  • Does anyone know can I go in and get this in the store? Can I change the specs of the machine?

    • +2

Comment above, Excludes BTO (built to order)

  • Ha ha.. the "Usual" - I think with the way Apple is pricing these days, it needs to be more than the "Usual"

  • Are the new MacBookPros out?

    • Yes, and included

    • not yet at dick smith - try price-matching at apple store :)

      • I tried at Garden City (WA) and got refused. Their "reasoning" was that DSE was selling discontinued stock. Tried to point out that the iMacs and Macbook Airs etc. were current models but sales assistant woukd not accept this.

    • +1

Someone in forum said Dick won't be getting the new MacBook Pro until 1st November, which is a day after this sale ends. Boo!

Someone else has also asked Apple store about price-matching Dick, but got refused for the new model since Dick does not have new model in stock yet. Boo again!

      • +1

They have some new models, if they don't have the particular one you are after you can still make the purchase and receive it when they get stock in. Some good specials on ex demo units as well discontinued imacs/pros.

        • They don't have - at least in Adelaide - any of the new MBP w retina (13 or 15). And they can't even order it yet - I checked.

And Apple will only pricematch if you can buy in someone else's store (not online) at that price.

I suppose you could lie, and say DS do have stock and see if your local Apple Store falls for it, but I couldn't bring myself to be other than honest.

  • Those MBP Retinas on the DSE site are still the old ones aren't they?

    • +1

      Correct.

  • I believe they are the old models cause the spec says Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Newer model uses Haswell chip that comes with Intel Iris Graphics.

    • +1

i think megabuy is selling it for 1499. which is 100 cheaper than apple store

  • They don'd sell iMacs do they?

      • I'll take that as a sort of :)

        Should have specified 27".

        • Pretty sure they do, I bought my 27" from them a long long time ago. Don't see why they wouldn't stock it since it is the more popular of the imacs

    • We sell all standard iMac models, but only at selected large-format stores.

  • Does anyone know whether an education discount can be applied on top of a price match of DSE prices at the Apple Store?

    • No, unfortunately.

  • Can I get a Fushion Drive without doing a BTO?

    • +1

      Nope

      • Thanking you

          You're welcoming!

The 2013 MBA isn't bad value for money… especially considering how inflated other ultrabooks can get in Australia.

What's wrong? Baby can't afford one?

  • Hi Guys,

Picked up a MacBook Pro Retina 15 the 16GB 512 SSD Discrete Nvidia card model for $2879.10 this morning.

They received plenty of stock while I was there(I was there to pick up last gen model), it made my day!!!

    Cheers.

    • +5

      $2879.10 for a laptop these days…Ouch!
No Wonder you are an "OZ Nawab" :P

      • +2

        Lol!! You picked it up……!!!

But seriously, I need that much RAM to run at least couple of VMs at a time and I have used various windows laptops, and they failed to tick all the boxes.</jusftification> lol.

  • On another note. There has been a recall on Macbook Air 64GB and 128GB Models sold between June 2012 and June 2013. If you've purchased between those dates, check the instructions to see if your device has been affected.

Those models have been recalled due to a high rate of SSD failure.

Those who r worried about the new mbpr and 10% off, last three MacBooks I bought, I just walked into DSE and asked for 10% and got it pretty easily

    • The problem is many DSE branches don't have the new model in stock at the moment.

  • I noticed that the 21.5inch iMac is still running on Mountain Lion. Does it come with iPhoto, Garage Band and iWorks as advertised on the Apple website? Would there be any difference in buying this and upgrading to Mavericks, as compared to buying an iMac with Mavericks from the Apple Store?

    • Even if it's the old version of iLife/iWork, you can upgrade for free through the Mac App Store. Likewise with Mavericks, it's just a free update on the Mac App Store and is no different from buying one pre-installed, except for a bit more work.

  • +1

Isn't it still cheaper from the Apple store atm… http://store.apple.com/au_edu_5002569/buy-mac/macbook-pro then using https://www.cashrewards.com.au/ for an extra 3.5% off..

  • Thanks OP. Here is my story. Been to apple store broadway n mentioned this deal. The staff agreed to match it but neither BTO nor education pricing on top. Gave up! Then went to city myer. Also agreed to match but no price beat. Purchased the mac air 4G/128G at $1124.10 with participating credit card. Spend $400 n get $20 myer gift card. 2000 myer points worths another $20 gift card. Gonna visit overseas in less than 60 days. So claim gst $102 back. Despite the credit card points collected, final price for me:1124-20-20-102=1082. I really tried my best!

    • Sorry for my bad math. Should be $982.Lol

    • So is the TRS 60 days now! I am leaving in mid December, so I am holding off all my purchases till mid November. If thats the case I will go shopping now :)

      • yup. U totally can go now. I am leaving even a bit later than u. Happy shopping!

Dick Smith in Chadstone just got a palate of new Macbook Pros.
    I picked up a new 13" at 10% off.

    • +1

I got the top end 13" rMBP from DSE City Melb on Friday. It was the new model, not that I'd rely on staff to know. The new MBPs have model number ME*, the previous non-Haswells are MD*.

    • Good job! Can u send me a scan of the receipt plz? [email protected]

  • Anyone know if the Mt Gravatt Garden City store has the brand new Macbook Pro's (Im looking at buying the 13" with the 256GB hard drive). I rang them up and the guy didnt seem to know which models they had.

  • +2

Wow, called Broadway Sydney branch earlier this afternoon and was told some new stock arrived yesterday, so I asked them to reserve the 13"/8GB ram/256GB SSD model for me. Drove there and picked it up just now. They also offered me Applecare with $60 discount, at $219, so I bought it too. Now this brand spanking new laptop is sitting on my bed getting charged :)

    • Nice work! Any chance you can send me a scan of the receipt.. [email protected]

    • I bought the last 13"/4GB RAM/128GB SSD Macbook Pro Retina from Broadway Sydney. Yay!

  • I purchased the 13" rMBP 256GB at Jbhifi (price matched using this deal). Ended up getting it for $1660.

    • Does JB have the latest model rMBP? On the website they don't have any rMBP at all.

      • +1

Yeap, they have the latest stock. Just go in-store and visit.

  • Do I have to go in store to find and buy a 27inch imac or can I buy online? Also is it the latest model?

  • Why does Apple have two different sets of prices for education?

This says Education store and is cheaper than in the link below it. Am I missing something?
