So the deal is MS office 365 premium at $64 after Gift Card Redemption? Please reflect that in the title.

    • Done :)

      • Please also reflect that it is not a purchase but a 1y licence in the title

"Convenient annual subscription with automatic upgrades included" yes, because I want to pay $100 a year for Office software. When did Microsoft move from just letting you use the software for a price to this annual subscription bull?

    • Notice the name it now includes 365 (days). Perpetual license is a great idea whereas annual sub is money grabbing idea from M$. No wonder they have started giving cashback and xbox gold live with these annual subs.

Guys you can always still buy the full version if you want. nobody is forcing you to buy 365. But if you use a little math you will see that this license gives you 5 installs across pc and mac. The equivalent retail version would be office home and business roughly for 225.00 for a single user. That means the equivalent license cost for 5 machines would be $1125.00. It would take you around 10 years for 365 to become more expensive but in the meantime you have always run the most up to date version. In 10 years if you bought the retail copy you will just have a out of date version of office and need to upgrade again anyway it would be the equivalent of rubbing office 2003 today which is EOL this year. In the end is just another way of spreading your cost out over a larger period of time.

I used Office 2003 up to 2010, and I am using 2010 now. I have a computer and a laptop, 2 licences max.

I will never go for a subscription, Microsoft or Adobe. Of course it is a personal choice.

If you only need one license then the pay back period is 3 years. There is also the much cheaper option of home copy if your employer has a corporate license.

Many companies were burned by software assurance when Vista was delayed for years.

If you really need Office, then try the Office Home Use Program for $15.

Except that I've been using Officer 2007 for years after it cost me about $100, thus far we're down to $20 a year.

        • Why do you need my work email address?

The terms of this program require that you have a valid email address with a participating company.

          AND

You need a program code from your employer to be eligible.

    • When they needed to make more money to meet shareholders expectations and when they couldn't get people to buy the newest version of Office based on added features.

Do you reckon a receipt from 26/12/13 would work? Or should I chuck a sneaky photoshop and change it to a 2014 date?

    • +1

Sure, change it to 26/12/14, see how you go ;)

      Sneakily commit fraud hey.

The alternative is to use LibreOffice or OpenOffice.

    • shipping is ~11, not cheaper than OP

      • Sure, I was assuming people in Qld would pick-up.

    • Funny how they charge $21 extra for the "free" router bundle ;-)
