140

Earn 10 Qantas Points per A$1 spent on Gift vouchers.

Qantas Flight Gift Vouchers are redeemable for one-way or return Qantas domestic or international travel departing Australia. Valid for bookings within 12 months of the voucher issue date. Only one voucher can be redeemed per booking. Please read full terms and conditions when you select your voucher. If the full balance of the voucher is not redeemed in one transaction, a new voucher with the same expiry date will be issued for the unused portion of that voucher.
The names of voucher recipients may be changed when you redeem the voucher. The number of people on a booking redeeming the voucher must be equal to the number of voucher recipients. The number of recipients listed cannot be changed.

You could possibly use the voucher in conjunction with this offer: QANTAS FF: Double Points with Qantas Cash + Double Status Credits + No Joining Fee to maximise your various earnings. Based on past experience, using a gift voucher will also mean you don't have to pay credit card booking fees.

There is currently a mistake in the link:
One tile says "$100 Gift Voucher and earn 1000 points",
but another tile says "$500 Gift Voucher and earn 500 points"
…hopefully they get the maths right when they allocate your points ;-)

    • I would totally use this but that alone is stopping me

It depends where you are flying FROM jv, but you can work it out here…
      https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/InitialPointsRedeem…

You also have options such as Any Seat Award Flights and Points Plus Pay, so there really isn't a single answer to your question.
…but I suspect you didn't really want one anyway ;-)

So here's the maths for the answer to your question jv.

Melbourne to London requires 128000 points for an economy return classic awards flight.

To earn 128000 points you would need to spend $12,800 on Qantas gift vouchers, if you are paying for the vouchers on the QCash card or a credit card that earns Q points, then your required spend on vouchers would be slightly less.

Keep in mind also that you would also have to pay a cash component of $662.04 to cover Qantas fees/taxes on top of the 128000 qantas points for this return
      flight to London.

Hope that answers your question to your satisfaction.
