It's not that bad value if you want the fastest non NBN internet speed AND you're in the market for an 8" tablet. Personally, I think any screen smaller than 11" should be a phone. There shouldn't be anything between 6" and 11".

I am in the market for internets very soon as I'm moving house, and Telstra's cable speed is definitely attractive. This tab could just be a bonus if I got Foxtel included in the bundle.

    Could.

so you personally think that all those millions of ipads sold are just a failure?

      • -5

I would bet that >90% of them are used to take selfies and play flappy bird

        • LOL i was going to reply seriously, but i realized you are just trolling
P.S posting from my Ipad, no flappy bird installed and no selfies at all in my camera (t)roll

    • Have you been to a retail store in the last 2 years??

7" to 10" are the sweetspots for tablets.

  • +2

    I could neg this.

  • What's the value of the Tab 3?

    • +1

Cheapest price I've found is $289 at JB this week. So that essentially brings down the cost to $880.40 or 73.36/month for

      • 42 channels of Foxtel
      • IQHD
      • Telstra Voice Plus service (basically a phone line)
      • +1

The equivalent plan from Foxtel is $738 minimum cost however doesn't come with the Telstra phone line. A phone line costs an extra $432. Fairly good deal if you want all of these things however you could get Netflix/Hulu/other streaming, VOIP (or use your mobile), and be a lot better off.

Hello all, we can't guarantee everyone is eligible for the offer (new Foxtel from Telstra customers).

    Thanks

this could be a good deal…

  • So whats the cost?
Is there an amount you can put in the title or the description?
Edit: installation costs and other hidden cost unknown + plan $49 to $120+ Each month for 12 months for a tablet with unknown value.
Description of deal is terrible rep

If there's one thing I hate, it's when companies have disdain for their customers.

When will foxtel come up with a sports only package, all I want is Fox Footy. I'd be willing to pay $100-$200 a year for access through say my xbox but I don't want all the other channels.

    • Grab yourself an android tv stick for $50, then pay $90 per year to access the AFL sports app =)

      • What is the quality like?

        • It's okay, not great and not terrible.

Depends how big your TV is

        • 55" LED

        • The resolution is set. It looks fine on my 32", but on my 50" plasma it looks a little pixeled.

    • No chance- you have to take their basic package whether you watch any of it or not.

deal telstra your bundles and deals are a CLUSTERF*CK MESS.

  • +1

I pay $10 a month for Hulu LOL.

I really don't think any Foxtel "deal" will have a good reception on this site. Most of us know that Foxtel is the most overpriced crap available. The only reason people bother with it is because of the exclusive deals like sports. Bring the price down to be equivalent to offerings in other countries and you might actually get some interest from this crowd.

Just be aware - you may be better off contacting foxtel directly if you're after sports + HD and negotiate with them.

    For those thinking sports:

Managed to do this 2 weeks ago as a brand new customer: $25 install, $60/month with Sports + HD with IQ on a 6month contract. Thats $385 for 6months (which I'll activate on 1 March 2014 so to make sure I get round 23 of AFL included within the 6months so I can cancel on the last day if I want to). Now add in 6months more to make it comparable to below (12month contract) = $84 x 6 = $504.

Total 12month Sports + HD contract value = $385 + $504 = $889. Thats assuming I can't negoatiate the price of sports + HD down in 6months time if I wanted to extend for NFL/College Football (pretty confident I'll be able to knock something off the $84/month standard price for sport + HD as there is no way I'll pay that much).

    VS

$150 setup + $59 for 6months then $84 for next 6months = $1,008 before having to make sure you've got a valid Telstra Voice Plus Service or something (dont understand this).

Going the telstra route (provided you have the telstra plus voice $35.95 already covered somehow.. I dont understand this requirement for Foxtel from Telstra).. you get the tablet for $119 ($1,008 - $889). If you dont qualify that $35.95 requirement - then the deal stinks if you have to pay $35.95 for a home phone or something.

Is my logic right there or have I overlooked something?

Deal foxtel rep.. Can you please cancel my service. I now use Netflix

    Thanks

    • +4

shhh don't tell them or Rupert will get his mate Abbott to filter Netflix traffic

      • +1

Thats a lie… Abbott has no mates

  • +9

Been on your foxtel and bundle for years now and I get nothing.. how about a free one to those who have been on it for years..

    • +2

Customer loyalty? Why would a company want to take care of those that keep them going. The only hope you've got it to call up and tell them that you're going to leave because of it, they may either offer you one or a better deal which would be worth as much as buying the device in the first place.

      • well I was on chat with them and on facebook they will give me nothing.. Ill be switching once I move later this year.. shame I can only get telstra here ATM..

    • +1

I second that x1000000. I've had Foxtel since it became available.

We've just talked our mother into cancelling hers and ours is next if I can convince the wife.

Good tablet though, I have one.

      • +1

If you ring and cancel they will GENERALLY offer you a new package if you say youre tired of seeing the same stuff etc. We have been on foxtel for 10 years this year. We didnt even have IQ so rung to cancel, got offered free IQ upgrade and $90 a month for 3 months for the top end package plus the italian channel (for nonna).

        best chance you have really.

It would be nice if this wasn't just aimed at "new customers" either
