This is a very good lightweight carbon fiber tripod at only 1.6KG. Excellent reviews at BH & Amazon.
It is the tripod legs only and requires a tripod head to operate.
Cheapest in Oz is about $550+ shipping.

Specs

The black Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is part of the 055CX series which was designed to meet the needs of demanding professionals and photography enthusiasts who want the best in terms of performance and quality. It has been improved with the use of carbon fiber tubing for its legs. Thanks to innovative production techniques - which allow for high quality 100% carbon tube structures - the 055CX series guarantees a higher load capacity and an increased height with a lighter overall weight (-20%) thanks to a completely new design, which allowed to lighten the components.

The 055CXPRO3 is a 3-leg section tripod, with a center column design that allows it to be used in either vertical or horizontal position. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, the column can be swung over to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself.

The 055CXPRO3 also features several other improvements, such as an improved leg locking system, redesigned angle adjustment levers, and a leveling bubble that is incorporated into the head plate.

Transverse center column can be easily swung 90 degrees for low angle shots
Padded grips on the top sections of 2 legs make for a firm grip in cold or inclement weather
Four leg angle settings - 23,47, 66, 89° compensate for uneven terrain

  • Good price and good deal, but this thing folded at 65cm without head….too long.

    • 65cm is too long? Are you kidding me?

I could fit 2 overlapping in my MBAG120 easily.

I guess that gives you some idea on how big my current Manfrotto tripod is.

      • Different people have different requirements and to me 65cm is also too long especially for travelling.

        • I won't disagree with you about different requirements, that is for certain.

    • +1

There is the 055CXPRO4 also on sale for $317+ship. Its a 4 section tripod at 55cm long folded.

  • I am wondering if it is worthwhile spending US$313 on this one as it is only 0.6 kg lighter than my Manfrotto 293A4 ?
If I did not have one probably I would pull a triger but now I am not so sure.

  • It's a good tripod.

I just purchased a Induro CX114 for USD303 (delivered) from OC Camera (deal unfortunately over - found on ebay).

    Max Load 8KG
    1.3 KG - Carbon Fiber
    127/150cm max height
    Folded length 50cm
    Moist and dust resistant locks

(The Induro series is pretty good value even at normal (US) prices).

But the Manfrotto also looks good …

(When you order at BH check out this camera backpack … looks decent for the price: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/892824-REG/Kata_kt_pl_… )

  • The deal has been ended and instead we need to put extra 50USD. The discount is not 150USD anymore but 100AUS. I am too late to purchase it. Just waiting for any better deals. Anyone know any better deals? I need a tripod so so so desperately.

  • Is it still worth getting this? It will cost around 370 USD to get it shipped to Australia now.

    • If you need a carbon tripod right now, I would say yes.
