every time you buy a GoDaddy service you are supporting a CEO who thinks killing elephants as a sport is a great thing. Think twice, is that ~$3 saving worth it? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/31/bob-parsons-godaddy…

Meh he is a CEO, they wouldn't get to a CEO position without doing bad things.

      GoDaddy has like 1,000 employees..

And every time a GoDaddy deal pops up on OzBargain someone would drag up a 3 year old story about a guy that is no long a CEO there?

However there are other valid reasons why one shouldn't use GoDaddy — poor service, too much up-selling, bad track record of loosing customer's domain, etc

    • Bob Parsons is no longer the CEO of GoDaddy….he hasn't been since 2011 (although he is still on the board as the executive chairman)

      • which is no different to CEO lol

I registered a domain with them under one of their occasional $1 deals, knowing their reputation but thinking there was nothing to lose. My payment was singled out for extra verification, starting with sending them a copy of my photo ID - wasn't comfortable going down that route as I read about them subsequently demanding bank statements, etc. Fair enough for them to ask, but fair enough for me to refuse and cancel the order, which I did.

Trouble then was, they held onto the domain (with DNS servers that marked the domain as having been "suspended for spam and abuse"), so I couldn't choose to register it elsewhere, and it's still being held as of today, almost two years later. Fortunately it was a throwaway domain.

  • I don't support go daddy as well. had issues with domain registration/transfer. Also on hosting side, they provide very limited service. eg. IMAP requires you to pay extra.

  • Didnt work for renewal

Just signed up for a domain, put the code in and it gave me 49cents off the total. (it should have been around $3.50 saving?)what happened to the 35% off?

    My first negative on OZB

  • I still have a few with godaddy but less than I used to.

I have a problem with their so called discounts, I used one for supposed 35% a while back and caught them out when it didn't add up to the full 35% !

They did respond and admitted the figures were wrong, but they did nothing about it.
