I have contacted them, awaiting response!

      • Good for you. Hope it gets resolved soon and everyone will know whats what when a similar case happens in the future.

Edit: And your action stop anyone from invoking ACCC as a counter to a somewhat reasonable, though not perfect, response from TGG.

  • Still waiting for a call….

  • Just got off the phone.

5 games mentioned in the email is available. 11 others are unsure of until Friday.

$40 gift card will be sent out.

I didn't think it was Telstra like some were saying. I asked and it wasn't.

    • They wouldn't tell you that, but I think it's a call centre that companies can hire (?)
Googling the number shows people listing it as a Telstra 24/7 number.

      • Yep. Googling shows it as Telstra.

Maybe it can be Telstra or whatever is needed. Who knows :/

        • what games are available?

These are ones we will definitely be getting.

    I understand the anger.

When I got Koganed on the Galaxy S4 "price error" deal I was very angry.

I had ordered a phone and they took the money and for a while I felt pretty good at having got a nice bargain. Then when they cancelled the order I felt like they had stolen my phone. Swore I'd never buy anything at Kogan again (but in the end I did end up using the gift voucher they gave me), and eventually I got over it.

The Goof Guys have made a mistake, and yes haven't handled this well. They could have just cancelled everyones order a week ago and we'd all have our money back and be over it by now but they are still trying to fill whatever they can.

Everyone feels their order is the most important and they should be getting called up straight away. Look at it this way, if the store that was allocated your order had 300+ orders to process and spent just 10 minutes picking up each order and making a phone call, it would take over 50 hours to get through them all (more than one week for one person working full time), on top of all their normal store activities.

Just have to wait it out and see what games you eventually get and accept a refund on the rest, or lodge a PayPal claim or Credit Card charge back now (which probably won't even get your money back any faster).

    • +4

While I agree with you, the kogan fiasco was the result of a price error. The good guys planned this clearance sale and should have known better that selling at these prices would be popular.

      • They should take accountability for their mistakes and send us the games we paid for, not a "sorry dude, here's a $20 voucher for your troubles"

      • The good guys obviously made an error in estimating the popularity of the deal and their own systems ability to keep track of stock levels.

        • -1

Maybe. I read that games now make more money than movies. So it doesn't take much brain power to realize when you sell them at such a low price, there's going to be a buying frenzy.

        • -1

Video games sell for around 5x the price of a movie ticket, so it's only logical that their sales (in $) are much higher than movies.

In real terms, CoD: Black Ops grossed US$1.5b as the biggest selling game (up to Q4 2012 - couldn't find any info on later releases). Avatar took in US$760m. So really, movie tickets sell over twice as many "units" as games.

**Not sure if movie figures include DVD/blu-ray sales, etc.

If TGG sold ANYTHING for 20% (or less) of RRP, you'd expect tons of bargain-hunters. Especially via OzBargainers!! :-p

Edit: Figures are all US-based totals. D'oh!! But the point should still stand world-wide if we could get figures…

        • +1

Avatar grossed $2.73 billion worldwide. Unless we are talking US only?

        • +1

          Ah, was US-only figures. /facepalm
If it helps, I think the CoD figure was US-based too. But if you extended the figures worldwide, I'm sure the same ratios & point would stand. :-)

        • Don't forget bluray, DVD and Merchandising!

James Cameron made ~$350 million. He is also making three more movies to further line his pockets

        • GTA V has also become the fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion, which it did in just three days, eclipsing film and music releases. I'm also reading it has now gross over $3 billion

hehe yeah, I figured that surely out of all the users complaining in this thread there might be 1 or 2 mature users with gift cards, who since they have decreed they are going to boycott The Good Guys and not use the gift cards.. may be willing to part with them.

If you never ask, you never know.

  • Hi Carla, My allocated store said they would call me on Thursday they didn't, they apologized and said they would make me a priority and call me soon, its now Tuesday and I still haven't gotten a call. Whats up? Should I all the store back?

    • Hi megatallica,

I am making an assumption that you have not yet received a call from the Customer Care Team.

If that assumption is correct - the allocated store will have very little information for you at present.

The Customer Care Team will be the ones who will tell you what is happening with your order. If you like you can message me your order and details - I can try to flag it with Customer Care.

If my assumption is wrong however … let me know, and I'll start again!

I just got a call from the 03 8612 3900 number but couldn't pick up since I was in a conference call. No voicemail was left so I'm guessing they'll try again. Can someone confirm on this please?

    • That is the number I would of taken the call only last for 30 seconds lol

      • Gah! I just missed a call from these guys, was on the phone to a client at the time. What was the purpose of the call? To offer you a refund / gift card / or inform you of the order status?

        • Hi Velocita,

The call is to discuss what is happening with your order.
You can try calling them back on 1300 466 348

          Carla DV

        • Cheers Carla :)

    • +2

I just got the same 30 minutes ago, no voicemail left… how hard would it be to leave a voicemail? Absolutely hopeless customer service!

    • Lol when you call the number back it just says "the number you have called is unavailable"

      • That's the whole point. It is to place you at the mercy of the call center.

    • Hi blahoz, Mr Jeep, cloudsdbz

The missed call number is an out-bound line only - set up so the team can continue to keep calling customers.

If you wish to contact the Customer Care Team yourself, try this number: 1300 466 348

      Carla DV

      • Thanks Carla. I'll be in an out of meetings until around 5.30pm today so won't have time to call until after that. Do you know what time the Customer Care Team finish their day?

        • Hi blahoz,

I believe the Team finish around 5.30/6pm tonight and will start back up again tomorrow.
If you can try right on 5.30pm you might be good. Alternatively - if there is a better day time contact number you have, please message it to me and I'll get your details updated.

        • carla how do i get a refund and is it instant?
do i do it threw paypal or what.

        • Hi Stalls,

If you would like to activate a refund simply put the request in writing to the email address you will find on your web order.

Refunds are processed within 10 working days normally - but we are escalating any Games Sales customer's refunds requested within 48hrs.

Just a note though - depending on which bank you are with it can sometimes take time for the transaction to appear on your account. Paypal has a number of ways to 'pay' via - so it may be the same with them.

          Hope that helps …

  • Hi Carla,
Was wondering if theres any way to find out about an order, I have emailed customer service to say that I am out of the country for a short period, that only got me another copy of the generic email that was sent. I have otherwise not heard anything since I was allocated the Bundall store last week.

Regards and thankyou for the time you have put into this thread.

    • Hi Dancrook,

When are you heading away? (For security you can Message me this info if you prefer.)

      Carla DV

  • +2

Maybe we should all say we are "going away" and might get our order completed before others…

    • +1

      Or cancelled.

      • Should I have just said I will be out of phone contact? - we are all in the same boat, no-one is asking to have their order prioritised, we are just seeking information from the best source available to us at the moment.

        • I'm not talking about you or anyone who is going away directly. But if tgg are prioritising people saying they are going away soon, then that is just plain unfair.

        • +2

          Hi Danstar,

Just to assure you - my above question was simply to ascertain whether the poster would be away after I believe we will get through all the calls.

I have offered many people on Ozbargains alternative modes of communication, or to update to their phone numbers etc. - my main aim is to make sure everyone gets their calls.

          Hope that helps to clarify,

          Carla DV

  • +4

it seems theres no priority when it comes to orders, people who purchased in the afternoon got some of their games, i ordered 7.30 am and no calls so far.

  • +5

Decided I had waited long enough for a call from the Good Guys so just gave them a ring on the number above (1300 466 348). The guy on the other end just gave me some generic spiel "very high demand! trying our best! please continue to wait!". Tried to give him my order number and wouldn't even look, then I tried to ask him about some specific games and he couldn't get me off the phone quick enough.

I was trying to give The Good Guys the benefit of the doubt but pretty bad customer service from the "Customer Care Team" with this guy refusing to go off his script or answer a few simple questions. I would have preferred to have just got a recorded message with an update rather than his rudeness.

The one bit of info I did get out of it was that they have apparently ordered more games from somewhere and are expecting them around December 10. Wouldn't give any further info though so no idea if this is just those games mentioned in their email over the weekend of if these are new ones.

    • +1

while I would rather the games than a refund, posting them after the 10th of December is ridiculous

  • +1

Carla, I appreciate that you are answering everyone questions, but our real concern is when will you order the games and ship them to us ?

I've heard excuses how New Super Luigi U is a new game and you will not be honoring this price. Well, if it's such a new game, it should be in stock from your supplier and send it to us.

I only ordered one copy of this one game and I would appreciate it if I received what I paid for.

    • +1

      Hi lakers1222,

When you get your call from the Customer Care Team please let them know your concerns.
My understanding is that we are trying to source as many games to fulfil orders as we can, regardless of how old or new a game is - if we can get it we will supply it.

      Carla DV

      • +1

I received a call from Customer Care Team telling my it was out of stock. I was offered a refund, but I rather wait for my order to be fulfilled.

  • +4

BTW the people complaining about GG customer service, heres some retrospective, I got the Chest Edition of Assassins creed 4 last week, it came damaged in the mail, ubisoft asked me for photos of the damage and I haven't heard back since, its almost been a week. Their phone lines are always closed for some reason and I cant get through to anyone. That is bad customer service. GG are doing a great job trying to fix reverting up.

  • will they just give us store credit/gift cards instead of refunds? i hope not.

    • Hi Farrba,

If you request a refund you will get it - no questions asked.

Had a missed call from good guys this afternoon so rang them back as per the number from Carla. Waited on hold for ten minutes and then spoke with lady called Amanda. Apparently she was having system problems but would restart and call me back within 30 mins.

We are now at the 50 Min mark with no call back and going from what Carla mentioned they are now closed.

    This is an absolute joke.

Still no call either, I will speak to my friend who is a solicitor and see where I stand in this situation. I wonder if worth while filing claim in small claims court??

        Mate you need a hobby.

Got my call today re my 3 xbox games that were supposed to come from Robina.

Nice chap whoever it was I spoke to. He was quite pleasant despite the obvious abuse he and the others must be copping.

They will inform by the end of the week re games, he said they were attempting to source as many of the games as possible and regardless of whether they could or not, I would be getting a $40 gift card.

See what the end of the week brings I suppose shrug

    • I too ordered 3 Xbox games allocated to Robina. I was optimistically reading your post hoping that you were told good news :)

  • +5

Man I've gotta say, I've tried to be pretty patient and understanding about this whole thing and have mostly refrained from the commenting/bagging going on here, but this really is an absolute shambles. Just got an email today from paypal indicating one of my orders was being refunded, no call or email from TGG to follow up and certainly no offer of a giftcard like some other people here have mentioned. I didn't WANT or ASK for my order to be cancelled, and specifically emailed my details through to Carla to ensure it didn't get canned after those extra games became available!

Haven't had a call or email still about my larger order, but I fully expect it to just show up as a paypal refund a week from now with nary a word from TGG about it :-/ I get they're doing the best they can, but seriously, not cool :-(

    • +1

I also have yet to receive a call wouldn't surprise me if my order was just cancelled randomly without any correspondence.

      • Bummer mate, what store was yours allocated to? Mine was Casula and Carringbah - one of the five games I was told had shipped (haven't received it), and my refund was for $32 not $42, so who knows whether one of the other games will actually turn up as well or if I'll just be out a tenner…

(oh and my larger order of 12 games was from Penrith, that's the one I've not heard anything about)

        • Belmont WA and Moorabin VIC with 5 and 2 games respectively.

        • I dont know if the calls are done store by store or whatever but it seems like the belmont store is slack cause alot of people havent heard from them.

        • seems like it… or i can be hopeful and assume they sent out all the games so there was no need to call :P dreaming…

        • +1

I think Penrith NSW is much the same as a mate of mine placed an order a few minutes before me and it got allocated there, and he's heard nothing either.

        • Mine was allocated to Moorabbin as well. I've had two phone calls, one last Thursday saying I would get Pokemon Black 1 and White 2 but that Soul Silver was out of stock and I'd be getting a $20 voucher. Then another call on Monday saying they were still trying to find out if they could get more Soul Silver and that it would be a $40 voucher. If there's going to be a long delay getting some games, will they be sending out partial orders earlier and then the additional games when they come in? Or are they just going to wait til if/when they can send all games in the order at once?

Who knows what's really going on lol I really just want my games, I'm not too fussed if they take a while to get here, but I'd be rapt if they could find another Soul Silver after all (not getting my hopes up, though).

        • Hi Heisenberg,

Just wanted to clarify - the individual stores are not holding up anyone's calls or orders. All calls are coming through a central team set up specifically to call customers direct re their orders.

          Carla DV

  • +1

This must be close to one of the longest thread on Ozbargain …lol

    • I reckon the kogan s4 price error was longer

      • and the dick smiths flash sale was long too!

        • Don't forget the Ep121 Tablet, over 2,000 comments(!)

And Supercow was never sighted again… (although I now see they logged in recently)

  • Hi everyone/Carla. I don't know if anybody else has had this problem, but I just ordered a couple of PS3 games, and after prompting, I received an email with my order number. I then received a call (last Thursday, I think) asking me what games I had ordered, because they just came up on the system as "Playstation 3 Game". I figured this meant I had very little chance of receiving them, and I won't be heartbroken, but my money was taken. I never received any store allocation email or anything like that. I'm just antsy to find out what's going on.
Is this an unusual situation? I've had a bit of skim through these pages and not seen it, but I might have missed it. Fingers crossed.

    • Hi Brennyburger,

If you look at your web order you should be able to see the game titles all specified.
Do you remember who called you?

      Carla DV

      • Hi Carla,
I'm not sure what you mean by "look at your web order"? I remembered which games I ordered, I just thought that was unusual, and figured I might have dropped down the pecking order if people were already being allocated to stores and sent their orders. The number was 03 8346 0522, but I didn't catch the name of the person (the call was at 6:45am Perth Time). Should I just cross my fingers and wait to hear something?
        Thanks.

        • Hi Brennyburger,

Sorry if I've misunderstood your request. I thought you were worried that there was an original processing order issue. But sounds like that's all fine.

You can wait for the Customer Care Team to call you again, or you can try to call them yourself on - 1300 466 348

          Carla DV

        • Hi,
Just got the call. Being refunded the $22 and receiving a $40 gift card. Oh well, can't complain about that.
          Thanks.

  • +3

Like many I have refrained from commenting, but it is now a week since my order (only a couple games). I have recieved an email stating allocated to what store (Melton) and thent he generic email from last week that everyone got. I have sat and waited, not called Customer Care or thew allocated store, becuase I knew how busy they would be trying to sort it all out. But if I sit back will I miss out entirely on the games, refund, store credit etc? There is a saying about the sqeauky wheel, so will the people that have made all the fuss and noise get their games, etc ahead of others and the others like me that just sit back and wait, miss out on everything? I sure hope not.

    • +2

I was allocated to Melton too & I am still yet to hear anything either. I think I've been patient long enough & I will call tomorrow I think.

      • Mine's Melton too - had a call last Fri. If calls are coming from the same generic number(s), it's probably not the stores being slack but something to do with the order the call centre is tackling the orders.

    • I was wondering the same thing. I've decided to just keep an eye out on the thread hearing all the stories about their orders, with some at least getting calls of good, bad and mixed news, but it was an update none the less. Its now been exactly 8 days since I placed my order for 2 games and has received the same communication of store allocation (Nunawading) and a generic email noting the DS/3DS games which were not in my order.

Basically no offers of a store credit, no phone calls of updates, and a website saying BackOrdered on the two items. I'll still wait patiently, I am in no strain of money (or games in my ever increasing backlog), but like Dazzza, I too am wondering if the order of service is of the noisiest rather than the (what I would find more appropriate) First in First out model based of the time the orders were placed.

    • Hi dazza,

All games in stock have been allocated to orders, any credits you are due will be delivered and any titles we can get in are getting matched to orders already in the system - I can assure you there is no preference given to the 'squeaky wheels' over those being a little more patient.

It's just taking a bit of time to call each individual customer up and discuss their individual requests.

On a personal note - I'd like to thank everyone who has been patient, we really do appreciate it.

      Carla DV

  • For those received calls for a refund more than $100, did they mention about issueing the $10 store credit from this promo? http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/store_credit…
