AEG 18v Lithium Ion Cordless Combo Kit $199 Clearance (in Store Only) @ Bunnings Port Melbourne

70

Hi all, I was just in Bunnings Port Melbourne and they had a couple of the AEG Combo kits with drill/impact driver/radio on clearance for $199. This is an excellent price for a drill that's supposedly pro quality - they're normally $299. AEG also come with a 6 year warranty on the product and 3 years on batteries.

Bunnings also had the Makita 10.8v cordless drill kit for $50 (normal price $99 - again only a couple in stock).

Mods - apologies, no pictures as I've broken my mobile - if this is a problem, please delete.

Edit: BrutusB indicates they're sold out. Thanks for the update.

  • Which bunnings was that with the makita and how many are left? Would like to pick up one tomorrow.
    Thanks

    • Port Melbourne?

    • Hi all, I was just in Bunnings Port Melbourne

    • Yes, was Port Melbourne. They had two sets left when I was there (about ten minutes before I posted). They look like a very solidly built unit and it comes with a nice case and holster.

FYI. I found this drill set to be very powerful and would do well for the home user or semi-pro work. However, a word of caution! This drill set suits those with bigger hands and are heavier than Makita or Bosch. Best to handle them before buying for those who are not as muscular or with smaller hands.

    • Who negged this helpful comment?

    • Having read a lot about drills in particular in the past few weeks, the AEG are often described as for professional or semi pro use rather than someone who just wants to knock some shelves up, and this is reflected in the usual price and the warranty. Also the various skins are a LOT more expensive and the range more limited than say the Ryobi One+ system if you want to start a whole eco-system of powertools and don't really need the better kit.

      • yeah this is completely overkill for the amateur home diy guy

you can tell by the generous 6yrs warranty, 3yrs on the battery

        at $199 i'd give it a go

sell the radio because i dont need a bombproof on, i havent even tuned the radio in my car

What i get when i click on the deal is a price of $299 not the $199 that is stated and without the printed picture with the price not sure you will et a match price from Bunnings.

    Thanks for the post though

    • Yes, apologies for not being a little clearer - the online catalogue price is $299, but they are $199 in the store.

Thanks Moondog apologies are not necessary your post was a good one and I will get down and have a look at them see what I can do

    • Thank you - when I was there they were to the right of the power tool service desk (not actually in the powertool area though - just outside). Good luck!

Didn't see this in Bunnings Smithfield (FNQ) earlier. Just as well really, Mrs Chickentaste would have a fit if I came home with yet another drill combo set.

    • I was VERY tempted and I bought one just a few days earlier! I've been in Bunnings Port every day for the past couple of weeks, they were definitely only put out today so it may still be worth a look tomorrow.

  • Very good deal. I have these and can confirm they're serious handyman to trade quality, however they do have the 2Ah batteries - may be why they're clearing them. You'd still get a reasonable amount of time out of a battery and they'd be quick to charge.

  • At $199 is too good a deal. i just bought one for $299 2 weeks ago. Great tools. Powerful drills for home users. Love the hammer drill.Dont use the radio that much but looks nice. NOTE, you need to register online for these products for extended warranty etc.

  • might head down there at lunch, anyone know if they still have any left?

Checked at 9.30am, all out and not getting any more. Guy said other stores were calling him to also check stock. I spoke to 3 other stores who refused to match the price.

      • Thanks for the update Brutus.

      • Thanks dude wont waste my lunch break or after hours to head down there then…

        • I've been in Bunnings Port nearly every day for the past two weeks, and I'm likely to be in there a bit over the next week or so - if I see them again, I'll post again and let you know.

        • Thanks, the AEG seems like a pretty sweet deal, been looking for a cheap good brand deal combo like this for a while.

  • Could you post your receipt?
