    According to Notebook Check on A8-4555M:

    the A8-4555M performs somewhere between the ULV Pentium and Core i3 series from Intel

    Integrated Radeon HD 7600G isn't that fast either.

      I saw that, but how come they are comparing Ivy Bridge i5 and the A8 in this one, is it a different version?

      It's worrying if they say Intel has "lower consumption" than the AMD in this case. Batt life can't be more than 3-5 hours (considering a 1080p touch screen as well).

      Also, this technically isn't an Ultrabook™ which is an Intel trademark and marketing term. There are also certain specs Ultrabooks must have to obtain the name.

      I bought a very similarly specced refurb Asus (F55A) about 2 months ago for $299. It was nearly indistinguishable from brand new (as I believe most such Asus refurbs are, from comments I've seen around discussion forums and reviews on seller websites) and runs very well. A few comments for you:

      1. This processor has Intel HD graphics, which are not as advanced as the Intel "4000" series listed at Wireless1 (http://ark.intel.com/products/63915/Intel-Pentium-Processor-…).

      2. There's a single slot for the 4GB RAM - replacing it with 8GB makes a very big difference in operational speed and smoothness.

      3. Win 8 with a non-touch screen might be a recipe for frustration, judging by many comments I've seen. Personally, I'd want Win 7 for a machine like this.

      4. When Asus do the refurb, they remove the original serial number, replacing it with a factory sticker that clearly identifies it as a refurbished machine.

    Since it's running an AMD processor, it doesn't fit the "Ultrabook" specifications… AMDs responding marketing word is "Ultra-thin".
