If you happened to miss out on it last time, Poweramp is on sale again! Buy it with a $30 Sim Starter Kit for $10 from Harvey Norman and it's only $0.39! (Because math). Even if you don't have a Telstra Starter Kit from Hardley Normal, it's still a great price for a great player!.

  • Thanks, I missed it last time.

  • 0.39 cents with Harvey WTF?

Harvey Norman are currently selling $30 Telstra Sim Starter Kits for $10. You can use these kits for Google Play credit if you activate them on the 'Long Life' pre-paid deal. $10 divided by $30 is 1/3, or 33.33% recurring. Therefore, since you only paid $10 for $30 of Telstra credit which will be used on Google Play, the same math of $10/$30 applies. So, since we didn't need to pay the other 2/3 (or 66%) due to the Harvey Norman deal, we are technically only paying 33% of ANY app we buy with the Telstra credit. So, 33% of $1.19 is $0.39.

      TLDR: $10/$30 = 1/3 = 33%. 33% of $1.19 = $0.39.

      • Do I have to be with telstra to do this? Can I somehow activate this credit to a phone that has a TPG sim in it?

Basically - I have no idea how to do this.. but I'd love $30 of play store credit for $10.

        • +1

You will need to take out your TPG sim and put in the Telstra one when you want to buy an app. Just buy a sim and activate it online and choose a Telstra pre-paid deal (I reccommend the long life pre-paid option so you have 60 days to use the credit). Then take out your TPG sim and put in the Telstra sim when you want to buy an app. On Google play, when you buy an app you'll have the option to bill to your Telstra account - choose this. It will then take the price of the app (in Poweramp's case, $1.19) from the $30 of credit that came with the sim. Once you've done your shopping on Google Play, you can take out the Telstra sim and put your TPG one back in.
If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to explain it another way :)

Already got Poweramp on my phone but I decided to login and +1 because of the great Maths from OP.

      • Do you have link to HVN Telstra sim starter?

An Ozbargainer's mind at work is a beautiful thing.

  • a great price for a great player- why?

Usually Poweramp is ~$4. It is considered the best music app available for android, and only having to pay $1.19 for it is awesome! I've been using it for months and haven't switched back to my other music apps :)

      • It causes my mobile to slow down and often restart. Not recommended.

        • That's odd. It works for all the phones my family use (HTC Wildfire S, LG-P970h, Samsung Galaxy Ace, HTC Desire S and Huawei Ascend Mate).

        • I use PowerAmp on a variety of low end devices, including one that ran only a 600mhz CPU with 256MB RAM. Never had a problem.

        • I used it for years and it never did that. Maybe you have a rubbish phone, or maybe your phone is crawling with other rubbish applications that slow it down.

          Or both.

        • It doesnt slow down my phone at all.

Either you have an old phone, or you have other apps running in the background that you arent aware of chewing up resources.

You also need to wait when you first install it so it can set up your library (if you got a big collection).

It's the best player for your phone mate… and there wont be very many people out there that will agree with your "Not recommended" comment.

  • does this play m4a on android?

    • +1

it plays every audio file i throw at it including itunes aac files
theres a trial version if you wanna test

Have been using this software 2 years.
I still have no idea how the queuing and next track works. The player seems to just choose whichever song (at random) out of my collection it feels like.

    • +2

sounds like your shuffle is set on library?

      • Maybe, I'll check.

        Edit:
Nope, Shuffle is switched off (I cycled through all shuffle options til it went back to off). Still switches between artists randomly.

        I'll go back to Winamp.

        • +1

Queuing is done by long press on album/artist/playlist/folder and then 'enqueue'. If that's how u do it and u still get random tracks then biik.

    • if you reach the end of your playlist and you dont have it set to loop then it will default to a playlist with all your songs on it

    • +1

I have the same issue. It's really weird. Have only used the enqueue thing a few times and it does it every time. Shuffle is off everywhere.

Anyway thanks for posting this. Had previously bought the full version unlocker from their website but buying direct from Google play makes it a bit easier when updating/switching ROMs. No having to go to PC and copy over the apk.

      edit:
Settings > Folders and Library > Queue > tick Ignore Shuffle

Works for me. Can't believe I'd never bothered to find that before! :)

I always use this player regardless of device or ROM

With Google Play Music free, i don't see the value even at this price. I personally bought it at full price a year ago before Google Play Music and its a great player but since then Google Play Music has been released, improved, is free, opens you up to a store, artist and album info etc, i no longer use Poweramp.

    • Google Play Music doesn't support folder structure view, which many people prefer. There's also far more customisation in poweramp.
I currently use mort music player, but may switch with this sale, as gapless playback would be good to have.

    • i no longer use Poweramp.

Likewise. Poweramp was good for FLAC but since newer phones don't have microSD slots (including mine), I have resorted to streaming music via Google Play All Access.

  • The only feature I used is the Sleep Timer. :hammer:

    Paid 99c last month.

  • why is it a great player? i install the rocketplayer which is free.

  • Do NOT use PowerAMP in any goddamn way.
    The support is god awful.

There's a bug in the code where very very occasionally you can destroy your music collection (it totally damages files, renames things JPGs become MP3's and all kind of crap)
I reported it and they basically ignored me.

There's one with an awful name called "PlayerPro" but it looks dandy and works well - get that instead
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tbig.playe…
Yes, it's 5$ at the moment - it's still better than ruining your music collection.

    • PlayerPro is awesome. Love how you can download lyrics on the fly

I tried it out but prefer the stock player on my HTC One.

    • +1

I got a HTC One as well mate…. and you need to get into the equaliser settings of PowerAmp to take full advantage of the HTC One's awesome speaker setup.

The stock player is already preconfigured to use Beats Audio and set up perfectly.

PowerAmp needs the "preamp" setting upped a little, and also the lower frequencies cranked up a bit.

Every other phone on the market doesnt have the same bass response the HTC One has, so the standard settings cater more to the majority.

But set up the audio correctly with PowerAmp (which cant be customised at all with the stock player btw), and PowerAmp kicks the crap out of it easily.

It also allows different profiles, so the audio setttings can be changed based on whether you have headphones connected, or just listening to unplugged speakers on phone itself.

Long story short, try it again… you didnt play with it long enough :).

    • I prefer the HTC stock player too. Tried numerous android music players and haven't found any as good.

  • already got it but +1 for this low price.

  • the reason poweramp is better than all other players is because it has the best equalizer

activate direct volume control by going to
menu button, settings, audio, advanced tweaks, direct volume control

and then use the equalizer and tone control

Just a warning to people with HTC One XL. Poweramp for some reason on my phone has an issue where I get pops and clicks when playing music but I do not have the issue when playing music with any other player.

I have seen other people report the same issue

    • +2

does that really require a neg vote?

    • +1

if youre getting pops and clicks, you havent set the levels correctly and are maxing out the speakers.

  • was 0.99 last night, so it's effectively $0.31 for me.

Well this music player, when connect to my Jambox Bluetooth speaker, the sound will lag from time to time which is
    not good.
    Using Nexus 5
