I tried Mezzmo (trial) and it seems to connect the best for me with my PC + External HDD and PS3 over EoP with a great range of features in comparison to PS3 Media Server, Serviio and WMP. Mezzmo seems to play all formats just fine. May be useful for those in a similar situation where you've tried everything and nothing works.       It isn't better than XBMC, but they are for different purposes.

      XBMC doesn't really help if you are looking to stream to a PS3.

          i just use a web browser but there are other options as well

          Im using plex client on samsung tv and it's free, you can also play your media directly from the browser. There's also an app available for iOS and android but i'ts not free.

    I'll stick with Serviio, been using that for couple years, streaming to my LG Smart TV and 2x Xbox's and that's FREE :)

    So I'm currently using Serviio for DLNA. I have a minor issue with it not playing the last few minutes of the show it's streaming, so I'm looking for an alternative. I mainly use it to stream to the TV. Any recommendations on XBMC or Plex? I believe both do the job I want (DLNA steaming to TV) and are free?

    Mezzmo is awesome, have been using it for the last couple of years. It can stream to every device and media type I have thrown at it. Best part was that it can stream from different sources, for me, I have external hard drive, NAS, 2nd PC, and it all comes up into one folder. Works perfectly with my Samsung TV's without a hitch. Well worth the $17.67
