Virgin Broadband, 3 months free on $39 5gb plan, BYO modem and no contract

160

Ok heres my first time submitting so go easy :)

If you sign up to Virgin Broadband, you can get 3 months free on the $39 per month 5gb plan. You must bring your own wireless modem, and you will be given $39 credit on your 3rd, 4th and 5th bills. So i guess you are paying for the first 2 months and receiving 5 months worth of internet, and can leave at the end of that if you want.

  • This is the BEST 3GB No CONTRACT Wireless Broadband Available so far for Casual users.
It beats the competition and gives freedom to the user.

But My Question is: Where can I buy a good UNLOCKED 3GB Modem with atleast 1year Warranty?

    • +1

Maybe you can expand your search to older 3G phones that support internet connection sharing. Though it's probably not as convenient if you're planning to use it on the move.

  • It appears a good deal from a price point of view. I have virgin wireless broadband. I only urge prospective bargain hunters to read review sites and forums about the quality of service (download speeds etc) before going for it. Make an informed decision.

  • Good value. No excess usage fee which is important especially for non-techies. Have a family member on VBB and it works well for them, but I've read complaints about service quality on parts of the Optus wireless network (which Virgin uses) that are oversubscribed.

    • Our Internet is with Virgin Broadband and is terrible. Sometimes it can be workable, but it can take me numerous minutes to load a single webpage. The worst speed I've gotten is 0.2 bytes (dialup runs at up to 7168 bytes a second - my connection speed was 2 tenths of a byte)

  • i'm on VMBB i'm happy if someone is willing to take over my contract even, after my contract ends, i am going to cancel the plan, burn the modem and pretend that i've never ever subscribed to such appalling thing that could even be classed as a broadband.

  • it really depends where you are located, i found that when i first got vbb [i was a very early adopter] it was great everywhere, even in the cities, now in sydney and melbourne i find that it is next to useless most of the time as the system is being over ran in those places due to too many people using it in peak times but in smaller towns it is unbelievably good

  • My dad uses virgin wireless in the city and it's terrible. Not as bad as Three's, but it still fluctuates wildly between barely useable and useless. Having said that, I'm still going to give this a plus because I applaud any phone/ internet deal that doesn't submit you to a horrible contract, and technically its a great deal.

  • I have a nokia n95, I think I can use that as a 3G modem as you can share the internet via the usb….i think.

    mite jump on this then.

    thanks for the heads up

  • Thanks for all of the comments;
I thought that the rapidly-deteriorated Vodafone 3G (here in Sydney) was bad, but the comments on the terrible performance of Virgin (aka Optus?) and 3 (soon to be Vodafone?) 3G make me think it will do for now.

The thought of having to sign up for a THREE year contract to get a good Telstra NextG wireless plan is the only thing holding me back… or the prospect of a bargain whenever the next big thing happens for wireless 'broad'band.

    Cheers,
    Bizi

  • Good deal but we had virgin broadband and it was so bad we paid to get out of it!

  • May be a silly question but can I buy their 129 pre-paid USB modem key and connect to this deal?

  • yes you can
