Still not heard anything from Good Guys "customer" services, other than the response in this thread.

    • You are not alone man, hope they will call today.

      • Same here i ordered at 7:50 am and still haven't heard a thing.

    • Your last sentence makes little sense. English??

        Hi megatallica,

Can I help you with something?

        Carla DV

        • He should mean that the order with 10 copies of Luigi U should not be fully fulfilled and should be reduce to only 1 copy as JB did in the past

        • +1

          Hi shinichiduy,

Sorry - I'm not privvy to people's actual orders.
I will pass on your feedback for 'limiting copies' in future sales though.

          Carla DV

  • +5

Ok guys. I've called 5 of my local stores in SA in relation to the 3DS games that they have.

It seems like all they have is pokemon x/y which everyone must have gotten a copy anyway.

So the giftcard that you get is useless. Most people on this thread are interested in games, not microwaves or blenders. The giftcards they have offered are essentially useless.

DO NOT ACCEPT A REFUND. You have this choice. TGG will have to fulfill your order no matter what.

The giftcard is next to useless for games.

  • Still no news about my order. Tried calling them since last week and it was always busy, I tried to call them again today, still busy =.=

  • +1

Are you going to be restocking games, or what? The gift card is useless unless unless I'm able to get Zelda: A Link between Worlds with it.

    • +3

I think that's the whole point. Offer giftcards as a form of recovering some goodwill towards TGG, and then severely hampering the redemption of the giftcards for games thus rendering it useless.

Its almost like offering customers a $2000 gift voucher applicable with purchases of $100000000 or more.

      • I knew TGG would do this. I think I mentioned from the beginning that the gift cards were useless.

      • Makes me so mad. Can't believe a business can be this greedy and have such a lack of care for its customers.

        • +2

I wouldn't say greedy. I mean, some of us here are greedy too, ordering games that we don't want just to flog it on ebay.

But, the part about not caring about customers seems to be true for the moment.

        • When I say greedy, I mean superficially offering us compensation when in fact they clearly want us to go in and buy non-gaming goods (TVs, fridges etc)

        • Ok. That makes more sense in this context.

        • +9

  • +12

    Hi everyone,

I spoke to ACCC this morning and was told I don't have to accept the refund. If The Good Guys isn't able to fulfill my order I can escalate the issue with ACCC or I can request them to change my order and ship me equivalent titles from the sale which they are able to source.

I ordered the Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, but if they can't get these for me then I would rather receive Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gate to Infinity and Pokemon Black Version 2 instead of a refund.

    • When they called me I spoke to the rep, and I specifically requested that my heart gold and soul silver be replaced (like Mystery Dungeon) if my items were out of stock — and he said, "I'm sorry, they weren't the games you ordered so unfortunately we cannot replace the games as you didn't order them in the sale".

I thought to myself, HELLO!!!!!! You cannot fulfill my order of which you have taken my money already and now you give me this total BS? I am only trying to assist in this mess of a process in selecting games which you have stated you can 100% acquire

      Thanks for your comment kamoi.

Carla, can you please let us know if you will offer replacement titles for like games if you cannot fulfill our initial orders? I am only going on information that the ACCC has provided us.

      Thank you all

      • They Probably want to fulfill all the orders with the stock they have before they allocate the stock to you

      • Hi banzini,

The games that we can supply, ie: the list you are referring to, means that we have purchased those extra titles to fulfil existing orders in the system.

Not sure what other information you have been provided with.

        Carla DV

        • Thanks for the response. I can see how you need to fulfill the initial orders first before replacing titles.

Thinking more this drags on, more I may just ask for my refund.

        • Hi banzini,

If you want to cancel your order and request a refund, just send your order back to the webmaster email address stating that you wish to cancel and activate a refund, and they will take care of it for you.

          Carla DV

        "Dora the Explorer" for everyone!

    • Hmm, interesting.

    • Thanks Kamoi, thats a good news for us. I DON'T want REFUND. Ordered some XBOX games.

  • Got my call, Half my games can be sent, the other half ill have to wait till the end of the week, plus I got a $40 voucher.

  • +2

Been over a week and still no phone call…..

    • Finally received my phone call, the guy told me what I already know. Basically just reading the email they sent out..

  • +2

Carla, what is going to happen to the orders from people who missed the call or who cannot be reached? Will they just keep getting bumped until there is no stock left?

    • +1

      Hi stumo,

Your order is your order. It's been allocated to you - and your products, if available, will not 'go to the next person' if you miss your call.

I am not sure what would happen with people who cannot ever be reached … but I doubt that will be an issue for anyone from Ozbargains.

      Carla DV

      • yes, we can be a whiny vocal bunch.

  • Hi Reps, still no phone call here!! Could you please confirm if your customer care staffs are still calling for those who haven't got a phone call. How long we need to wait again?? Friday?? Explain and explain.

    • I'm in a similar boat to sonic2011 here - aside from an initial email telling me my order would be cancelled and I had no say in the matter (which they did, and I'm not happy about), I haven't heard anything via phone or email about my 2nd order. It'd be great to know whether or not they think they've called everyone and we just got missed, or if they're halfway through etc.

    • HI sonic2011 and Dominus,

The Customer Care Team are definitely still working through calls.

      Carla DV

  • Well I finally got a call from GG. Turns out my copy of Halo 4 will be sent this week. That's a pleasant surprise because I honestly didn't expect to receive it. Little big planet via and Kid Icurus however are on back order so I elected to take the $40 gift card. All in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I got the game I wanted most, plus a refund, plus $40 (which I intent to use to buy a link between worlds).

    • Happy to hear this shaun18001,

      Carla DV

      • i requested a refund but was also told i will receive a $40 giftcard for troubles caused is that still the case?

    • -2

Don't think the gift card is valid for game purchases…

      • +2

Well, it is valid for game purchases.

but ONLY if you can actually find a game anywhere right now.

  • So people
Getting calls now are being told what Telnet be receiving and when…so all the people who got
Called in the last few days with no real concrete information all get called up again to let them know what is going on?

  • i missed my call and when i try to talk to the people on the support line they give me the standard line that they will get around to calling me. They will not give me any info on my order at all :/

  • Only received the Nintendo list email which is not relevant to anything I ordered but no calls from TGG yet. Can I assume all orders will be delivered?

    • Yes, but the delivery time frame is currently "Takes 2 to ∞ days for your order to be fulfilled"

    • That isnt a "Nintendo" List, that is a list of titles that can definitely be sourced, they just happen to all be Nintendo products.

      • Actually that is a Nintendo list.

The distribution for every game on the list is handled directly by Nintendo Australia. This leads me to believe that they either haven't heard back from other distributors or they just haven't asked.

        • Hi kamoi,

I can confirm that we have been sourcing product from all available suppliers.

          Carla DV

        • Good to hear. Can we expect another email to let us know what other titles have been sourced?

        • Hi kamoi,

I think at this stage we are dealing with everyone individually.
If I hear anything different I will let you know.

          Carla DV

  • -2

Carla I forgot to ask the guy at the care center, when should I expect the games that can be sourced?

    • It took me 10 seconds to find the list in this deal.

      · NDS Pokemon Black
      · NDS Pokemon White
      · NDS Pokemon Black Version 2
      · NDS Pokemon White Version 2
      · 3DS Nintendo dogs & Cats: Golden Retriever
      · 3DS Nintendo dogs & Cats: French Bulldog
      · 3DS Dead or Alive Dimensions
      · 3DS Resident Evil Revelations
      · 3DS Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gate to Infinity
      · 3DS Lego City Undercover The Chase Begins

      • thats not what I ask, I got the call and they said they have 5 of the games I order(which are on the list) and that they will be sent to me. Im ASKING when are they going to send the ones that are sourced.

        • +1

          Hi megatallica,

The dispatches are happening already. (Sorry I don't have access to details of your personal order.)

          Carla DV

        • +2

          Hi Carla,

When you say the dispatches are happening already, does that mean only orders where every game could be supplied are being sent out? Or are you also sending out partial orders where some games the person has ordered are in stock, and then sending out the backordered games in their order at a later date if/when you manage to get more from the suppliers?

          Cheers.

        • +1

          Hi DragonShadow,

          I'll find out for you.

          Carla DV

        • +1

          Hi DragonShadow,

Best information I have so far is full orders are being dispatched as the stock comes in.

The Customer Care Team are giving everyone they call their best understanding of eta's.

If any of this changes I will update you all here.

          Carla DV

  • So it's getting close to the end of the week - are we still expecting to get the games such as Pokemon Black/White 2 by Friday?

    • +1

Get them by Friday? Honestly… No.
I don't even think the whole situation is going to be resolved within a week. We are still waiting with no information on other games being successfully sourced and just getting generic calls. Once the calls are a bit more personalised it will start wrapping up.

I think they will send all games that can definitely be sourced per order and save shipping costs.

Should note that some people have been lucky.

  • +1

Hi Carla I was wondering, I like many others don't have our paypal phone number updated nor wish to (hand our phone numbers out) and receive a call from you/any businesses. You have our emails will we at any point be receiving a personalized email regarding whats happening with our particular order? If not what will be happening in regards to those who don't give you a number?

    • +1

      Hi Scaregdearimasu,

I just need to let everyone know that the best way to be contacted, re your order, will be by phone.

If you are unreachable via the number provided your details will be collated for email contact.

      Carla DV

      • Good to know.
        Thanks for the response.

      • +7

Has anyone been contacted via email by GG's in relation to their specific orders (not just the generic bulk emails that have been spammed out)? Or are GG customer care not bothering with that method of communication and just phoning people?

Honestly, with the amount of confusion, misinformation, spin and changing stories from GG staff (depending on whether people ring a store direct, ring the regular CC helpline, get contacted by the Telstra call centre staff, or Carla posts something in this thread) I really, really want to see these offers/conversations in writing via email. Then we can start comparing notes between each other to see exactly what is being offered/ said to each of us or, worse case scenario, so it can forwarded on to the ACCC.

At the moment with all of this being done via phone we are in the situation where anything that gets taken to the ACCC is purely "he said/she said", and GG maintain plausible deniability about anything they have said to customers.

Fool me once and all that, I'd much rather GG began to come clean with all of this and start putting things in writing.

        • Nothing personalized in email form yet…

        • Just the generic email so far.

  • So .. was just wondering where my 2 games I had ordered (and was notified they had been allocated) had got too and came here to find 15 pages of frustration .. trying to catch up.. am I right with the following details?

    • too many orders not enough stock ( surprise surprise)
    • Some games are available and will be sent out as order are fullfilled (a list of DS games was above.. fairly short list though)
    • people were meant to be called by the end of last week and told about this
( raise your hand if you haven't been called - me)
    • a $40 vouchure is offered if your order is not completely full filled.
    • you can cancel your order and still get a $40 vouchure
    • order fulfilment time frames are unknown

Is this right? … maybe the description should be updated by mods to clarify this?

    • +1

The $40 voucher depends on the size/value/number of combined orders. You may either be offered $0, $20 or $40, no higher number has been publicly disclosed yet to my knowledge. Based on having 2 games you are likely to be offered $0 or $20, lowest offer for $40 I've seen is 3 games.

Also the timeframe on the call has moved around a lot and I think its currently this friday. You should be able to call the phone number (tomorrow) and get an update if you are still waiting but be prepared to wait on hold.

Just a couple more days and you should know what you're getting but I doubt it will happen so soon.
I hope you get all your games.

  • Got the courtesy call just now, the lady apologised and basically said that either I can refund you now or wait till Friday to know what's happening with the stocks regarding my order (PS3 Games).

No mention of the gift card btw. So I said I'll wait till Friday.

  • +7

It's not the amount of money involved (i only ordered 3 games) but the way The Good Guys have gone about this sale is appalling. If I listed a product for sale on eBay and sold tens of thousands of the product knowing that I didn't have any in stock, took everyone's money and then held onto the money for 10+ days, wouldn't it be considered fraud?

JB HiFi doesn't take money until stock is actually allocated so why do TGG?

When I spoke to the call center today they indicated that an announcement would be made on Friday and the guy I spoke to suggested it would be to say stock was exhausted and automatic refunds would be processed.

The guy said the online orders weren't collated until the afternoon of the sale so no in-store stock had even been allocated to online orders until after 4pm when they contacted stores. This means most stock was sold in store on the day of the sale or even on the following days as reported in this thread.

I asked him what % of online orders were fulfilled and he couldn't tell me but hinted it was very little like less than 5%. He said he had seen hardly any orders where a game was not listed as 'back ordered'. Also asked if they had secured any other stock from suppliers and he said he wasn't aware that they had.

I told him not to automatically refund my payment and got a reference number to be able to provide to the ACC or Dept of Fair Trading. Have many people contacted the ACCC or Department of Fair Trading? Or is everyone waiting for Friday?

    • +3

      I'm waiting until Friday.

Sorry but JB did this to me too with the Rayman Origins deal for 3DS over a month ago but were a lot faster by comparison to fix the situation.

    • The hole just keeps getting deeper.

      • +9

        That's what she said

    • -1

      Hi uclee,

Not sure where to start on this one, but I guess the best place is - I'm not sure why you've been told all this, as some of it is odd - and not exactly factual.

For example - "He said he had seen hardly any orders where a game was not listed as 'back ordered'"
This most likely indicates that he was assigned to work through a list of orders with back-ordered titles only. Therefore he probably wasn't privvy to lists of all the customers whose orders we have already fully dispatched - orders with no back-order titles at all.

At any rate - I'm glad you bought this to my attention - as, it's really important that the information you all receive is accurate.

I see you're a new Ozbargains member - are you able to PM? If so can you please let me know your order number so I can try and get some clarity for you.

      Thanks

      Carla DV

      • "I'm not sure why you've been told all this" = Employee said what he wasn't supposed to say.

"If so can you please let me know your order number" = So I can see what employee was assigned to handle your order.

"This most likely indicates that he was assigned to work through a list of orders with back-ordered titles only." = But wasn't informed that he was only working through a list of back-ordered titles.

      • -2

Not trying to be a douche, but its ozbargain, not ozbargains. Lol seems a bit petty but I thought id point it out before someone abuses you.

      • Hi Carla, if I PM you will my order be magically filled? It would be a shame if you are prioritising people who message you. If not, what clarity can you provide that the call centre couldn't?

        • I have a bad feeling that the employee will get into trouble, and you won't be magically prioritised. I PMed her and despite her promises, nothing happened.

    • +2

If you pulled this stunt on eBay - selling stock you didn't have and then not refunding buyers - they would ban you forever.

  • +7

Hi Carla, thanks for your reply.

If the information I was given was not factual, can you please provide some actual facts?

    For example:

    1. Will refunds be automatically processed on Friday or will orders that are back-ordered be left open until stock arrives in December?
    2. What % of games sold are likely to actually be fulfilled?
    3. What % of customers are likely to receive their order?
    4. How much additional stock have you received from suppliers to date? (not franchisees)
    5. Why were orders placed early in the morning not fulfilled first?
    6. Why was money taken from bank accounts without an order being confirmed and when TGG knew they had insufficient stock?

With all due respect, you're the social media marketing manager so I'm not sure I understand what extra clarity can you provide me that the call center you've outsourced to handle this issue couldn't provide?

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks for your help.

    • +7

      What we know so far.

Will refunds be automatically processed on Friday or will orders that are back-ordered be left open until stock arrives in December?
      - I think at this stage TGG's are dealing with everyone individually.

What % of games sold are likely to actually be fulfilled?
      - Many, many.

What % of customers are likely to receive their order?
      - Sorry TGG's can't give updates on personal orders.

How much additional stock have you received from suppliers to date?
      - TGG have been sourcing product from all available suppliers.

Why were orders placed early in the morning not fulfilled first?
      - Luck of the draw. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get your order through!

Why was money taken from bank accounts without an order being confirmed and when TGG knew they had insufficient stock?
      - I'll find out for you.

    • These are the questions people want answers to. And they are the ones no one is answering.

Still no games, no call, no refund, no nothing.

  • +1

Are people still getting phone calls? I haven't received a call yet and I'm wondering what happens with the gift card offer if you don't get a call (hope that makes sense).

I have been notified by email that my Pokémon X will be sent and I should have it this week (yay!). I was told they don't know when other items will be sent but they were hoping to know something soon.

There was no mention of a gift card but I don't think I was dealing with the right person for that. Hoping to still get a call.

    • -3

Why did you order poke X anyway? It wasn't as though it was cheap

      • It was cheap, not $10 cheap, but cheap for a new release Pokemon game.

      • +1

It was $47 and was included in an order with 5 x $10 games - all back-ordered.

      • Wow, the negs came in quick. It was just a question.

It was $44 at bigW twice.

        • +2

Haha I thought you were going to say it was $25 somewhere. I think I can live with paying $3 more since I am nowhere near a BIG W.

I mentioned it because it shouldn't have been back-ordered. It was an advertised sale that was listed as in-stock on their site well after the $10 sale. I think it was automatically put on back-order because it was with the $10 games.

I don't think it's on the site any more and the Y is back up to $58.

  • Hi Carla, I have sent you a PM.

If you can help me out in any way regarding that issue I would appreciate it.

    • +1

Hi kamoi - I have responded.

      Carla DV

  • +1

Got a message today when I got home that I got a call from Good Guys.
Just saying they will have it sorted by end of week.
If they can get the games they will send them, if not a refund and a $40 gift card.

    • +3

Isnt that we knew it already? What we really need to know is whether they can get the games and if not, why so because for some recent titles like Luigi U, you cannot just say that you cannot find them anywhere, which is still being sold by other retailers in Australia.

      • +5

"you cannot just say that you cannot find them anywhere, which is still being sold by other retailers in Australia."

I don't get this logic - what are TGG supposed to do, buy the stock from other retailers at retail price just to fulfil their obligations? Even in the unlikely situation that TGG would even consider this, I highly doubt that the other retailers would allow it because it'd mean that their own customers wouldn't be able to buy it - it's not just a matter of making the profit from the sale of the one game, it's the opportunity cost of lost sales of customers shopping at their stores and buying it in conjunction with other items.

The other part of course is what Nintendo of Australia is willing to sell to TGG. After all, flooding the market with cheap stock will devalue their product, which no wholesaler is willing to do. They can and do exercise some control over the limit to discounting of their products by retailers. See for example back in the Wii days when NoA simply stopped selling to Harvey Norman because they felt Gerry was screwing them too hard on price. Again, it's not about the profits but the consequences of price distortion in the market.

    Here's hoping for tomorrow ( Friday )
