    • Strange the product picture is of the 1st generation yet the model number in the specs points to the 2nd generation. I'd assume it's the 2nd generation remote. Good way for HN to confuse people.

  • The 2nd gen also has infrared which allows you to control a TV and amplifier.

It's definitely better off paying $5 more for the 2nd gen one since it controls most TV's and some AMPS, is slimmer, lighter and has better battery life. Only downside of the newer one is it's so easy to hit the PS button so I often find it turning on my PS3 when I don't want to!

Does the 2nd gen one have learning function?

      • Nope. There's just codes at the back of the manual that you punch in to get it to work for all the popular makes of TV. If your brand isn't listed it says it may still work if you keep pressing the CH+ until you find a setting that controls your TV, but I haven't managed to get it to work for my el-cheapo TCL i've got in the bedroom.

This is the manual for the 2nd gen remote: http://au.playstation.com/media/3ndS6pjj/CECH-ZRC_BD%20Remot…

  • Ah, the lucky people how have enough time to both play games as well as worry about the type of remote they use to watch movies.

    • 1st world problems indeed
