Mitre 10 Hastings (VIC) Closing down 30% off Everything!

150

I was down today calling on customers, and a good one of mine has decided to pull the doors shut.

The store is fully stocked, and 30% off ticket prices!

Paints are flying out the door, makita tools(eg job site radio $112) combo kits, etc are very cheap,

Large range of Bbqs still left, most in boxes too.

Have a look, worth the drive.

Edit:
$90 petrol chainsaws
$320 makita petrolmower
$104 750mm industrial fan
$70 kartcher cheanee
$14 heat guns

masters/bunnigs moved in locally somewhere huh?

guess hastings is about to see even higher prices for hardware now the opposition has closed down.

      sad isnt it.

local fruit and veg shop…. gone.

      local butcher…. gone.

      independant petrol stations…. gone.

      local hardware store…. gone.

i cringe at whats to come, and how much we will be forced to pay for things.
short term savings to kill opposition, and then crank up prices when we have no where else to go.

kind of sounds like what my Missus did to me then how things changed when we got married !!

        • So did she shut the shop?

        • She moved to China or provides her services online? ;-)

      • local fruit and veg shop…. gone.

nope, ours is thriving… Most people don't want mould on their fruit and veg…

      • local toy shop……gone

    • Yep, we got a Bunnings a while back.

Which is why everyone who price matches low prices from independents at Officeworks is not as smart as they think.

Hastings Mitre 10's problem wasn't Bunnings opening up - it was the fact that the staff were always extremely rude and unhelpful. Unless you were over the age of 60, they didn't want anything to do with you!

    • Yeah, I noticed that too except in the timber section, they were extremely helpful.

Mitre 10 have no idea. They are a dying chain due to their high prices and loss of touch with consumers.

Home Hardware, Mitre 10, Hudson…they will all go eventually unless they adjust how they do things.

What your saying isn't exactly right..

Bunnings, masters are owned by large companies, which can sink money into all their stores easily..

90% of mitre 10 & Home hardware stores are owned by independent people, generally they are local, and help out the community. It's hard for them to compete against a multi million dollar company, stores try to compete, extend, renovate, etc but it costs a lot of money.

Pricing at mitre ten is up to the store how they do things… Screws, bolts, nails etc are same, if not better than the big box bunnings store. It's the $99 makita circular saws on the front page of bunnings catalogs that makes you think they are cheaper.

they are also happy to run certain stores at a loss until they have removed there opposition then jack there prices up to fund the next new store selling at a loss…..

        • THIS is page 1 of the operating manual for Coles and Woolworths.

Run at a loss at the start, effectively putting the other business under seige… and just wait them out.

1 year, 5 years… no worries. They have deep enough pockets to down any competitor.
Seen a Mobil service station recently?
They got bought out by 7-11, and not by choice.

        • I think BP took a larger share of Mobil service stations?

  • I am assuming that this the store:

    • The sale is on for a few more weeks, just depends what you want..

I ended up with a tape measure, bottle of coke & a tool chest trolley thing. I was happy.

Heaps of power tools still in stock…

  • I got the last 75cm fan… Sounds like an aeroplane in my bedroom, maybe have been overkill.

    • The good thing is that you can be overseas in the dreams every night.

  • Also Balnarring Hardware down the road is closing down too… Same deal 30% off too, not as much range though
