Umm US$ is more than Aussie

  • +4

    … what?

I think your currency converter is broken

      • -2

If it's not the cheapest available then the guidelines say it's ok to vote negative.

      • -6

Misleading potential purchasers on price is a valid reason to neg. If once the conversion is corrected, it is still the cheapest price available then the neg should be retracted.

        • +1

Well it is the cheapest and is now corrected, so I revoked.

But seriously… primary school maths skills aren't a hell of a lot to ask for is it?

        • Shouldnt you retract your neg as this is still the cheapest price.

    • Realised what a mess I made of a deal. Just a typo, not maths. Fixed now. Hope there is no more confusion.

    US$199.99 (+ US$15 delivery). Convert to about $122 AUD.

    Pretty close. +1
    Correct answer: 227.97 Australian Dollar

  • +1

Erm, no. Closer to $230 AUD. Hence, no deal.

  • No idea how you managed to get $122/$160 prices,

But lowest I can see on SI is $280, so this is still a good deal.

    • Doesn't shopping express have a deal for $182 on right now, on the front OzB page?!

      • +1

If you're referring to this - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118558 - it's a different brand of SSD (Samsung from shoppingexpress vs Intel in this deal.)

Samsung should be a lot faster, but Intel's got an unbeatable (AFAIK) track record, so this is still a value deal for people who want Intel specifically.

        • Actually intel had a massive firmware debacle too. They were a huge joke at the time.

    • He needed a currency converter that actually works right.

OP said, could not find any local stock for under $160 AUD.

  • Poor guy, have a sympathy + and anyway it's still cheapest after you corrected it.

  • +2

Great deal, screw the neggers, haters gonna hate.

Cheapest on Staticice is around $270 AUD + shipping

  • -2

    Sympathy +
    It's still a deal haters

  • Is it still sandforce?

BTW, the bracket that comes with intel drives is useless. It's got a long slit instead of screw holes. The slit makes it impossible to screw it down tight, and the drive will slide. So you'll need another bracket unless your case supports 2.5" drives.

    • yes it is still a Sandforce

Any particular reason why you'd choose this 240GB Intel 530 over the 256GB Samsung 840 Pro (I bought mine for $210 delivered at the beginning of the year) or other cheaper drives (such as the 256GB Plextor M5S which has been as cheap as $165 at MSY)?

The benchmarks for the Intel 530 seem rather mediocre (worse than the aforementioned M5S in most benchmarks): http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4724/5/intel-ssd-530-240gb-r…

  • How much on forwarding costs? Item is not shipped to Australia

    • You need to select reseller kit as style.

  • Ahh I see, thanks for that Neil. My mistake

  • Intel will last forever, absolutely no chance of early burnout with performance like that……..

  • My Intel 520 is the most reliable and fastest SSD I have had yet. I had heaps of BSOD when I first got it but I think they were related to drivers + Win 8 being New. Everything just fixed itself after a while and the firmware stayed the same. I had a Kingston die on me this month (piece of crap), and I have a cheap Samsung in my other pc that's running fine so far.

I agree with the above I feel like the Intel will last forever - Quality

    • I think the lower class Intel SSD's will last forever because intel designs them to have mediocre performance to extend their life.
      My experience is with a 120gb 330 and 520.
I'm now running a Sandisk Plus and Samsung 830 derivative, both stomp the comparable intel competitors.
