  • The price isn't $99 pre-paid like a few weeks ago.

    This appears to be unlocked…

  • -1
    • This is half price.

      • Half price? So is it better?

Very similar phones. The Sony has a micro SD slot where the Nexus doesn't which will sway the voting for some people, but I'd personally get the Nexus just for the vanilla Android experience and latest & greatest updates(currently 4.3)that the sony may never get (officially).

  • If your after a smaller sized phone it's a great price however I would go for Lumia 720 @ $199, if it's a Nokia/Win you want otherwise there are many higher spec phones < $200

    • I am a bit confused with Windows phone, are they all Windows 8 phone now?

      • The x20 and x25 series are all Windows 8. Any phone running Windows Phone 7.8 or earlier is not able to be upgraded to Windows 8.

  • Hi marchi, where is the 720 going for $199 its around 250 on ebay by the looks of it…

  • It looks like 199 on vodafone but not sure if that's unlocked..

  • How is the battery life and touchscreen quality on this? Comparable to iPhone?

    • Great as per someone in the office who got one :)

    • Touch screen if imo better the ios and android, battery life is same as most, about a day

      • +2

I have a 520 and only use it for phone calls (kind of defeating the purpose of a smartphone) anyway if you dont make calls the battery will last about 3 days which is better than any of the 4 android phones I've previously had…

On a sunny day you can't see what is on the screen at all unless you find some shade…

        • I would get the Lumia 720 ($199 via Voda) instead, I reckon it's worth the extra $50 bucks for a battery that lasts 25% longer and the ClearBlack display (better outdoor visibility), not to mention an enhanced camera.

  • Out of curiosity, does anyone know if these are the 850MHz capable model or are they the 900MHz model?

    • 520 is 850MHz capable.

  • The 520 is a great Lumia-sure it hasn't got a flash or NFC but for under $150 it's worth having.

Love mine a lot. Spare batteries are easy to come across-look on eBay.

  • I am new to Windows Phone, do they have the followings apps available?

    Whatsapp
    WeChat
    Facebook
    Google Map or Navigation

    • You can check all apps you want here http://www.windowsphone.com/en-au/store
Forget about all Google apps if you want to use WP8.
Nokia off line turn-by-turn navigation is much better.

      • Thanks, seem whatsapp, wechat are available but no official fb apps yet.

I have used the Nokia turn by turn before on my old phone, yeah it is quite good.

I think this phone support quad band, right?

  • Great phone for the money (I bought one as an iPhone 3GS replacement).

HERE Maps and Drive are awesome, especially offline. And with the latest OS upgrade (including Data Sense) there is no need to guess what your data usage is like.
