  • I hate the name. 'Geek' is so condescending and from another era.

But ill check out the content anyway, I use vimeo pro and mainly use a wordpress plugin to handle the player but would be interested in learning and maybe coding something myself.

    Thanks +1 from me

    • It's a 'learn HTML5' course; Vimeo is just the delivery platform.

      • Must have read it wrong bleary eyed. Hah!
Might be useful anyway as vimeo has updated their player to html 5 (maybe thats why I was jumping to conclusions)

        • i've never considered geek as a bad term i embraced it as i feel like i am a geek :) my brand is 02GEEK idea is take people from no skill in something and make them a geek of it(ideally :)
between us i really wanted it years ago to be 02Hero but that domain was taken and after a lot of thinking that felt right to embrace my inner geek :) the idea behind the name for this title was to try to make a course that is right for people that catch things fast. i have another course called "HTML with mom" that is me and my mom learning HTML and HTML5 together but its a lot more slower(naturally) and i got a big split among my students some that loves them and some that hated that it was slow so this is my attempt that sweet spot of giving just the basics of what you need to get started with HTML/CSS/JS before you start exploring on your own.

so I truly hope geek isn't offensive to anyone as its said out of love and i figured as being one of 'em its not a taboo word :)

I appreciate the long reply. Im not offended, just think the name is a bit 'done to death'. Plus you passed up on prime opportunity to persue "Neaderthal Coding in HTML; A stick and rock approach to the internet" and that i just cant forgive.

Everyone learns differently which is one of the great wonders of the internet; there are so many different paths to learning something.

        • ha yea i can't get offended by that i got over 50k virtual students your not the first not to love what i do :) it would be vain of me to think everyone has to love it but i do like listening to people as if i can do something better i would usually hear it from people that don't like what I'm doing and not from people that like what i'm doing :P

p.s how do you know i gave up on it as a marketing/teacher/tech guy that name isn't as catchy :) but if you can deliver 5k users to the course I'll be more then happy to call it anything you want to name it :P

Thanks OP, looking forward to watching some of these today; I'll review it too :)

    • Cheers i hope you enjoy them :)

  • How to download on iDevice?

Edit: nevermind… downloading them in Turbo Downloader :-P

Edit2: correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be any HTML5 specific content here?

    • Ugh yeah not all that much effort put into it. Revoked my +1, youtube has a ton of better resources.

      • Hey guys thanks for the feedback the main goal of the course like the promo says is to set people up into the development world - it would be impossible to cover more topics in an hour. but i do have other titles that delve deep into topics in HTML5 the thing is that each topic many times takes a lot of time but if this thing here goes well I'll release more freebies for other courses as i upload them to vimeo to get some traction. so like the promo says a bit of HTML (just about enough to get you running solo with it) a bit on CSS and a bit on JS that way someone that has no background with them would be up and running in an hour.

i appropriate the feedback after all when you create something you create it in a vacuum my course "HTML with mom" was a smash with about 20k subscribers and in it they asked me for this type of course as well one that is more fast and drives in to the basics without a lot of extra jabber. but hopefully next time i can impress you guys and girls if i get a chance to do so :)
