this was quite a bit of savings.

For now, I don't have any problem with Vodafone reception around the major cities. Places I don't get a reception (when am out riding my motorbikes on some random woopwoop land or when I am out for a 4WD trip) others on Optus don't get reception either. Then there are some zones even Telstra's coverage doesn't work (inside the National Park areas, specially near Bateman's Bay).

Telstra plans are not cheap, and their monthly allowance does not include text and calls to international numbers. For the value of money I don't see any problem with Vodafone.

As for people asking about what to do with the Gear. Among many other things, I will be mainly using it as a bluetooth kit while driving my car. The S Voice will help navigate the phone and make calls etc, and I can receive and make calls and talk using the watch's mic and speaker.

I already owned a Note 1 and Note 2, so I actually love the size of these devices.

The watch plus phone is a really good deal with this current offer.

  • +1

Thanks for posting, I pulled the trigger, my logic
    $1344 over 12 months
    -$96 cashback
-$300 selling the watch on ebay
    -$115 odd selling my nexus
= $833 for an aus stock note 3 over 12 months on a 4g plan, even if the reception isn't great it's still a win

    • What is the probability you can get $300 for the watch? I guess watch is useless without the phone.

      • bit of a guess, when it opens up to more phones than the note 3 I expect there to be some demand as a gimicky christmas present
Cost of $369 from Samsung, dont open it (assuming it comes in a seperate box), hopefully knocking $70 off is enough to sell it

    • Good point.
      I went with this calculation:

Current plan $55 per month… gives me $900 credit
      New plan $60pm + $15 for phone and gear = $75 for $700 credit

So I am paying $15 extra over 24 months, = $360 total for Note 3 + Gear. The Gear alone will be around that price if purchased outright, but loosing $200 call credit.

If I take in the price of the sim only plan which matches the new $700 credit plan, then its the $45 sim only plan. Based on that I am paying $30 extra each month for the phone and gear, which is $720 total in 24 months. That's less than the outright price of just the phone alone, so am getting the Gear for free.

  • +1

Not sure how this is a deal. If you want just sim only, go with Live connected or whatever else is out there and then buy the phone outright. Surely would be cheaper than 1344 for the year. Plus you won't be with Vodafail.

    • Cheapest price for the phone outright is $869 + $379 for the Gear + $19.90 per month on LC ($238.80 over 12 months) = $1486.80. How is that cheaper?

      • For those who don't need the watch it work out cheaper

        • Not necessarily, in this deal you're paying $120 for a watch that will sell for $379. Offload it on eBay for $300 and you're up another $180.

        • +5

Then you have eBay fees, time spent listing, posting AND being stuck with Vodafone. So if you're happy to save 100 bucks or so in a year for that, all the power to you.

    • +1

Its probably more for those who can't afford to drop 1k on this deal to buy outright. Really though, if you are like me you probably only spend around $100/year on mobile phone calls. lol Actually that what it works out to be with telstra just taking advantage of sim packs. Poor Australia post got hit this month, but now I have enough to last me till 2015. :D And at $9.50 a month I can't really argue. lol

  • I successfully get $100 discount with the rep, plus $96 cash back, $1344 - $196 = $1140, not bad deal for me, the phone and the watch already cost that much.

    • That's a good price! Did you sign up as a new customer or upgraded your existing Vodafone plan?

    • +2

how did you get $100 discount from the rep plus $96 cash back from qwibble?

    • I'll sign up 1 if I can get the same deal as you.

  • -1

    .

  • Shame the Note 3 doesn't have the FM radio.

    • +3

      Or a tape deck :(

      • Laser disc is an optional accessory I think

        • +1

          does it play 78s?

  • I got the $100 discount from the rep as well but not sure about the $96 qwibble as i have finished the transaction on-line via the "Click here to visit this merchant & earn cashback!" link from qwibble but it still says that i have No transactions currently tracked on my Earnings page.

    • Did you ask for the discount with the online rep or rep over the phone when you ordered? Did you also try the code 50chatcredit at checkout?

      • I believe voda dont have online chat.

@jd, how did you get the $100 discount? did you call them and they give you code or something?

        • I was browsing the page, then a windows prompted and asked me if i want to connect to a live chat, i entered the chat and tell the rep that some of friends called voda and got further discount on the phone, and wondering if she can do it for me, she asked the manager, came back with $50 discount, i said i will sign up immediately if you could do $100 she asked her manager again and finally i got what i wanted, it's a code and the rep is quite good, she said she will wait for me while im signing up to get the order number so she can ensure that the credit will be applied.
Make sure to talk nicely to them..that's my trick..it mays aslo depend on the manager's mood, its like $95.6/month over 12months after $196 (cash back and discount). Good luck guys.

        • +3

Same as superjv11, I was on the order page and the live chat kicked in. I posted my question there to see if I could get any discount and Mark R checked with his manager and gave me the code to get the $100 credited to my first bill.
Chat with them and ask for it, I am sure they will give it to you, not sure if the code works for other though. Mine was 100webchat and been advised it will expire tonight.

          Good luck

        • So the chat pop-up came up in Vodafone's sale page? Or Qwibble's?

          Edit:
Tried going via Qwibble, and the sales chat popped up. Spoke to Michael B, but he can't offer discounts to existing customers, asked me to call and check the upgrades team.

  • My experience with Vodafail hasn't been that bad honestly. They sent me a brand new S2 in 3 days when mine started to have issues after 12 months. They even gave me a discount today when I upgraded to this 12 months contract on $60 plan. I hope Note 3 is as kick ass as I'm expecting it to be.

    • So I am the only one who ordered the upgrade online and didn't ask for a discount? :|

      • I ordered on the phone and didn't ask for a discount but the Rep told me to wait while he asked his manager if I were eligible for a discount (Good Guy Rep). I didn't get a $100 discount though. It is just $36.

        • if you just insist asking for more, im sure you can get at least $50 as the rep told me $50 applies for 12months, if you lucky you may get $100.

        • Well I already got the order confirmation SMS so not sure if I can call them again and ask for a further discount.

      • No

  • -1

I know that call costs don't matter greatly with included minutes but still… "The cost of a two minute standard national voice call is $2.36"

  • Just got new price

    Galaxy Note3 + Gear, $899

  • +2
  • Haha topbuy has a dodgy reputation, I don't think I could trust giving them $900..

  • Nice find OP!
Hey guys in T&C section of the Vodafone plan $65 RED on 12 month(same for $60 plan) for "Samsung GALAXY Note 3 with GALAXY Gear"

"Min month spend is $5 for 24 month plans or $10 for 12 month plans (on top of monthly mobile plan and device costs)"

So is it extra for the watch?

    • Yes, compared with the plan without watch, it adds $120 in both 12 or 24 month plan.

  • Can anyone provide me with a review of Vodafail's 850mhz 3g network? appears to have good coverage but not idea of speeds..
at the moment i'm with TPG (optus) 3G.

  • im not getting my qwibble activation email … ????

  • Emailed them asking for a discount on my plan since every one is getting it….naah, was told every customer and their deal is different. :\

    • +1

You win some, you lose some

  • 100webchat

The code posted by JD seems to work. $100 credit shows in the cart once entered.

Screen shot, just in case http://i.imgur.com/2vYgWFq.jpg

Thanks for adding it to the main description, guess more people can see it that way

    • That $100 makes all the difference

  • Does anyone know if the phone will be network locked to Voda?

    • +2

More likely it will be locked to Voda but from my experience, you can unlock it right on day 1 free of charge even you are still on the contract. I have unlocked at least 4 phones from Voda before. It usually has a URL on the box for you to unlock. Try this https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…

  • Hi guys,

I ordered with $100 credit coupon. There are couple of questions:

    1. I have not seen the transaction is recorded in Qwibble, do you have the same? I read on qwibble and it says may take 14 days for the merchant to report the transaction and I can only log a ticket after that if there is no record made.

    2. How does the $100 credit work?

    Thanks a lot guys

    • same ordered with 100webchat but in qwibble it doesnt show any transaction…?

      • Have you sorted it out to get the transaction tracked? Mine is still not tracked and I am in the process of contacting Qwibble.

  • If it is a new connection don't forget to ask for 5%discount if you have a RAC membership, plus another 5% off if it is the second number under the same account. I know it is not much but better than nothing.

    • Oh i have racv membership, who should i follow up to get 5% discount, qwibble or vodafone?

      • You have to email or call vodafone to get both 5% discounts (stackable but only on monthly access not phone cost) manually added to your account. Most of the sales rep never heard of it so you need to pull out the RAC website to show them. Honestly you get what customer services you pay for so be prepared to spend hours on the phone or better you email them.

  • +1

In relation to using the 100webchat voucher code when ordering through the quibble website, did any notice the following clause on the quibble page?

"Please note that Members should only use voucher codes listed on Qwibble. If you use voucher codes or gift vouchers that are not listed on Qwibble your cashback may not track or may be declined."

  • grrrr…more comments I read in this thread, more it pisses me off for not being able to get any discount on the 24 month plan. :\

  • I still haven't received email from qwibble since I sign up…. anyone?

    • Same.. Been trying to resend many times but still nothingg

  • I ordered one phone and qwibble gave me two of the $96..don't tell me that i will get 2 of the $96 cash back from qwibble and $100 credit to my first invoice from Voda. Awesome deal.

    Your latest earnings activity

$96.00 from Vodafone Handsets - Contracts tracked* on 26/09/2013
$96.00 from Vodafone Handsets - Contracts tracked* on 25/09/2013

    • Even though I didn't get the $100 credit (even though I called them) or qwibble $96 cashback. I still got $87 waived from my current contract plus $36 off the contract basket value. So total cost for me is $1221. Not much savings as compared to other bargainerz but better than nothing.

    • Got quibble set up and everything, but order wasn't tracked… Anyone found out how to solve this? Is it just a matter of just waiting for it to show up?

      • @fire, did it show up now? Please let us know when it shows up. I got one and still does not show after 2hrs of waiting. Perhaps tomorrow.

I just visited my earnings in Qwibble. It is showing $96 now but still under the pending column. There are other columns like added, validated, received, paid and declined columns showing. A good sign…

        • tomy, did you get email verification when you sign up qwibble?

        • Yes on the same night i registered. I got no issue with it.

        • yeah it showed up late last night, payment due for november

        • @fire, how did you know that it is due for payment by November? Did you get an advice from them? At the moment, it is only showing as $96 for me.

  • The code is still working. But didn't get 5% off for the second number under the same account even after checked with the rep.

  • Arg…. im so tempted, but im locked in with Optus till may next year. T_T
Never used Vodafone, but the prices look very attractive.
Ozbargain find me a bargain for it outright. =P

  • oh man..i guess i will be bumping into a lot of people wearing Galaxy gear with their Massive Note 3 in there bag or purse..

  • If the Australian handset turns out to be sim region restricted (like the European and US ones are), who will be seeking refunds from vodafone?

    • Didn't Obama try to ban the service providers in US from locking the phones to regions or networks?

      • Here is an article mentioning the European and US restrictions

        http://gigaom.com/2013/09/26/seriously-samsung-sorry-europea…

Don't know about the Obama US situation.

        • Thanks for the read. Absolutely outrageous and this is sure to impact sales if news gets wide spread. Hopefully this is a test case and won't become the norm for devices because this is certainly a backwards step.

To think I was happy the other day about Optus's decision to unlock all iOS 7 devices from being locked to their network thinking that providers are starting to get more common sense and now it's a manufacturer helping them be more draconian.

        • Vodafone has not locked devices for over 12 months.
          iPhone 5
          iPhone 5c
          iPhone 5s
          iPhone 4S
          Galaxy note 2
          Galaxy s4
          Galaxy s4 active

Etc… All unlocked out of the box.

This link has further info about the region locks. Clear as mud though?

  • OzBargained? Deal is no longer available….

  • Yeah where the hell has the deal gone?

  • Not there anymore (Note 3 + Galaxy Gear Watch). Good thing i was able to get one last night.

  • Offer not available any more….

  • I got the 80 dollar plan over 12 months which includes 2.5gb of data a month.

    124 dollars a month for 12 months equals $1488.

I used 100 credit and have $120 tracked with qwibble bringing it down to $1268.

My original plan was $919 outright from telstra then a $40 telstra prepaid cap. That's $1399 with no gear included.

  • In store only now?

  • Getting a bit nervous about Vodafail now…
We have spoken 3 times (plus an email) to correct a simple address detail, finally done now and it was delaying processing my application.
The last guy said the ETA is 30th October for the phone, I said the order advised shipping on 3rd, he was very defensive and said he is just reading whats on the order (must be used to getting yelled at, I wasn't yelling either)
They keep mentioning the note but never the gear, I ordered it when the gear deal was available online, hoping I get both and don't have to call and complain
Will find out soon I guess

  • -3

Vodfone is truly stingy, both Galaxy gear and discount code gone in 24 hours….on a Sunday.

Yes I am whinging about a deal that I didn't get, STINGY VODAFONE……

    • The deal wasn't vodafones lol.

  • -1
    • I am guessing that has now changed to Estimated shipping 3rd, Estimated delivery 6th?
Till they actually ship it and add a consignment number, those dates are going to jump around.

      • I placed my order over the phone on the evening of 27th Sep and system gave me an estimated shipping of 5th Oct with Estimated delivery 10th.

Last night the system updated itself to est shipping 3rd, est delivery 6th, so at least it's heading in the right direction (for me).

        • Mine showed shipping 3rd and delivery 6th. Today the delivery has been updated to 7th.

        • +1

Was showing 3rd shipping 6th delivery till afternoon. Now its showing 7th delivery. :|

Hope they don't start charging me for phone repayment before they even deliver the phone. I already received an email from them asking me to how am I enjoying my 'new gadget'. Told them I only have a PDF print out…as my new gadget. :\

        • Well they started charging me the day my plan was approved, not sure if that applies to existing vodafone customers only. If you are a new customer, it might start from the day your number is activated on their network.

        • Am an existing customer. But I am not going to pay them for a phone which I still don't have in my hand. What if the phone is indefinitely delayed for a month, then I will pay them a month's phone repayment without owning the said device. :|

        • +1

          Existing customers:
          Plan change immediate.
Handset repayments: when the device ships.

          New customers:
Plan and handset charge start when device ships.

        • My delivery tracking just updated.

          Estimated shipping 3 Oct
Estimated delivery 3 Oct (from 7 Oct).

          Are they insta-posting? lol.

        • They seemed to figure out how to use the teleporting system.

        • We might have it by tomorrow but again its Vodafone so you can never be sure.
