Summer ends 28th February, not 31st January

Yeah it's a slow period for the paper, that's why they're making it free

They're all in the Bahamas spending their bonuses. Will be back to taking your money in Feb.

    • I doubt there is much in bonuses at fairfax these days

  • Thanks op

  • Seriously wondering if I can put my paid subscription (includes the Mon-Fri hardcopies) on hold!
Wonder what a good reason would be? :)

    • Complain that they are giving it away to others for free and you don't see why you should be sponsoring everyone else.

Sounds like a good reason to me.

    • going on holiday

  • Did anyone get this to work? Signed up but get the message:

They are a Fairfax publication. Every Fairfax newspaper I've read is still incensed by Tony Abbott winning a democratic election, and it's impossible for even business writers to remain objective when your organisation- from the top down- continues a daily "Get Abbott and the Liberals!" mindset.

So go read The Australian and the Daily Telegraph and nothing else then. All media contains bias. Live with it. Read widely. Learn something.

      • -6

        So go read The Australian……..

You're right. The Australian would at least attempt to appear objective. Fairfax publications these days are only a small step up from a university rag.
But I guess some people like that.

As far as I know Fairfax never did this: 1, this 2 or 3 or this 4, 5, 6 or this 7!

      • -3

Oh, you must be talking about the Daily Tele, which actually editorialised in favour of a Rudd government at the Federal election in 2007. You know, before everyone realised how hopeless and incompetent the Labor government could be. See? How easy was that?

        • -4

You've got as much shame as Fairfax. You're reduced to spruiking…..

    • Are you kidding? I have a Saturday AFR subscription and it is so pro Liberal and anti Labor it isn't funny.

I think the news Ltd extreme anti
Labor propaganda war has warped your senses.

As a full week subscriber i can definitely say the the AFR has moved to the right in recent years.
Perhaps it was the rhinehart influence - buying a chunk of shares etc etc.
The afr size as diminished of late too with fewer pages and articles.
However the drop in quality is not as pronounced as at the age where experienced journos oh higher pay scales were dropped in favour of recent graduates and a greater focus on lifestyle issues rather than news or investigative journalism.

Murdochs australia, hun etc are so right wing they barely pass for news thesedays. Just bile and right wing propaganda.
Not even worth $10 a month.

  • Got one. Thanks OP. Love the ranga avatar!!

  • Great post, OP, thanks.
