Standout deal would have to be the $79 120Gb Samsung Epic Deal.

    • Good to see you taking pole position today - been a while :P

      Regards
      SE

      • Yeah have been low on ozbargain mojo of late :)

It's coming you way very soon. In less than three months. I am a fortune teller.
Seriously, too many people are getting into the ssd business and the prices are going to come down sharply.

  • Ok daylight savings always stuffs me up. So to have a chance to get this SSD in WA on Sunday i need to be here by 5pm right?

    • +1

you mean the Epic hour ones?

Your time will be 3 hours difference with NSW on Sunday

So to have a chance to get this SSD in WA on Sunday i need to be here by 5pm right? <== Being available by the time you mentioned will meant you should have ample time to get yourself ready before the deal starts

      • Sorry I meant 6pm, maybe this is why DST always gets me haha. But i'll make sure I'm here at 10 minutes to 6 with my finger on the trigger/mouse button. Hope your server can handle the load :P

Cheers for the good deals SE :)

        • +1

I c… i was under the impression you wanted to make sure you had enough "practice" rounds prior the deal :)
Our server have not been down by our epic hour deals so far, despite many great deals previously - so it should hold on the day, but expect slow page loading during the deal.

For $10 more why don't just get the Evo? (I don't understand)
      Shipping will be $10 anyway.

      • If shipping is $10 then it would actually be $14 more (103 - 89).

  • Anyone get any idea if there's much difference between the regular Samsung 840 SSD and the 840 EVO? I can't decide which one to get, or if there's much (if any) differences between them…

    • I think the read/write speeds are faster for the evo, but I can't find much information.

Doesn't seem to be a massive difference, however I just bought the EVO based on the fact it's only $15 more, I'll probably forget about the sale on sunday night, plus there's only 30 of them for sale I might miss out.

  • I rate this deal but not the low quantities on the epic hour deals. COTD server styles

    • Hey, at least SE quote the exact quantities :)

  • any good deals on other ssd?

    maybe sandisk? plextor? :D

    • Yeah, i'm personally looking for the sandisk extreme II 240Gb… any deals on this? (C'mon <$150… a man can dream can't he =P)

    • +2

Sandisk is one of our major SSD brand and we should be doing some promotion related to them down the track - hopefully soon? :)

      Regards
      SE

Any thoughts on the HP laptop? I heard HP cases have heat problems or something a while back, are they fixed now? I'm leaning towards Asus/Samsung for build quality…

  • Yay!

  • ShoppingExpress: There are 4 of us here in an office that would like to buy one each. Can you bundle the shipping so we don't pay shipping 4 times please?

  • Can I install Samsung 840 120GB SSD into my Sony VPC CB45FG laptop?

    4GB ram

  • Are you still thinking of a deal on Samsung PRO SSD? Still waiting for that one, no one has yet had a special I don't think.

    • Trying our best - Samsung does not budge on this series, but we will be doing some proposal and hopefully something comes out soon :).

      Regards

  • Would these SSDs work in a Macbook Pro?

    • They should but better do a quick search.
      www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui-eQuROHBk‎

    • They do. I personally have an 840 pro 256GB on my macbook pro 2012. Though they dont work on the macbook pro with retina. It's like night and day when you compare an ssd to a stock Hdd.

      • why not work with mbp Retina?

  • Hey SE, the links for the internal drives on the WD drive page seem to go to the portable drive listings and not the internals; you might want to fix that up ;o)

  • Not that I am buying… but you have the 1TB EVO listed in the heading but make no mention of it is the detail. I checked the coupon and it does not apply to it, you might want to fix.

    • +2

The 1TB EVO is specified in the Sunday Promotion - EPIC Hour at point 3.

      • True, thanks for pointing that out!

I want an EVO, but I can't wait for shipping. I need it this weekend. So I'll just go to MSY which only charges $5 more anyway.

    • +1

Agree. MSY's 250Gb is only $3 more and their prices are not limited to this weekend only. You just have to put up with MSY's Soup Nazi way of shopping.

  • 120 evo is a decent deal shipped to my door with insurance. Got one.

  • Good price. considering my local ple is selling the 250GB version for $209.

  • What is the Samsung-bundled migration software?
Have had real trouble migrating with Win8, most software packages I've tried only work up to Win 7

  • I want it all! I want it all! And I want it NOW!

  • Cheap but still no hurry to buy until 1TB drop further down.

    Cheers.

  • Hi SE,

Any good deals for Haswell i7 Core laptops?

    • Great deals on what is the best bang for buck SSD on the market right now.

To those considering the 120gb model, check out some online reviews - apart from substantially slower write and cache-boosting speeds, the MLC RAM in usage effectively results in a much shorter life expectancy for the 120gb model compared to the larger models. That said, the 840 EVO's fared very well and it won't be a concern in typical usage, but for a more detailed review and explanation, check out http://www.anandtech.com/show/7173/samsung-ssd-840-evo-revie…

Edit - oops. meant to reply in tree to OP, not to Slickvic re; your specific question…

  • Hi Rep,

Does this come with the genuine sealed retail packaging?

    • All brand new sealed in retail packaging

      • Does it come with SATA cable aswell?

  • Do you mean AEST (which only Qld will be on from Sunday) or AEDT (NSW/Vic/Tas time)?

  • Hey Rep, I just purchased a 250gb EVO through direct transfer- will I be informed when the funds have been received?

  • I'm after the evo 250Gb. But considering that MSY and Umart sell it for $185, I'll get from them.

    • If you have an MSY or Umart close by, or are happy to pay their shipping, and are also happy to pay an extra $3, why not?

In honesty, I don't understand the point of your comment. Prefer bricks and mortar?

      • $3 less is not worth the effort of ordering from interstate. Might as well walk into any MSY store in Melb and buy.

  • Hi Rep,
How about doing a deal on Crucial 960MB SSD and/or Sony Vaio Pro 13 ultrabook?
    Thanks

  • Hi Rep,

Great deals - congrats. When will you be putting orders in the post? I need a unit by end of next week. Thanks

    • +1

Tuesday we will be back in the office and dispatch will resume. Some orders ordered earlier today may have been dispatched :).

  • Hi Rep - any deals on msata? 256GB preferred :)

    • Hehe I am waiting on such one also :)

  • In the market for a new lappy as my old HP mysteriously died last weekend (approx 3 years old). Was looking out for Haswell ones due to better battery life but tempted by this. Though I'm now wary of buying another HP…

    Torn!

  • Any deal possible on Sandisk Extreme 120GB?
    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/sandisk-extreme-ssd-12…

  • Bought a 250GB EVO on Thursday from you guys. This discounted price is just too good so I bought another one today! Great deal.

    • Not really "too good". Like mentioned above, MSY has it for only $3 more for their regular price.

  • Thanks, got a memory card :)

  • Hi rep, any chance of discounts or even free shipping on the Procurve switches? :)

    • I'm after an 8 port Gigabit switch, do you have any discounts on these? thanks

  • Been waiting for an 840 EVO at this price to put a rocket under an old Macbook I'm rescuing.
    Thanks.

  • Ugh sold out on Sandisk extreme :(

Might have to consider paying more for one as there is always so little stock of them.

  • Does this include a bracket for installing into laptops which take 9mm drives?

  • Can I install Samsung 840 120GB SSD into my Sony VPC CB45FG laptop?

    Laptop Specication: inter i5-2450M processor/ 2.5gHz
Intel HD graphics 3000/AMD radeon HD 6630M, 1 GB
    4GB ram

  • Not getting any free shipping with the SD cards.

EDIT - nvm kept going to the wrong page for some reason.

  • Got one Samsung 840 120GB SSD, thanks!

  • I am trying to by Samsung 840 120GB SSD. Shipping to WA is $14.95 means total $93.15. Better to pay more $10 and get 840 Evo. However still want to buy 840 not evo if the shipping is less. Does anyone have any Discount/Promo code for cheap shipping?

  • how come the starting time for the 840 is now? isnt it 9-10pm?

and the page is missing a add to cart button?

    • I believe they have all sold out.

      • Deal available between 9-10pm AEST 6-10-13……
        its only 8.13pm AEST

        looks like i won't get one then…

    • Have you forgotten about daylight saving? Maybe you are living in Queensland?

      • yup living in qld..and the rep did post AEST..

        • AEST is according to NSW time, Queensland time is not important :P

      • Isn't daylight savings AEDT?

  • Damn Sydney time..I'm in QLD

    • SSD sold out at 9.04 Sydney time. Badluck guys !

    • Tell your state government to follow all other eastern Australia states with daylight saving, so you won't miss out another epic OzBargain deal in the future :P

  • Deal started at around 7:10pm(Queensland).
pulled the trigger, got the HP lappy for $608.8 delivered.
Pretty decent price for that spec.
No luck for the $79 SSD.
    Any way, EPIC HOUR!

  • +1

Hi Rep, can we get back deal on Samsung 840 evo series ssd please?

    • Any chance it will come back?

  • Shopping express,

I purchased the samsung 840 120gb ssd from your epic hour sale three weeks ago
    found here > http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118558

I paid for it via paypal, got debited the next day. I emailed you, got a response from James and even called and spoke to the same guy.

He told me that it would be sorted, and that he would email me about whether he has fixed my order or not.

Haven't heard from him or your site since last week.

I'm fed up, you guys have ruined a birthday gift and I have sat here waiting for a ridiculously long time for this to be rectified.
