New low price for this high capacity SSD (under US$0.50/GB!), and lowest price ever on Amazon according to camelcamelcamel.

Also available from B&H for ~$520 (US$473.06) shipped using UPS Worldwide Expedited: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/937922-REG/crucial_ct9…

EDIT: Amazon has now pricematched B&H. Changed the deal to the Amazon link, since Amazon has cheaper shipping options to Australia.

Wow, it was only a couple of years ago when you had to pay similar amount of dosh for a 256GB SSD and it would be slower and prone to failure as well.

One of the first few SSD deals on OzBargain — Intel X25-M 120GB for $779. That was just a bit more than 3 years ago.

        That OP's comment:

My first post, just got this in my e-mail, not a bad deal, free TB hard drive with an Intel SSD purchase, the SSD is fairly cheap to.(sic)

        LOL

      • Thanks to OzBargain, I got my 160gb Intel x25-M SSD drive for $299 at PC DIY back in 1 Nov 2010.

      • Can I confess that I bought this drive :P

Not for $779, but closer to $500, it still works to this very day.

  • My first ever crucial 128GB c300 was more than that 2years ago.

    • My first Crucial M500 120GB was just 2 weeks ago.

    • +2

My first Crucial M4 128GB was 2.5 years ago.

  • For example Umart price is $695, so this is a great deal.

  • Using Amazon currency converter I'm showing $509.64 AUS dollars delivered. Uses 1 USD = 1.1408655575 AUD which is about a 4% premium on current exchange rate.

This is getting pretty hard to resist, if I install BF4 from yesterday I'll only have 5-10GB spare capacity on my system disk (240GB).

    I really must get a 28deg card….

  • Will this work in the latest retina MacBook Pro 15"?

    • Not sure how accurate it is but Crucial have a tool on their website to check compatibility:

      http://www.crucial.com/store/ssd.aspx

It even mentions Clevo laptops which most people wouldn't bother doing so I assume if they took the effort to do that it must be somewhat accurate? Terrible logic I know.

No, you can't custom fit anything in Retina Macbook Pros.

      • +7

Yup, if you desired the ability to upgrade yourself Apple would have told you that you wanted to. ;)

  • Wondering how to pay Amazon by using US dollar?

    • Right hand side under Order Total in red is a blue dropdown to switch currency.

      • Looks like I don't have that dropdown on my page

  • Crap really tempted…but I actually want the evo 1tb… Must resist…

  • Now that's what you wanna put in your PS4's, forget this dinky SSHD stuff.

    • Now that is a fine idea. Was about to say it's overkill for my needs, but indeed the PS4 would be the perfect place to put it. I just don't feel good about upgrading it so soon and throwing away a 500GB HDD.

I'm trying to find information about its thickness and compatibility. Apparently it comes in both 7mm and 9.5mm.

I think I will eventually get one for the PS4, but I'll wait till my 500GB drive is filling. I expect it will be at least a few years before that happens, and hopefully by then there'll be an even crazier deal on this drive.

Does anyone know if the PS4 supports SATA3 drives?

As it stands, the price is good, but $446 is more than I paid to have my PS4 itself shipped to me from Amazon..

      • Does anyone know if the PS4 supports SATA3 drives?

I can't see why it wouldn't. SATA is backwards and forwards compatible.

      • Considering the size of ps4 games, you would have it filled by next year. Especially from all the christmas sales.

    • I don't think you'd want to put SSD in a PS4 because the PS4 OS wouldn't routinely TRIM the SSD. I think that would result in gradual performance degradation (as it commonly did in Android phones that didn't have their OS modified by the device maker to do this, until it became built-in for version 4.3).

I could be wrong. I don't understand it well. But this is a possible problem.

  • Amazon Price shows up as US$469.99 for me…. which actually makes B&H cheaper by a few dollars now, even with their shipping prices included… Except currently B&H Checkout is down for about 24 Hrs for some reason or another…

    • It shows up as us$469.99 for me as well.

      • +1

I bought it this morning at US$446.71 shipped and now it's showing US$469.99 for me too. They must have bumped the price back up.

        • very interesting. this now shows me US$439 and free shipping. Maybe I should grab before it changes back. oh, I see. when I actually process, it adds 7.71 for shipping & handling. then it is $446.71

          Item(s) Subtotal: AUD 500.84
          Shipping & Handling: AUD 8.80
          ——-
          Total before tax: AUD 509.64
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
          ——-
          Grand Total: AUD 509.64

    • Available at $439 right now — seems like it was only a momentary price fluctuation. :)

  • Any warranty? If yes, how many years?

    • "Three-year limited warranty"

      • but the problem is, how can I send the faulty unit for repair?

        • This forum post says Crucial will pay any return shipping costs (although the example is for Taiwan, but posted to US).

          http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Warranty-Information/Internation…

The warranty details in their own T&Cs seem to suggest return shipping is paid by the purchaser though:

          http://www.crucial.com/company/termsofsale.aspx#limited_warr…

        • I confirmed with their online chat that the buyer is responsible for shipping the faulty item to Crucial in the US, and Crucial pays return shipping back to the customer with the repaired/replaced item:

Me: For a Crucial M500 SSD purchased from Amazon US, if I need to return the item from Australia, what is the process, where is it shipped to, and who pays the shipping cost?

The agent is sending you to http://www.crucial.com/support/returns.aspx.

Jameson : This is our link to the returns information. You would pay shipping to us, and we pay the shipping of the replacement to you.

  • Backup at 469 - shouldve jumped on it..

  • Back in stock at $439, so I've unmarked as expired. :)

  • possible to put these in an enclosure?

  • +1

    $434.99 now!

    • How low can it go? :P

      Thanks, I've updated the post!
