Care to elaborate? Harvey Norman sells this for $449…if you can find it cheaper than the $369 listed here then please do share.

        • +11

          Your point?

You said this isn't a bargain because it's a cheap and budget phone…if it's the cheapest price for this budget phone then I would consider it a bargain

        • You want cheaper? here it is
          http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/nokia-lumia-1320-4g-…
Comparing local and grey imports is just stupid, that is my point

        • RRP is $449, so not a bad price for a phone that was just released.

        • +1

Agreed regarding local and grey stock, its as valid as comparing an apple to an orange…

However why would you rather buy from eglobaldigitalcameras, they have a terrible track record. Would rather pay a little more and buy from Kogan instead. Not really all that cheap but Im actually kinda considering this ;)

Only 8gb internal memory though is a bummer for me, does this come in a 16gb variant atleast? And yes I know it has a memory card slot

Your point as stated in your first comment was that a cheap and budget phone is not a bargain, nothing to do with grey imports.

        • Their shipping is usually around $40

        • You want cheaper? here it is
          http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/nokia-lumia-1320-4g-…

          Add $78 for postage = $429

          The Kogan deal is $391.99

    Wouldn't Nexus 5 be a better choice?

    • +7

Indeed. But matter of choice Windows or Android..:)

      • +1

        or screen size..

        • +1

I have a Nexus 5, but if I wanted a Windows Phone its a nice price to dabble in….

    • battery life. 3400 mAH (this) vs 2300 mAH (nexus5)
This is a pretty big difference, assuming windows phone are more optimized for battery life, you might get double the battery life.

      • Apparently the Nokia is returning great battery results too. 1-2 days typical.

  • Noob question. Are the Windows 8 for mobile phones same as the Windows 8 RT for some tablets? I have heard that they are not full Windows 8 like some tablets, laptops or PCs but does it mean you cannot instal apps other than those available at the app store?

This Windows Phone has Windows PHONE 8 OS. It is different from RT.

Correct, it is definitely NOT full Windows 8, and you can only download apps from the Windows Marketplace.(same with Android-Google Play and iOS-App Store)

    • +3

The kernels are the same but the apps are not currently cross compatible. Win9 and WP9 are supposed to bring better API integration, so the developer can cross compile without major mods.

In real life: WP8 apps and W8/RT apps are not compatible. Even if you have bought an app in one store, you will need to pay again in the other.

  • Good price but the screen is excessively massive.
My limit is 4.5" and even that is pushing it.
6" in the pocket is going to be a very tight fit.

    • +6

You're just opening yourself up for joke responses there (not that you ever get joke comments on this site…)

6" is indeed going to be a tight fit in a pocket, but plenty of people love their Galaxy Note's, so there's definitely a market out there.

    • +2

      That's not what she said!

    • +1

      ….beaten to it!

      • Is that you mum?

    • Buy an 8x then :-)

  • +13

Since when did $369 become a "budget" phone? :( Looks like I'm out of touch with reality on how much I'd pay for a phone!

    • Cough iphone cough

    • Hey don't forget during the Nokia era a phone could easily go over $1500. So $365 became a budget phone since then.

    • much more than just a phone

  • +5

doesn't get the 42 megapixel camera…. I'll have to climb my way to the front at kids concerts.

  • bear in mind that Harvey Norman has it for $450 (440s), better for local stock and warranty

    • Allphones have it in their new catalogue for $429.

  • +1

I thought it's normal for grey import to be $50-$100 cheaper than local stock?

  • It was pointed out in a previous deal (for a Nokia 1520 I think) that Windows Phone OS did not deal with a high resolution screen very well, but was to be improved in the future. Would there be any such issues with this device?

    • +4

1320 is only 720P so probably not high resolution on a 6" in today's standard.

      • majority of users don't need everything to be 1080P, that amount of pixels is a waste of battery most of the times. Any device with pixel count above 200dpi is enough for the human eye.

the 254 dpi of this phone already rival the ipad air in pixel destiny !!!!

Asking for more is pointless judge by the price

it would fly off shelves if it is 299 include GST!!

        • actually the ipad air is 264 PPI.
on a 6" screen I'd still prefer 1080P, not that 720P is bad or anything.

        • I have an 820 and it is only a 217 dpi screen. For media content, it is more than enough.

What I wish for is that MS allows more freedom for developers with independent media players which I miss from my previous Android Phone. BSPlayer in WP8 would make my phone almost complete (as the media player in the phone does not allow subtitles and sometimes even can't play some files that I know is coded with xvid).

What is also missing and probably will never be available on WP8 phone is HDMI connectivity. That would make it perfect as a media player when you go on holiday (esp if you already kitted it up with a 64GB card).

          Cheers.

      • Have they implemented any pseudo high resolution rescaling to make it fit the larger screen better? Or is it simply the same content on a small screen made bigger?

  • I am thinking about to buy one excellent camera high end phone, it doesn't matter which o/s, can I buy this?

    • +4

If you want an excellent camera, you can't go past the Lumia 1020 which now shoots DNG RAW if this is of interest.

If you want a big screen and a great camera, you should consider the Lumia 1520, which is also the most powerful Lumia device.

If you want a big screen and acceptable camera, this will do, but is only 5MP and has an LED flash, not Xenon like the 1020.

      • Thanks for your nice suggestion cyssero…I would like to go for Lumia 1520.

  • +1

Most people already have 1 or more android device and I personally would love to try a Win8 phone.

RRP is $449, so pretty good price for this phablet.

My only complaint is the camera is only 5mp, I would at least prefer 8mp.

    Otherwise good deal.

    • all the money goes to the screen of this device. For the current price, it is cheaper than US RRP if it is without shipping.

The camera is a bit off I must agree but it does its job none the less.

  • -2

    But does it do 4G?

  • $349 now.
