It wasn't that long ago you'd pay $5,000 for one of these…

    • +10

I'm still making payments on mine.

Salesman told me it was futureproof. He said it was 4K. Little did I know that what he meant was dollars.

        That's gold, Jerry! Gold!

    I paid $848
    Far out….

    • +1

At this rate, it should be free in about 6 months !!!

      • they'll bring out new model and charge more.
i'm guessing they're all getting rid of 2013 model
so that they can bring out new models for ridiculous prices

      • At this rate, I should get a TV and $200 cash in 9 months!!!

    • +6

JB also have it for $648 as part of their Boxing Day sale.

    • +1

      Feeling your pain :/
Also severely pissed at myself that 'three-weeks-ago-me' couldn't wait three more weeks for the boxing day sales.

"Guess you'll be wanting me to hand over my Tightarse badge and pricing-gun Sarge…"

Not buying it because I see KP (plus one for the score).

Costco deals I still find iffy/frustrating just due to the rare nature of the store.

    • +4

the rare nature of the store.

I found one hiding in Ringwood the other day…

  • Binglee selling $645 as well, link as below

    http://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-ua40f6400-series-6-40inch-…

    • That one doesn't show the cricket though…

      (my 1c worth…)

  • Bought one on boxing day at JB, failed to price match at tgg, selling at 7xx, bad guys.

Amazing sound quality, picture for soccer and other sports by native 100hz panel. Built in wifi, bt and smart tv really good too.

Not watching much 3d but still enjoying avatar. Game mode works really well for FIFA 14 pc. How come it works faster than my laptop screen? So enjoyable to play fifa fhd on 40 inches tv:-)

Costco great. Lifetime warranty on televisions atm but was told by staff they're changing sometime soon (next year) to 10 years warranty. Catch is that you continue with membership annually or before 3 months after membership expires/lapses. Friend had his Sony replaced last year no questions asked. Was there early last week and thought the Panasonic TH-P60ST60 @ Costco everyday prices $1700 was nice too.

      Lifetime warranty on televisions

Lifetime of the TV or the purchaser ?

      • Both benefit. If you think about it. $60 annual member fee×10years for a brand new $2000 tv. Or cheaper if you lapse within 3 months expired (you work it out) Don't you think it's worth it? Cheaper than renting plus easily make up the money within 6 months from other savings alone. Better to get out there instead of going to the same shopping centres and support more Aussie jobs. Always good to have choices and variety

  • Purchased this TV a couple of weeks ago, loving it so far!

    :)

  • Many of the big names are selling these LED TVs cheap these days (to get rid of stocks) because the next big wave is the 4k TV at affordable prices.

The Hisense 55" 4k smart TV is selling for $2000USD in the States.
    http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/12/hisenses-4k/

So at this rate, 4k TV will becomes today's LED's price in a year or so. By then, you won't need a monitor anymore.

  • How does this compare with the LG 42" TV ($598 TGG or 596 HN)? That one also has wifi and compatible woth 3d.

  • Compare to this LG 42LA6230 42inch smart FHD 3d $596, which one would you choose? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/128261

Thanks in advance for ur opinions

    • The main difference is the refresh rate. If you watch sports more frequently, 100hz will make your life a bit easier. Otherwise, LG hands down.

      • I think you're mistaken. According to lg.com, the screen refresh rate for this model is 100Hz (http://www.lg.com/au/tvs/lg-42LA6230), or are you referring to something else?

        • My bad, in that case LG would be my pick.

        • May I know why's the reason that LG is a better pick? I just got the LG but every JB sales told me that Samsung is the better pick due to better pic quality and better panel. And both models are very similar in spec (both 3D, smart, 100 Hz, and FHD LED. Moreover, i read that LG is a bad choice for gaming ( I dun really care since I'm not a serious gamer). Thanks in advance.

        • Thanks all.

@andry77, hows your LG's tv sound? I heard the sound is pretty bad. I am about to go tomorrow to get it.

          Thanks man.

        • Sorry i should rephrase. I paid for it but will get the tv tommoz or Tues. i will use it for bedroom tv so shudn be that bad? I m still curious if i shall swap with this sammy or stick with LG. Sorry bout confusion.

        • @edsanwong
RU in Melb? Seems they had no stock on most stores when i was looking to buy

        • I checked all south eastern HN they all of stock. I placed an order anyway, using AMEX $30 off.
It is not in the TGG website either.
I bet you can ask Appliances Online to match it??

  • Went to JB today to squiz at it, looking to use the 32" Sharp in the bedroom for a monitor and replace it with something like this. It doesnt handle stripes very well, the picture had stripes on a jumper, and a floor IIRC, and they strobed noticeably. Im not sure how much that is the norm though and probably something many could live with. There was also some blur when panning. However it was smooth at scrolling the credits, much nicer than the 50hz TVs.

I might just wait for 4k to become reasonable in price and use the 47" from the lounge in the bedroom instead.

    • Which store u saw the TV ? i tried to find the samsung in some JB in melb but they didn have even the demo. Huge backorder i was told.

      • Maroochydore Qld, dude said they had 5. And that was at maybe 3pm, they shut around 4 so I cant imagine they sold them all.

  • With the TV specifications these days they should just dock a laptop to the back of the TVs and be done with the convergence ;-)

    • With the price drops on both laptops and TVs, that may happen :)

$615 at bing lee i wonder if costco will price match

  • Can someone confirm if this TV comes with 2 remotes? They should according to the oz samsung website and this review http://www.techdigest.tv/2013/05/review_samsung_21.html

I don't live near costco, so will probably buy from HN with a 5 year extended warranty. I asked them to do $625 and the warranty is $120. They don't have stock for 3 weeks though.

    • Yes it does.

      I got 5 years warranty for $90.

  • Was it $90 for a 5 year warranty from Harvey Norman? I may try and negotiate if that's the case.
