    what's the normal price ?

    • you can look up at Kogan and still this is much better than their normal price ;)
$589 + shipping => more expensive than Harvey Norman

      • +1

I bought it at this price. Not even mad at the price difference because the phone really makes up for it. That being said, without microSD slot, one should probably opt for the 32gb version since it shoots vidya at up to @ 30mbps

    • +1

      this is hardly normal

  • $549 from UniqueMobiles without the cover: http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/lg-g2-f320-16gb-white-umd?gc…

      That's grey import

        under $600 for a flag-ship snapdragon 800 CPU + AU stock smartphone is this LG G2 ;)

      • +4

yeah I know, that's why i didn't neg, just stating as an alternative for those who don't mind buying grey import for cheaper price (without the cover).

  • wow.. very thin..
    tempting..

    • thats what she said

      • +8

        Thats NOT what she said

        • that's what he said

Nexus 5 will be launched next week. Similar specification.

    • +2

It's rumoured to be announced next week (Oct 14th)… who knows when it'll actually reach Australian shores. Though I'm personally holding out for one, the specs are awesome and hopefully finally a 32gb version!

      • +2

Nexus product's come out the same time around the world. And has next day delivery.
In fact the Nexus 4 came out here first due to it coming out at 12pm everywhere.

        • +1

Wow I hope that happens again this time around! N4 launch was an absolute clusterfuck for the poor people over in the states and I'd hate to have to compete with that crowd for a phone.

      • they have two versions actually, the 16GB with 2600mAh battery, and the 32GB version would have 3000mAh. Just rumour ;)

    • How does this G2 compare with xperia Z1? I notice Z1 has the microSD slot which bumps the storage up to 80gb (16+64).

      • Z1 has the arguably better camera (20mp vs 13mp), microSD, ip58 water resistance,
G2 has IR remote, OIS for less grain/blur (arguable), slightly better screen (arguable), rear buttons (quirky)

the biggest difference is the camera and battery life, both are better on the G2.

LG G2 will last longer between charging, sharper photos, and almost the same hardware as the Z1 or Nexus 5,
Xperia Z1 has a wider camera lens, water resistance and a thicker bezel edge, and a slightly smaller screen.

        here's a 3 way Xperia Z1 / G2 / Note 3 shootout review, covers everything in detail.

  • I just got one of these from kogan, before they dropped the price.
Its big, hard to navigate with one hand, however its fast. Very fast. Everything is snappy and works. camera is nice, 4g is 50meg/sec in brisbane.

But I still miss the ip5…. not gonna lie.

    • I'm the same. I'd like to be able to convert away (i need bigger screen!!), but every time I just come back to the polished iOS experience.

    • +2

It happens when you convert, give it some time. In the not so distant future you will pick an iPhone up and find the experience a bit weird. (I assume it happens the other way around too)

    • how do find using the back button on the G2?

  • +4

I tempt to opt in my iphone 5s for this lol

  • AU stock LG only 12 mths Warranty, same as grey import

  • HN pre-order…. pfffft.

Look at the fiasco that is their Note 3 pre-order: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2151636

A week after launch, plenty of people still have not received their phones.

  • not sure HN still have 10% off old phone trading in option?

  • +2

Very tempting. Awesome battery life and display, main downside is LG's software.

    • +5

Then just wait for the Nexus 5, might be a lot cheaper with the latest Android 4.4

      • +2

The US price at $400 for 32G model. What a bargain!

    • +2

I actually really enjoy LG's software. It is not as bloated as some (Samsung) and navigation is simple like stock Android, unlike some (HTC). It also has some really useful features like floating apps/Q slide apps.
I've been using the LG Optimus G since it was released and have been very happy with it. I'm just missing the memory card slot from my Samsung.

      • Personally, I'm not too fond of the LG software, it's way to similar to Samsung visually, and they are doing the same in overloading with gimmicks.

Not only that, they lack support that the other OEM's have. Optimus G is still at 4.1 while the rest is already preparing for 4.3 release

        • They have changed their skin with the G2 if I'm not mistaken (to a much lighter, stock-like skin), time will tell if it makes any difference in updates etc.

  • +2

Missing Micro SD slot is the killer for me:(

Not sure why they do this??? 16GB is barely enough these days, especially once you start taking some full res pictures and have some music or vids on your phone.

    • Can only blame google/apple unfortunately =(
      - google because they believe the common smartphone user would be "confused" by multiple partitions on a phone (yeah, right.) as well as pushing cloud storage (probably so they can access even more of your data)
      - apple because they never supported mSD in the first place!

Fortunately the G2 does support USB-OTG so you've got some options at least.

This is good news, means by X'mas, it will be below $500.

who is Web and why is he a Rapist?

    • it's WebTherapist ;)

      • ….can't say that didn't come to mind when you entered that name in the username box……

    • +3

not "a Rapist"… he is "THE Rapist"!!

      • who gonna be the 'victim' ;) lol

        • +2

Not this again, someone already brought this up in a previous deal..

  • +1

    dat bezel

  • When will G2 be released in Australia?

edit: HN said they expected to receive stock on 01 Nov.

    • Herrrderrrrrr

  • $540 plus shipping for 32GB today at http://www.android-enjoyed.com/lg-g2-32gb-black.html

  • flagship phone with 16 GB storage but not SD slot. That is a bit odd (except for Nexus of course).

    • Agreed, but I think it's great since they do have the 32GB available(unlike the Nexus 4)
