There was a voucher/code for the same deal (that I ignored) at the Coles/Shell servo in Vic this afternoon, so the deal is not limited to NSW only (but I don't know if the code is).

  • This isnt limited to NSW, I saw flyers at the counter of Coles Express in Victoria today advertising the same thing!

  • Are the online prices the same as in store?

    Cheers

    • mostly the same, except some particular items on sales in-store which you never know unless going into a local Coles

    • I dont think so… Although I've nvr purchased from Coles Online, but the price of Woolworths Online usually slightly expensive then instore

      • really? Whenever I have done a random spot check on items I ordered the previous week online when I've been in store the following week they are usually the same price.

  • hope the coles online website improves soon - woolworths' is better atm imo

    • We have ordered many times from both.
The new Coles website isn't live where we are, but after punching in another postcode you can surf it. Only been on it very briefly, but - even after all this time - it still seems to lack the main reason most of our orders go to Woolworths. Looks like you still can't amend the delivery day or time without cancelling the whole order. You have to start again from scratch (losing all locked-in specials in the process.)

For the benefit of others, most online Coles prices are - as others have mentioned - the same or close to instore prices, but, at least relative to our shopping list, there are usually more specials on the Woolworths site. In most weeks, you can usually offset the other price 'issues' on the Woolworths site.

The issues are that W's prices online are not just slightly, but significantly higher than instore. On our basket of groceries, about 8%.
Our orders always come to over $300, so delivery fee isn't an issue for us (sliding-scale to zero at 300), but both Woolworths and Coles do tend to go to town on fruit and veg prices.
Presumably the rationale is, that in a given week when people are ordering online, that they are going to be clueless about instore prices. Wrong, in our case.

Woolworths are again worse than Coles in this respect, with some real shockers at times. Awhile back, for weeks and weeks on-end, Woolies had kiwi fruit for 96 cents each…
As a general rule, you can expect - from both supermarkets - things like mangos to end up being at least a dollar more, relative to instore, at any given point during the summer months.

If we place an order with Coles before the expiry, we'll have try the delivery code. We haven't received an email as yet. Thanks, OP.

    • Just did it today - free delivery worked - saved myself $12.

Judging from comments on other sites, don't order free delivery, and order as many specials as you can. The prices seem to be more than in the store for many items, but the specials seem good enough.

The Coles site with the Shopping List function seems to work well. Plus you can pay using AMEX which is good for those of us which FF programs.
