I'd rather the points cap than pay $5000 per year for a Black card…

      • Which bank are you with lostn?

        • Westpac.

The Black is for new customers only, not existing ones.

        • Black is for new and existing if you request to switch to it.

yeah, still prefer my Citibank Signature

I was correct. Here the title of this post is misleading. It's for LIFE OF CARD, not "LIFE".
So once the card expires, you have to have spent $20,000 in the year to maintain the $0.

    Taken from Westpac website:
Outside of this promotional period, annual fee $90, waived in the first year, will apply as well as $0 annual fee in subsequent years- when you spend $20,000 or more on purchases in the previous year using your card

    • +3

It's for LIFE OF CARD, not "LIFE".

It's until you cancel your account

Once the card expires, they automatically send you another one…

      Taken from Westpac website:

Not sure why you posted that… That applies to people not taking this offer up during the promotional period.

      • hmmm… I'm not too sure if that's correct… but doesnt matter to me, I'm not interested in the card, I just want to warn people.

      • +2

        hmmm… I'm not too sure if that's correct…

        I am…

        • I am…

          And so it is written…

paying fees to banks is soo 2001 and then this:

"If you require a credit limit above $75,000, please contact Premium Financial Services or Private Bank. "

"Congratulations, your 55 Day Platinum Visa Card has been approved with a credit limit of $29400.00."

Is the rental car excess for Australia ($5500) with no excess and no eligibility required? Do I need to pay the full rental fee with the card?
    Thanks

  • "$0 annual fee for the life of the card"

So there will be fee once the card expires? five years?

    • +2

      Read ^^^^^ about 5 points.

    • +1

the card renews at the expiry date so therefore as long as you keep the account open then it is free

  • -3

It said $0 annual fee for the life of the card. What happened after pass the expiry date of the card. Do I need to pay annual fee ?

"What about the existing Platinum Card owners?", one may ask. I am one of them and I gave a call to Westpac customer service and said it's not fair that I have been a Westpac customer for many years with a perfect payment history, yet they were giving away better deals to new customers just to attract them. The rep said I could cancel my current card and get a new one to take advantage of the deal, yet I'd have to go through the application process again. I said that was a nuisance and he replied he would put me through the card specialist who could offer something better. This specialist I talked to had a word with his supervisor and came back with an offer of waiving the fees for one year and said I could call again next year to see if they can do anything else. Obviously this offer will expire by then so I won't have any grounds to ask for an extension of fee free period. I said this was not good enough, and I would cancel my card and reapply if that was the only solution. He said he will have a chat again and come back to me. Eventually I have been granted the fee free offer for the life of my existing credit card, I did not have to cancel it. I suggest everyone in my position do the same.

  • Does anyone have the citibank card? Is the reward system good? No annual fee on a Visa with rewards sounds pretty good

    • +2

i think the $0 fee citibank platinum offer now is not bad at all - considering it is free. For 9100 points (which is $7280 spend, since you get 1.25 points per $1), you will be able to redeem a $50 gift card from a variety of stores (coles etc). That is 0.68%. what I dont know is whether there is delivery fee, when you redeem a gift card. Does anyone know?

      • +1

        free delivery :)

called up asking for a switch and they said this offer of no annual fee is not for existing customers who do product transfers. i told them a co-worker got it on Feb 3 and after a few minutes on hold they agreed to do the transfer to a no annual fee for the life of the card. wont know if it successful until next week as its the weekend. can anyone confirm that you dont have to pay for the car rental using this card and still be covered and only have to pay $250 excess fee if you make a claim?
