    When a website gets hammered like this, do things just rectify once the load decreases or is there some human input required to reset, ie is their website likely to work later tonight or no chance until somebody fixes it tomorrow?

      The simple answer is "it depends"… If it's well designed it'll slow down under load and recover itself when the load drops, if it's not then it'll need some hand-holding.

    Site is still rather broken. I eventually got to a working checkout after an hour, and now it's having fun repeatedly asking me about the shipping method.

    No, really, I do want free shipping, now let me get to the bit where I give you money! ;)

    EDIT: 20 minutes later and finally "almost" completed checkout. As in, Paypal has debited the account but the Mobileciti checkout says "there has been an error processing your request"…
