Thanks 4NTiNWOW4RRiOR, I had posted it yesterday already for it to be removed by the moderator:

      21/02/2014 - 21:20 
      This deal is not published.
AirAsia - ♥ Biggest Sale Ever Is Coming. Stay Tuned! Starts 24 Feb (No deal listed)

      :)

      • Oh- my bad. Thanx twinkle, great deals. Hope u enjoy ur holiday :)

      • +8

Can someone explain me why these deals get removed. I know they are not active when they are posted. But wouldn't it be helpful to know about these deals beforehand. You could be a little bit more prepared to book a flight when you know these deals in advance. Maybe the rules should be a little bit adjusted for the benefit of the community.

        • I think because no prices were published before hand. If the post had prices then it would have been kept up.

        • +2

          ozbargain politics

        • +1

          Yeah silly politics.
I had my $510 xbox one deal removed for somesilly reason.
Got myself a console no probs but all the ppl in comments section on another posts r asking how where etc lol
I dont bother posting deals anymore and i laugh wen i see sum1 find em weeks later.

Theres a 12 issues of guardian for $12 deal going now brw lol

        • I agree, Woolies and Coles deals have been allowed to be posted days ahead

        • +4

prices are listed in Woolies & Coles deals.
No prices listed in Air Asia deal… just saying 'biggest sale' doesn't warrant a deal. (but does warrant a forum post).

  • +1

As somewhat expected, "Welcome to our waiting room!"

  • Best I am finding is Perth to KL for $280 return, Perth to Bali for $179 return. In the October 2013 sale I booked both of these cheaper ($260 to KL and $148 for Bali)

    • What dates are you using?

  • Unable to find any return flights from the Gold Coast on sale - plenty of outbound but no returns. Still, the outbound prices are very nice indeed.

  • Cheapest ever.

Melbourne to KL for two return is $670 all in all (no food).

    • What dates are these? I can't find them.

    • That's not the cheapest ever. I just got back from one I booked last year, 583 return for 2 Melbourne to KL, including checked baggage for one.

      • +1

This is not the best price. I've flown to KL under $200 one way including baggage. In this deal it cost $900 just for tickets from Melbourne-Colombo return in December. Normal prices in December can be much higher or even double. However when Malaysian Airlines and Singapore Air Lines had sales they even offered better prices that this being full service air lines. Air Asia might have had few very low priced seats and no more for December they are all gone.

    • Nope I'm in Malaysia right now and paid about $100 less than this :)
Careful all. Not necessarily the bargain it looks!

    • +20

It's as if they're a budget Asian airline or something!

Deals look good for what they are.

    • +1

Set your alarm to Time travel back to Jetstar's Boxing Day Sale for those Syd/Melb/Hobart to Tokyo $128 flights ;-)

  • +1

Sydney - Surabaya, Indonesia, 2 people return with 20kg bag around January 2015: $902. Not bad.

    • Perth > Surabaya in December return, cheapest I can see is $614pp.

Even Perth > Bali in December return is $544.
That's without luggage, meals or seat selection.

Nothing to see here, I could probably fly Garuda for this price. Shame really, since we wanted to go and visit family in Surabaya at Christmas time. Flights are always expensive at Christmas :(

  • i think last year $430-ish return syd-kl was the cheapest ever, for two people

    • When Air Asia launched from Sydney, they did a sneaky celebration sale - my husband and I got two return tickets to KL for $550 ($225 each, return, including taxes). Damn cheap.

  • +3

very happy! booked GC to HK for 2 adults and 3 kids $1650 inc luggage and food. Jan 2015 school holidays…it's peak so this is well worth it. Hotels in GC and SC are around $250 a night and $450 for 2br apts. HK was only 1200RM rtn for 5 of us…so cheap!

    • Tell me if you find good family accommodation in HK, I'd like to take the kids, but a room for 2 was pretty dear, so I shudder at what a large family will cost.

      • Check out Airbnb.com. I bet you could get a better deal than a hotel and have an entire apartment. It's Hong Kong so you won't be far from transport and taxis are cheap.

  • +2

Just checked return Bali flights from Melbourne. Couldn't think of anything worse flying to KL then back to Bali, its cheap but the (on average) 14 hour trip is a let down. If only they flew direct!!

    • This killed it for me too. I promised my girlfriend I would take her if flights ever came back to under $400 each return, but such a long bloody time to get there. I got the Jetstar 'Bring a friend for free' deal in 2011. That was direct flights for $400 return per person if you had 2 people, including 20kg baggage. Could have done it for around $370pp if we did the stop over in Perth I think it was. The extra $30 was definitely worth it.

      • Haha … don't plan to have kids … these 2 for 1 deals are bad for families with 1 child … ;-)

    • Unless you really really want to go Bali try somewhere else like Penang, Patong or Bin Tan.

  • +7

Just another sale with a fancy title 'biggest sale ever'.

  • Japan from gold coast is cheap in early 2015 ski season.

    However stupid stop overs….

Jetstar better value if you can get the right dates.

  • Nothing for Phuket :(

    • yes, there is.. your booking under the wrong dates, 1 Oct 2014 - 30 April 2015

  • Wow, those prices are crazy! I wish I got these prices when I booked for my April holiday..

  • Are we able to price match with Jetstar?

    • most likely.. if they can bring it up on their screen, in most cases, they will be oblivious and say they cant see the deal..

      • I've never had that happen, and I've price matched with Jetstar about 3 times during Air Asia's sales.

    • Jetstar will only match the exact route - so they won't price match SYD-KUL-DPS to SYD-DPS. Seemingly the only flights from Australia you can price match are DRW-DPS or PER-DPS.

  • $459 return from Gold Coast to Bangkok in Easter next year.

  • Is this airline any good to travel with? eg Food, in-flight entertainment, seat size & comfort.

I am looking to go Melbourne to Kathmandu

    • +4

I love them. But it is a low cost airline so you need to put it in perspective. There is no food, entertainment etc unless you pay for it. That being said the food is excellent at $5 a meal. Bring your own tablet/laptop with movies for entertainment. The seats are a little narrower than most airlines, but the pitch is the same. Exit rows are $40 extra each.

I've found the staff always friendly and excellent, the food great, cheap beers and planes generally on time.

I prefer to fly with them then full fare airlines these days. The $$$ I save goes into a much better hotel.

      • +4

if you are ordering the kids meals, then don't. They are disgusting. get your kids the adult meals. and take plenty of snacks with you.

        • +1

Mind you even the snacks are reasonably priced. From memory don't buy the sandwiches from Australia as the price is about $13 because they're bought here but they're like $5 from KL.

I prefer to take a couple $50 notes with me. Unless this has changed since I last flew with them from AU couple of years ago you'd buy a coffee/beer and give them a $50 note and they'd give you MYR back at roughly the current rates. It was a good way to change your currency over.

        • pancakes is only item worth ordering for kids.

        • +2

The chicken rice is good, and my kids all like it. It says it has chilli in the sauce, but I couldn't taste any. I like the nasi lemak, which has a little spice. The hotdog was dreadful, but my 8yro couldn't be persuaded against it. He ended up sharing his sister's rice.
If you order ahead on the website it is cheaper and there is a wider selection, and you get a small water free.

        • This was in the same Oct 2013 RE: getting change.

  • +4

remember airasiaplus.com is useful for pin pointing cheap flights as it will do a search for 14 days from a selected date.

That being said, prices for when I'm flying (Xmas) have increased since last week by almost double. Thankfully I bought then but need to fly from HCM to KUL at some point.

    • doesn't seem to be working for me.. :(

      • +1

It wont do fly thrus, so you need to do each jump - ie Sydney to KL, KL to Phuket etc.

  • +1

Booked 2 adults and 2 kids return OOL to KUL during the booking period for $1182, including the $104 worth of "pick a seat" fees. Thanks OP!

  • +5

Just booked Syd - Burma in Nov for $375 return! Happy Birthday to me. :)

    • dates please…; soz… nov, thanks.

      • seems like is 205 leaving sydney, and 140usd returning
        plenty of dates available

not $0 fares though… per the breakdown anyway

  • it doesnt say pay taxes only on the website?

  • Nothing out of Sydney around Xmas :(

    • Xmas is a block out period for obvious reasons. I bought flights to Vietnam for Xmas/New Years for $700 return a week or so ago. Now it's about $1000 for those same flights.

  • Looks like pretty high taxes!

    • Most of it are airport charges I believe.

      • I've carried out a lot of air travel since the 80's and never seen taxes and/or airport charges costing $400-$600 each way before.

        • It's dependent on the airport and other guff. On the flights I've taken in and out of Sydney what's charged in taxes and charges is fairly static.

I'm flying out to HCM from Sydney on 21 Dec 2014. The quote I just got was $173 in charges. When I booked 2 weeks ago was $173 in charges too.

That broke down to $102 of fees and taxes and $73 in fuel surcharge.

If you're being charged $400 that can't be one person? They don't give you a pp breakdown so you'll need to divide the fees and charges into how many people you have.

        • I searched on airasia for flights to different destinations & times for a one person flight.

The average was $300-$400 cost with some exceeding $600 (each way).

Considering this "special" is supposed to be "Pay taxes only" I find it hard to believe.

        • Please give an exact example.

        • Search 3 Jan 2015 - 10 Jan 2015 Sydney - HK

          $631 & $518

        • I get taxes there of $101 an $75 fuel charge and a fare of $455.

Return is taxes of $49. Fuel Surcharge of $75. Fare of $394.

I don't know where you're getting the idea that it's a 'pay taxes only' sale? There has been nothing to say that.
Mind you there are taxes only flights like KL to Singapore.

The ad does say 'fares include airport taxes and surcharges'

        • Look up at the title………..AirAsia - ♥ Biggest Sale Ever Is Here. All Routes Are on Sale - Pay Only Taxes!

        • Well then the title is wrong - that's the OP's doing not AA. It's pay only taxes on SOME flights but not all. The sale email just says 'our biggest sale ever' and 'book early and save big - all routes on sale'.

        • That is my point. The deal should be specific, not general so title needs altering.

        • lol. You did read the part on Air Asia's website about blackout periods right? You want to fly pretty much at the peak of high season for taxes only….

  • +4

Thanks. Got myself a nice 9 day Friday-Sunday on comfortable afternoon flights to Bali for $150 return.

    • $150 return from where & what date? Best I saw was approx $250/return for KL, so another flight to Bali on top of that :/

It was all the hops that are cheap, $10 pretty much anywhere in Malaysia, $20 to Thailand etc.

      • +1

        Perth. It was early-mid February.

        • Same for mid to late Feb 2015, PER-DEN
$153 each return , 4 people, including seats & luggage

  • +1

If you download the air Asia promotion alarm ($2 from memory) you can search seats for entire month to select the cheapest seats.

    Google play http://www.nvu.com.au/products_single.php?action=showproduct…

    iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/hk/app/airasia-promotion-alarm/id63…

    • Sounds similar to the plus website I mentioned above except it's free (and only 14 days).

  • is this deal better or the expedia one?

  • Bit of a lie that taxes mel-kl are $169 lol

  • paid just under $367 for return flights Mel-BKK (via KL) in March.
booked two one way flights, which seems to always be cheaper.. flight to bkk $205.02AUD, flight from bkk 4780THB

  • As someone who has just returned from a long overseas trip and is wanting another one, thank you!

  • +2

    Syd-Japan (nagoya) one way 269.
Then Japan (osaka) - Nepal 270.
Looking at Nepal - Syd for 275.
All up around $820. Very Happy =)

    • Well done. Novel route.

You've inspired me to do the same but I'm looking for an impulse buy (which normally means $500 or less).

  • just booked a thailand trip for three people in december for $1950.. thats with picking seats and luggage. thanks! we were going to book airasia anyway but this nice little promotion saved us $200 each!

  • Got KL to MELB for $106. Great deal!

    • dates please? :)

      • 12th Oct, 2014. That was not including checked baggage or food. Ended up paying around $150 after adding baggage, a meal and entertainment.

  • +1

    Thanks for the find!

Booked SYD to KIX (Osaka) return for Dec to Feb 2015 for only $550 with 20kg luggage.

Insane! I remembered paying more than $1000 on Jetstar 4 years ago for the same route and period.

Never flew with AirAsia before, but judging by reviews I have read so far, they seem no different to Jetstar, and may be better (that said, I have no complaints with Jetstar - they have been fine)

    • Only thing with Air Asia is that when they go to KUL, you will be going to the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) which looks like the slums, apart from that, its GREAT!!

      • Current plans are for Air Asia to move to KLIA2 around May.

        • Pushed back to June/July now:p

I don't mind LCCT though… it's generally pretty fast processing inbound and outbound.

I will miss the shed :(

        • As long as it's ready by Xmas I'll be fine. Have a 5 hour lay over at 3am there when I go lol.

Hopefully my optiontown will come through for me and I'll be well rested.

        • At least it isn't dry. Ive had a few beers at that bar in the shed; while waiting.

Boarding is halarious though…. ppl just walking to their different planes on the tarmac; seems to work though.

      • The LCCT isn't too bad. There is a shop after security that sells muruku for MYR$2.90/100g. Had a 5 hour stopover there 2 weeks ago, was reasonably tolerable.

  • +1

Booked syd-pnh ret in March/April 2015 for $366.04 (with some food, no luggage).

  • Just booked Syd - KLL then KLL - Hanoi this December, arrive KLL at 3:05AM then out of KLL at 6:05AM, 3 hours of transit with 2 kids. Can any experienced Airasia travellers let me know if it's a sufficient time. If not, is there anything i can do or i have to reschedule the flight?

    • If you book syd-Hanoi fly-thru that's normal.

If you booked separately, you may have a problem if you are delayed.

3hrs is plenty. (Ought to be in the new terminal too!).

Edit: oh, there is no fly-thru to Hanoi from sydney.

Well, if you're not delayed you should be right.

      KL customs is quick.
I suppose the reason why it isn't fly-thru is because that Hanoi flight won't wait for the sydney flight.

    • Unfortunately they don't have Syd - Hanoi fly-thru, only Syd - HCM City.

    • Here's hoping processing time of the new terminal is faster. I paid $270 for 2 legs per person one way included 25 kg baggage if anyone interested, date is 09/12/14. Also booked a returned flight, cost $260 total per person on 26/01/15 , just before the start of school year.
