      Hi zeto87,

This doesn't look like one of our numbers.

      Carla DV

      • +2

Can confirm that it is the number that called me.

      • +1

That's the number that called me about my order.

      • -1

Just tried to dial this number and get a 'this number is unavailable'.
If several of you have this number as a missed call - it could be one of our out-bound only numbers.
The number to call is 1300 466 348.

        Carla DV

  • Well one of the 4 games I ordered is in that list, so I guess atleast I'll get something. Really hoping I can get Luigi U though, I couldn't imagine that one can't be ordered back in by TGG…fingers crossed.

Does make me hesitant about using their website to buy anything again though…seems going in store is the better option if they have any good sales…which kinda sucks cos their store isn't easy to get to for me…

  • +1

When can we expect a call? I was originally told Friday, called Friday afternoon and was told Saturday. Called Saturday afternoon and was told Monday, still no call.

Most of the games I ordered are the list sent out in the email. Does that mean I won't be getting a call?

    • -6

      Hi dmcneice,

The Customer Care Team are working hard to get through all the calls as fast as possible - thanks for your patience, we are hoping you will receive a call in the next few days.

      Carla DV

      • +5

So it's been extended to a few days. This deal was posted a week ago - wow, how time flies when waiting for the good guys.

        • +3

So in other words it's gonna be another week maybe more, why cant you just give us straight up answers instead of the run around?

  • +11

For my own curiosity after having read nearly all posts of this thread, I popped around to the Good Guys (Maribyrnong store) today before lunch time, and to my surprise I found a copy of Zombi U, LBP for the Vita and a couple of copies of Sonic Lost World for the 3DS & Wii U (which were games in the clearance sale), along with some of their normal priced games i.e New Super Mario Bros. 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns for the 3DS. Given this, I can assume that their endeavour to fulfill customer orders, at least in this store, has not been their main focus. I suggest fellow Ozbargainers to check their local store with the possibility of finding clearance titles which have not been collected for online distribution by staff members.

    • +18

They are waiting for Carla to visit all the stores in person to pull the games off the shelves to fulfil our orders.

    • +8

Thanks for the heads up. This is a joke. Does TGG know what they're doing or are they are half a sleep or something.

      • +1

If they did, all of this wouldn't have happened (should use this as a ringtone).

    • +13

Can I do what TGG did to us? Just walk in grabs the games and leave a note there "will call you to discuss how to pay for these games a few days later".

    • +2

Yeah I checked my store last sunday they still had pretty much everything on display for sale. Not on sale/clearance prices of course. So my uncharted 3 is far away allocated (not sure if shipped) and yet theres a copy sitting right there in front of me.
Took some photos too not that they'd be of much use.
other games they had were killzone2 essentials, God of war3?, God of war Ascension, CODMW3, Cod ghosts, GT5, Battlfield 4, Uncharted 3, resistance ps vita title, modnation ps vita?, Xbox Battle field 4, Cod Ghosts, Cod MW3, GTA5, Cod bo2, Lego wiiu, Super mario bros wiiu, Donkey kong 3ds, Mario 3d land, mario kart 3ds, Animal crossing 3ds, Luigi's mansion 3ds, Mario bros 2 3ds and pokemon x and y on display. not sure how many of those were at $10 or discounted during the sales but those are what was on display.

  • +10

Can confirm that I have checked TGG in a Canberra store and they have several PS Vita games for $10 on clearance, PS3 games on clearance and other games which WERE $10 for the sale and are now listed as a higher price (TGG REP - shouldn't these be used to fulfil existing orders rather than being sold to the general public?).

The funny thing is I called this particular TGG store on the day of the sale a week ago asking if they had anything in store and they told me they don't stock games anymore!!! WTF!

    • +7

      Thats dodgy as hell.

U cant take someones money with intentions of exchaning it for a game and then claim to be out of stock, while at the same time selling the games at a higher price. That clearly means that there is stock.

  • +2

TGG Circus continues. Understood you are a franchise model, but dont you have any control over what these stores do?

  • Rep you still haven't replied to me about Pokémon X. Sorry if I'm sounding like a broken record here but geez it wasn't that hard a question. I haven't received a phone call and I need to know if I should be buying this game elsewhere.

And if I have to buy it elsewhere I sure as hell won't be buying it AGAIN from the Good Guys even though it's listed as IN STOCK at my local store.

    • -8

      Hi chichi,

Sorry - I don't have information on this title yet.

      Carla DV

  • Just got off the phone from Customer Care. I was given the two options (as a few other people have had) of waiting for the back order to come in (which is being expected to arrive by the end of the week) or the gift card (amount was not given). Call wait time was ~12mins.

    • +3

I'm waiting for the 5 business days to go past, ACCC their asses.

    • +2

It's good that you have choices, not only that I did not offer any choices but they also tell me what they were going to do like I have no say in this matter. Very frustrated.

Carla, can you please clarify on this matter? Thanks.

      • zeto87 i thought we were all going to receive vouchers regardless of whether our order is cancelled?

        • +1

The person i spoke to didn't allude to that. It was either one or the other

        • +1

I was told they're sending it out regardless.

  • +1

I recieved a call about 2 hours saying that I will be recieving 3/5 games I ordered and that if they can't source the two other games by Friday I'll be receiving a refund on those 2 games and getting a $40 giftcard

    • What the? So much inconsistencies in the gift-card amount. I'm apparently missing out on 3 games but have only been offered $20.

      • It's likely cause I had 4 games in one order and heartgold in the other >_> I'm guessing the amount of orders is the key

        • +1

Yeah, I had 2 separate orders, so maybe I'll get a $20 giftcard from each.
Although one total one would be easier.

  • +2

I would like to say that i have still not received a call on either home phone or mobile.

    • Same here. Heard nothing since the allocation email on the 1st day of the sale

  • Still no call. BTW, does anyone knows whether the clearance is still available in the store of TGG?

    • Hi isle0415,

The $10 Game Clearance Sale In-store (an Online) has ended.

      Carla DV

  • +4

My issues have since been resolved.

Guys, I can let you know that if you are not getting results, just be patient and try again.

The first 5-8 times I tried ended with the same messages of "wait for call" but finally I managed to get the entire situation resolved.

They really do have a 'sheetload' of orders but they seem to be working through them. My order personally was for 3DS games, I can't speak for xbox and ps3 games orders but for 3DS games, it should be fine. Unless you ordered late in the day, I ordered early in the morning and my order will be fulfilled. If you ordered at 6pm, chances are you'll get a refund, don't whine about it, its unlikely they can do anything about it.

  • +2

If they offer to pay you off with the giftcards or vouchers don't accept them they legally have to supply you with the goods if they've taken your money. Even if it means they can't buy it wholesale or from a first party supplier. They may even need to run to the nearest competitor to buy it from them but they must fulfill these orders.

  • +1

    Got called today also.

No options, just their spiel of all orders are trying to get fulfilled by consolidating all the stores stock or getting new stock from suppliers. Also was told I will get a $40 gift card even if my order gets fulfilled.

  • +4

Did anyone notice that the game selection online at TGG's website is almost empty?

So even though they are giving out giftcards, there's no games to spend them on.

    • +6

I noticed that a few days ago. Maybe they're hoping we'll buy microwaves.

      • +5

All prices across the board will rise by $20 or $40 once the vouchers go out LOL.

  • +3

True, I just checked and couldn't find a single game….what's up with that? I was thinking that a $40 voucher would go nicely with a copy of GTA 5. :(

  • +1

Probably removed while this issue is getting resolved…

    • Maybe Carla could weigh in on this subject?

      • Hi Cheap Skate,

All titles from the Clearance Sale were removed. As for other titles - it's safe to assume that they were removed to avoid further confusion.

        Carla DV

        • Will they still be available in store? I'm referring to the non clearance titles of course.

        • Hi lamerthanlam,

The latest information I have is that we will be stocking games only Online in the future.

Now I don't know exactly when the 'future' begins … but I did promise to share with you any inside-info I had!

          Carla DV

        • -1

Yes but currently are there non clearance games in stock in store? Or have they been removed off the shelves?

It just seems extremely suspicious that when gift cards are being doled out by the dozen, games are no where to be found. Next thing we know "RRP" rises by $20-$40 depending on which gift cards you were given.

  • +5

Placed my order at 8.36am Tuesday morning, got GG confirmation and PayPal email that I'd been charged. Got GG email at 4:10 that afternoon that my order had been allocated to Bundall store. Not heard a thing since, no further email, no telephone call, nothing.

The only reason I know about the drama is because I decided to check back in this thread to see if anyone had received any of their orders yet. Not happy at all, especially considering a whole heap of 3DS/DS games ordered where for my boys Xmas presents.

Great customer care, Good Guys, really first class…not.

    • +3

Same situation as blankedboy, early morning order and email confirmation for the assigned Bundall store late afternoon.
Haven't heard anything since apart from the latest generic email. Order was 360/PS3 games so not holding out much hope any part of the order will be filled.

      • +1

        Hi tm32,

hang in there - I'm sure you are in the call queue and the Customer Care Team will be able to give you all the information you need.

        Carla DV

    • +1

      Hi blankedboy,

All customers have been sent an email update - maybe check your spam folder?

You can expect a call from the Customer Care Team to talk to you about your individual order - they are trying to get through all calls within the next couple of days.

      Carla DV

  • Carla, can you please help me with these matters?

I just got off the phone, which I made, with one of the staff. Basically, he told me that they are trying to order more games to fulfill the order when I gave him my order numbers. However, when I told him about the call I have received, which gave me no option to wait and force me to accept the refund, he then told me that that is it: if they said that they could not get it, then they could not. This was inconsistent with his initial advice which that they are trying to source more games and inconsistent with the fact that others still got it even they order after me or at least given the option to wait even if received the call after me. Obviously, he has the game's title in front of him and still did not know what was going on. Evem more obviously, there is no phone conversation recorded in the file of the order number.

Then I told him that it was not appropriate, that some people ordered after me, on the same title (luigi u), received the call after me and still given the option to wait and even got it. He then went on and told me that it was based on luck of being allocated to the store with stocks based on the postcode where I lived. This is not true either because as Carla said here, stocks were being consolidated to fulfil order based on first come first served basis.

Then, when I told him that the title (luigi U) is fairly new on the market and there cannot be a reason of not being able to source it (even I can source it myself), he then told me that they simply cannot source it and it was the clearance so they are not obglied to do it and that I have to accept the gift card and refund if they cannot.

    • +1

      Hi shinichidduy,

Let's see how we can help. Can you private message me your order number?

      Carla DV

      • +1

Done. I appreciate your help a lot, Carla.

    • +2

They weren't obliged to do it? Looks like the person you were speaking to was lying. Of course they are obliged, it didn't take them a week to accept our payments, man if I was you that person on the phone would be reported. Did you grab his/her name down? I wouldn't take the bs they are feeding us the customers. It doesn't matter if it was a clearance or sale or whatever they call it. Basically, you paid for something, they accepted your payment, that's a contract there. They cannot automatically force you to get out of that contract under the reasons they are providing and especially when they have not fully mapped out their stock. Not our problem, but the good guys are pretty good at getting out of s**t I'll admit.

      • Basically, you paid for something, they accepted your payment, that's a contract there.

And the terms and conditions of the said contract which you agreed to by clicking the "I have read and agree" button:
        http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Terms_and_Co…

TGG have a couple of outs there, under "Order Acceptance"

We reserve the right to reject any order you place with Us for any reason whatsoever. If We reject your order, We will attempt to notify you using the e-mail address you have given Us with the order.

Your credit or debit card will normally not be charged if We reject an order, but We will process a refund if the charge has been made against your card.

I received an email saying Order Received, and one saying it had been Allocated to a store but not actually Accepted.

And again under "Errors on Our Site"

Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and We reserve the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged.

An error in stock levels so they can revoke under that clause too.

And before anyone comes back with "The Law" over rides their T&C's, I'm sure TGG would have a team of lawyers (experienced in both contract and consumer law) that were involved in preparing their T&C's, so I doubt there's anythin illegal in there.

        • +4

What are you talking about?! They have stocks but just did not want to fulfil our orders at $10 each game. They put them on the shelves try to sell them at full price.
TGG lawyer team sucks just as much as whoever TGG paid to design their online store how about that.

        • Any stock still remaining on the shelves points to the incompetence of the individual store as they all should have been pulled to help fill orders.

Maybe their crappy stock counting system said they don't have any and they didn't even bother looking on the shelf.

  • -2

When Good Guys get around to call me would they have details on all of my orders?
I forgot to sign in and made 2 or 3 orders.

    • Hi star64,

The Customer Care Team have all the details of your orders.

      Carla DV

  • +1

Hi all … heading off now.
Will pop back in again tomorrow to see if I can help anyone.

    Good night

    Carla DV

    • +3

      night darling

  • +12

So… tomorrow marks a week since the deal was posted. Am I the only one bracing for the upcoming storm?

    • Can't hurt to start singing Kumbaya

    • This whole thread.
I really hope everyone gets their orders (including me) theres really no reason for the inventory system to not stop taking orders once stock has been depleted just like any other store anywhere on the internet.

  • +9

Honestly, I'd rather not get a phone call and be given the run around from somebody who obviously doesn't know what they are talking about, or what the specific situation is with my order. It's just a complete waste of my time and will only lead to frustration.

Just email me telling me what titles I can expect to be shipped, what titles are on back order, and what efforts can be made for any compensation for undelivered games. That's all I'm interested in. Not spin or platitudes from GG staff covering up their corporate cock up.

  • Yesterday I ended ordering Pokemon Soul Silver on eBay for about $70 because I really wanted to have it and was told that part of my order wouldn't be fulfilled, and I see that since I ordered, the price has skyrocketed again. Instead of giving me a gift voucher (don't even know if it will be $20 or $40 since I've had two phone calls telling me different things) that I can't use (since I don't need kitchen appliances or home entertainment equipment or whitegoods, the only thing I'd be likely to buy from TGG is games and it looks like they're not selling them anymore - at least not ones worth getting), it would be nice if they could send me a cheque for the $60 difference.

I've been told I'll still get Black 1 and White 2, but given the clusterf*** this has turned into, I'm not getting my hopes up.

    • +2

You should have just waited til the end of the week.

      • Why? It seems pretty much 100% likely I'm not going to get the game from TGG, so I thought I'd get it while I saw it at a relatively cheap price to everywhere else I'd seen it, especially since all other sellers on eBay (the only other place I've been able to find Soul Silver for sale) at the time I looked had already jacked up their price to at or around $100.

Ah well. If by some miracle I do end up with a copy from TGG as well I can always sell one of them for what I paid for it.

        • It's not a miracle, it's a legal obligation to send you your order. Not sure about everyone else but I'm standing my ground on getting my order. Don't care what they say, and certainly won't be accepting refunds or gift cards. If they have to source my soulsilver from ebay for 100 bucks then so be it. I hope others will stand their grounds as well.

        • +1

Can't they just hide behind their BS T&C which essentially says "We can cancel orders at any time just because we feel like it?" Given that we basically agreed to them by using the site, do we have a leg to stand on?

Not trying to be defeatist here, but if there is genuinely a way we can get around that, I'd like to know.

        • +1

Yeah I know what you mean. However, this is like when you step into a Chinese bargain/dollar store. On the counter it says no warranty or exchange. Doesn't matter what they say, everything we buy must be fit for its purpose so it can be returned for a refund if it breaks down under Australian consumer law. Same goes for the good guys, they can say there are exploding bombs in their microwaves but everything they do must be under Australian consumer law. Worse comes to worst, I'm sure the media would love this, if I lose that's where I'm going there next, I mean anything can get on ACA nowadays right? Lol You might wonder is all this effort worth it? For some no, but I have my reasons ;)

Edit: I could be wrong but this was what I was told, makes sense to me though otherwise the whole purpose of ACCC can be negated by the t&c of a business.

        • lol I hear you, it's about the principle more than anything. Still, since the guy today was like "You'll get a $40 voucher and a refund if we can't supply the third game you ordered", I guess that means technically I've already 'accepted' their refund? I'm assuming they're not likely to call again and from what I hear, getting a hold of them by phone is impossible.

        • -1

I think the best thing now is to call them up until you get through. State your point and say you will be going to the ACCC. Don't worry if they don't care, just give the ACCC a ring, and if the numbers of calls are high, the business will be flagged and hopefully something will be done. The goodguys messed with the wrong group of buyers this time!

        • If you are holding out for a game and they don't have the one you want and just send you "Dora the explorer" instead THEN you are ENTITLED to a refund under consumer law.

        • Refund example was HYPOTHETICAL, in this case they failed to ship when payment was accepted.

    • +2

Not to be rude but They are not going to refund as you purchased that game from another source that is not the good guys they have nothing to do with that purchase so they don't have to do anything in regards to it.

      • I know they're not, nor was I expecting them to. I was just saying it would be nice :P

        • True I'm prob gonna spend my voucher on a game or a foreman grill since my old foreman grill has seen better days lol put the voucher towards something you know you will use or play :P

  • +2

Last year I bought Zelda: Skyward sword from these 'Guys' when it was on sale for $30. They took my money then rang me days later to say that they couldn't fulfil my order and I would have to accept a refund to my credit card over the phone then and there. While on hold I thought, this is crap, I'm not getting my game and I'm not handing my credit card details out over the phone, so I hung up. I initiated a refund through paypal and recieved my money back. About 5 weeks later Zelda: Skyward sword turns up at my doorstep from the Good Guys. Wow. I guess my order had remained in their system until they recieved more stock and they posted it out. Suffice to say, I'm gonna ignore the phone calls and wait this one out too (at least until I need to make a claim). Who knows?

    • +4

It is safe to conclude they are in the business of losing money and customers.

  • +5

Safe to say I won't be buying from the 'good guys' again

  • +1

For everyone who thinks ACCC is appropriate now please launch a complaint. In numbers I'm sure something will be done. I am fed up with no calls, and money been taken out of my account. I've received no contact from them after I have tried numerous times to get ahold of them. Clearly the business screwed up and this was a preventable situation. The goodguys have been around for ages, it's not like they set up camp only a few months ago. Enough is enough, we have been patient and understanding and given them 5 business days to sort it out.

I guess the worst part of this whole thing was, I had literally just finished Uni exams and had some time off and thought why not catch up on a few games like fallout and max payne that I never had time for. Got pretty excited for it too, but even if I do get them ill be back at work/ uni by then.

  • +22

Hi rep, if you are going to compensate us with gift cards can you please send us EB Games gift cards instead?

  • +1

Wow just skimmed through some of this deal and everyone needs to calm down.

I'm pretty sure this deal is comparable to the infamous Dicksmith games sale almost to years ago (wow time really flies). Considering the situations and the multitude of disgruntled customers, I'm going to say The Good Guys are handling this really professionally and well OzBargainers are again overreacting.

It seems we feel a sense of entitlement when we enter into such bargains but we must remember that it was a clearance sale and well clearance sales have minimal stock. Despite running low on stock they are still trying to source DISCONTINUED games from suppliers to fulfill our orders which TGG should receive brownie points for. They could have just left us in the dark, cancelled everyone's orders and nothing would happen.

Then bring on all this "I'm taking you to Fair Trading and they will fine you!" etc. are vile threats from OzBargain which seem to never eventuate into anything really. Besides I'm pretty sure TGG would rather take $5k slap-on-the-wrist fine from the ACCC than lose out $300k by compensating us with gift cards. TGG is a big business and I'm sure the ACCC and Fair Trading etc. gets hundreds of complaints (I know you're reading this Penta group!) each day but they will rarely act. Even if they it will just be some bad publicity but as they say "any publicity is good publicity".

Of course there will also be comments about "Oh guess I'm never shopping at TGG again" but if a bargain comes up, we will be all over it! Come on look what happened to Dicksmith; everything is fine and well isn't it?

Admittedly, TGG underestimated the numbers of orders but that's fine, all businesses make mistakes once in awhile. Like Dicksmith's games clearance, Harvey Norman's $121 pricing error and JB Hi-Fi's recent pricing error (which I must mention they honoured). I'm pretty certain that Dicksmith did not a rep. on Ozbargain (even though they do have one) attempting to answer all your questions in a reasonable manner and to give you reassurance. I'm pretty certain Harvey Norman held onto your money for awhile and everyone was left in the dark for a few weeks about getting refunds. And here we are complaining about being waiting for TGG for 13 minutes? Have you guys ever tried calling Centrelink? lol

I'm also sure that Dicksmith provided no compensation for your loss time and stress (?) but TGG have been kind enough to offer $20 and $40 vouchers and refunds which you and I should be really happy about.

Sure that you lost a few video games for $10 but is it worth your time arguing back and forth to no avail? Go outside, learn a new hobby, play with your kids, explore new places, find the Loch Ness monster or try new foods.

I'm not here to take any sides, I'm just trying to be the voice of reason but it seems OzBargainers have taken it a bit far yet again.

    • +18

Do you realise how patronising you sound there at the end? Learn a new hobby? Try new foods? Your post had valid points until you ruined it by acting like you are OzBargain's new self-appointed life coach.

      • I've said it before, and I'll say it again…

      • +2

Sorry didn't mean to come across that way.

    • +6

I think it's more the stalling or possible lying we're upset with.
Newer titles for all of them are quite easy to find in the Australian marketplace. It's also the Fact that in this day an age it's really quite unacceptable to have a online store with a non functioning stock counter. It's 2013 this issue should have been sorted out by now. They new exactly what would happen with a $10 sale/clearance whatever they wish to call it, it doesn't matter. They took my order and money and I expect to receive what I ordered. If they can't source the games from an original supplier/Whole seller they can walk right on down to the nearest Jb hifi or other game selling store and pick up the games they sold to get to us. Also the fact many of these titles sitting currently on the shelves at their stores while our orders are "back ordered" or out right cancelled which they can't even do and buying us off with gift cards to solve the "problem" doesn't really help make this whole thing seem right.

Doesn't matter if it is discontinued or clearance stock. If they were selling it and ACCEPTING our payments then I see no reason why we should not "overreact" when they are lying their way out (some stores had stock on sale when it should have been taken of shelves to complete online orders etc.) and how on earth do we know how much stock they had. It was their resposnsibility to stop online game sales when they ran out of stock. Not my problem when they failed to sort out their inventory, I'm a paying customer and I am rightfully entitled to what I have paid for. Seems like you are complicating things - In simple terms, you go to a shop, you pay them, you receive your goods and everyone is happy. And it doesn't take me longer than 5 minutes to check up on this page and write a few words so I don't see how that's wasting time when they are holding my money and I can't communicate with them (so how am I suppose to let this go and leave the home to smell flowers?). We have not taken this far, WE WANT WHAT WE PAID FOR!!! D:

(Also, it wasn't a 13 minute wait, it's been more than a week for me and I suspect it will be longer)

If these are the "Good Guys", I wonder who are the "Bad guys"?

      Hardly Normal

  • Anyone contacted ACCC? No? Why not? Giving Good Guys time to sort it out or you know this case might not progress? Take a chill pill guys. "k" from the post above has a point.

For the benefit of everyone monitoring this thread, please go to ACCC and save us reasonable OzBargainers the vile threat and drama.
