      Edited description.

      • Thank you! Clearly I am too bone idle to bother with a proper description. Thank god JV didn't get there first :-)

  • I have an Amex card and I don't get notified of these promotions. How did you find out about it?

      • +1

Yes, but are you notified via email or must you keep going back there to check the site?
I used to receive email notifications.

I already receive their emails about deals of the week.

      • BTW, I am unable to 'login' or 'register' (top RH corner) on this site with Firefox.
        Is it just me?

        • +1

happened to me as well. I even want to register my card on other deal . not working… Anyone can help, please?

    • +2

      Through Ozbargain!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Travelling later this year so will work out well :)

  • Need to specify in title AMEX only

  • I'm traveling in a couple months but limit of ~4000 isn't a lot. Any way to check if the promo is still valid just before you make a purchase?

    • register your card now.

    • Register your card right this second (The 4,000 limit is based on Registrations, not purchases). It is then valid until March 2014.

      • Thanks guys - I did of course register my card first and ask the question after :)

I might have misunderstood, but I thought that AMEX would accept all registrations and then only honour the first 4000 transactions that meet the criteria. (So if you spent over $100 on Amex but were the 4001st transaction… bad luck). But maybe I'm just being cynical.

        • More optimistic than cynical:)

Amex is pretty smart to offer limited registrations and giving a certain time period for spending. If it were to work as you described it will take a lot longer for these registrations to compute, and AMEX is guaranteed to lose $12000AUD in this promotion.

I would hazard a guess to think only 1000 out of 4000 of these registrations would be redeemed in reality, as people tend to forget about it over time.

Thanks OP! Going to Thailand in November flying Thai air from this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117135
Will be claiming TRS on my laptop bought from this deal : http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117765

    I love Ozbargain :)

    • +1

Be sure to declare the laptop on your way back in.

      • If I declared would I have to pay the GST back? :(

        • If the value is more than the ($1000?) duty free allowance, then duty and GST may be payable.
And if you don't declare it, be prepared to answer the question "Where is it?" and for any search that may happen.

just ignore roughana who is sort of trolling.

        • I'm not.

        • +1

I just read through the custom's website, I think roughana is right. Also just spoke to my colleague and apparently her luggage was searched because she claimed on a Macbook.

        • lol

        • did she travel alone? cause you know give it to a friend/partner to put in their luggage

trs is based on per person

        • GENERAL GOODS: Inbound allowance for all travellers.
Each person is permitted to enter Australia with: A$900 (for adult travellers 18 years or over), or A$450 (for travellers under 18 years and aircrew) worth of goods (including gifts, souvenirs, cameras, electronic equipment, leather goods, jewellery, watches and perfume concentrate, sporting goods, but excluding alcohol and cigarettes) obtained overseas or purchased in Australia on a duty/tax free basis.

This concession level applies to accompanied goods only, imported in carry-on or checked baggage, or purchased at an Arrivals Duty Free store. Provided importations and purchases stay within the maximum limits stipulated above, they may be imported free from duty and/or taxes. If the maximum limit is exceeded in a category, duty and tax is payable on the entire value or volume of that particular category of goods.

    • hahah i'm in the same boat, even my amex card is from a ozbargain deal!!
      WIN!

  • registered!

  • How are the prices of these places?

    • +1

Prices are average and the major -VE is buying online means no flirting with the perfume ladies :(

  • +1

Makes the Pokemon 3DS XL from this deal effectively $195

  • will this credit apply if you're going from Sydney and stopping over in Gold Coast first before flying over to Japan ?? The pick up of goods would be in Sydney.

    • I doubt it. I believe the pick up area would be inside the international departure terminals

  • Registered. Thanks OP

  • Registered too - I suppose the immediately best thing to buy would be alcohol? Maybe 2 good bottles of whisky or something, effectively bringing them down to $35 a bottle, when they probably retail for about $60-70 outside?

Had a look at the electronics, nothing overly special, especially when you go to the higher price ranges - unless there's something that's around the $100 mark, then the added 30% off would make it a really good deal..

  • Perfect!

    Cheers.

  • Do you have to show your card when you pick it up? ie can i purchase on behalf of someone else who is travelling and they can pickup "their" order paid with my card?

    • The store account that is used to place the order must match the traveller - including passport number.
The payment may be able to be from a different cardholder name. I'm looking at this as well, but have not proceeded that far yet to check it.

    • Orders must be placed before 2pm if collection is desired for the following day.

As well as passport number, they require flight number, full name, pickup date and number of people travelling in the party.

  • -1

Well we better apply for an "Amex card" right away to take advantage of this deal.

  • Doesn't seem great because F1rst's prices are easily >30% more than the prices at airports in overseas. They don't have a minimum spend either…

  • Registered and will travel overseas between Jan and Mar, now need to think about what at the $100 mark worth to buy from them.

  • Nice, will pick something up on arrival if possible

  • anything in good bargain except the NDS…?

  • They usually have 2 for $? bottles of alcohol in store, but I can't find that in their web store.

  • Anyone think it would be possible to buy and store at the airport and pick up upon returning??

    • +1

Syd Duty Free allows preorders that you pick up upon arrival.

    • +1

Order online, pick up upon returning.

  • What to buy? Any recommendations?
    I'm thinking Apple TV.

    • Cointreau has a street price of $65/litre but is only $35/litre duty free.
This seems like a significant saving to me.

  • Anyone got any experience with the "TakeOff" Full HD Action Camera that they sell? With this $30 off, brings it down to $120
