This has been the same price since December 2013, I watched the price drop from $369 Sept-Nov…

Biggest issue for me is spending $340 for a 2GB GTX680, when the R9 280X 3GB is $399 or even the R9 290 4GB @ $485 which you could gain most out of the amount of money you spend now, especially if you plan on getting more monitors…

    • Will a 680 really push anything past 2GB? Even on multiple monitors?

      • Ah Sry I generalized the "more monitors" bit, I was thinking about BF4, should have made it clear…

I know the GTX 680 has held its value and even a single one can play BF4 on ultra well, but as soon you add a second FHD screen frame rates drop like hell, even compared it to a single 280x that I played on with a dual screen setup, you'd certainly consider selling your 680 now or buying another one to SLI it, as a CF of the 280x was rubbish the worst experience ever…

So if you do own a 680 SLI it, but if you are looking to invest $340 get the 290 or higher…, if you rarely play on multiple screens or FHD res or higher, you should be spending less than $300 as even the 7950 or 7870 XT can play BF4(as a benchmark) well enough.

Also looking into mining, the 680 can pull about 200~ kH/s @ LTC & 127~ Mh/s BTC, compare that to a 280x with 720~ kH/s LTC & 700~ Mh/s BTC, if you are after a dual purpose GPU then you've only got one choice in this price bracket…

  • not a good deal considering its a year old

bf4 wants more than 2gb ram for some high-ultra gfx

i run bf4 on two 670's (still only 2gb vram) on ultra preset @ 1080p and i have zero issues

      • yes this article is mentioning one card not two which is heaps of power even though its 2gb

are you also running msaa 4x?

or is anyone with just a single card on 1080p ultra

yes im running msaa 4x (ultra preset).

with a single 670, i'd run on the ultra preset without any AA and still get around 70-80fps average.

Personally I think BF4 should just want to run stably given the state since its release.

  • Good deal considering the high prices due to the crypto currency mining boom.

    • That's just AMD cards though

      • Do you think AMD cards being overpriced and out of stock everywhere has somehow not increased demand and prices for non-AMD cards too?

Sorry guys i remember seeing benchmarks showing bf4 using more than 2gb at 1080p but this was alpha

      Retail version is

If you're playing at higher resolutions a 680 isn't even fast enough to make use of more RAM, even the 780 Ti barely runs smoothly on some maps. There's a couple other reviews that showed under 2GB at 1080p too.

Plus the only card I see around this price with more RAM is the 270X, I'd much rather a 680 over that.
