I've been holding out for a 48" TV.
    50" is too big.
    46" is too small.

    • +5

really? wow that must be frustrating.

      • +4

I guess you missed the stupidity of my comment.

          Lol you are funny.

If you are after a 48" TV it's worth comparing with the $499 Soniq at JB HiFi. Then choose the one that has the best PQ or features you are after.

    • +2

LOL i'd rather get a JVC over a Soniq any day and for $1 less. To me the JVC looks better and it also comes with a 1 year in home warranty.

      • +2

I can't comment on the quality of either of those TVs because I have not seen them before. theearth posted the deal for the Soniq yesterday but was for some reason deleted. But he did point out that any Soniq purchased in 2014 will receive a free 3 year warranty. That may be enough to make some sway towards the Soniq

        • +1

I see well then that 3 years warranty makes a difference.

I've had a 32" Soniq for 2 1/2 years which hasn't missed a beat. I've been contemplating a JVC panel but the reviews of them are terrible. Not the company they once were.

JVC went the way of Akai, Teac, AWA, etc a long time ago.
Just a rebranded no name unit.
The Soniq would be my choice of the two but depending on the pic quality.
Saw one of the Soniqs on special at a store in Kotara 2289 recently but the tv guy thought it was a good idea to run a 20 year old cartoon as a demo picture… :-(

        • +1

yeh the last JVC I saw was the same as a Teac. Probably out the same factory different badge.

i'd rather get a JVC over a Soniq

The day VCR's became outdated was the day JVC became a 'nothing' brand..

  • What is the screen refresh rate on this one?

      Here we go again.

At this price I'm assuming 50hz. I prefer the higher 100+hz and I like the motion flow effect but some people don't as it causes a soap opera effect. If using for gaming probably stick with 50hz as the input lag can double on those with motion flow enabled but then again you can disable it.

Ill post a link to what I posted last time a refresh question came up and someone mentioned 50Hz being terrible…

  • Nice size and seemingly great value but very negative feedback from Product Review (2/5) and CHOICE says "Not Recommended". Will make do with the 8 year old Hitachi until something really high value and quite well-recommended comes along.

    • I'd say a lot of those user reviews are spam.

    • My Hitachi plasma is 9 years old and runs day and night. I paid $5000 for it but it is still going strong so well worth the cost. Thankfully it has so far doubled it's estimated life.

      • Damn, guess what happened last night one day after this post. Yep, Hitachi has gone to God.

you tempted the ozbargain gods…. now you must seek out a bargain to appease them else suffer further punishment

  • Woahhh, JVC are still around???

    • +7

      JV too, he's still around

      • +2

        JV too, he's still around

I thought JV was "she"? I know that the original Jules Vern was a "he", but he is not 'still around'.

      • Is JV related to LV?

  • It is not the JVC you once knew… has not been for a long time. See above.

  • You'd be silly to buy now. Once the no name 4K TV's are released in Aus then the prices of these will sink like hammers.

Should be any time now, can't wait :D

    • +1

Can't wait? Then buy it now!

    • Ive seen them and they are amazing…. but what will be the source for 4k viewing?
Will it just be purely Blu-ray discs?

      • At the moment, most blue-rays only support 1080 (ie full HD). I think it will take at least 2-3years, to see the real 4k blue rays for movies…
