I recently had a sports massage with these people(awesome massage - highly recommended) and they are running a second massage free promotion. I happen to be with medibank private and the gap was only $18.80 for me, that's $9.40 per massage. Absolute bargain and a great massage to boot

$12 for a massage if you have Medibank Private Top Extras 85. Check with your Health Fund regarding rebates.

We offer on the spot claims so you only pay the gap fee.

Only Carlo available, no Swedish lass named Annika?

    The heading is deceptive.
The price mentioned of $12 is the gap price you pay and only applicable if you claim through your health fund and you happen to have cover that approves massage as a claimable item. In this instance, Medibank Private Top Extras 85. So the price is very conditional.

  • Not a deal … just advertising. You can always claim back from your health fund when you have the appropriate cover. With HICAPS (they swipe your health fund card) you get the rebate instant or they issue you a receipt and you can claim with your health fund (mail, online or in person).

I am not a big fan of medical treatments advertised … compete on price is maybe not the best selection criteria for your health (not saying that you shouldn't compare … you will get the same rebate at other massage clinics). Not a selling point … not a deal!

    • You seem to have ignored the 'the second massage for no cost' part of the deal.

I agree that you get 12$ off … (think about the deal without health fund (as this is what you need to compare to be fair …) You get 2 massages which cost $180 for $168 … (so not even 7% off) The rest of the discounts is all related to your health funds which you could get at any registered massage clinic).

I would say misleading advertising as it has the condition of your health fund in there … nothing special.

        • it's not $12.00 off, it's the gap amount you pay if you have the medibank cover listed which equates to $6.00 per 1 hour massage, I've paid a lot more for massages in the past.

  • Total ripoff!!! My remedial massage therapist charges $35 for a half hour remedial massage & she is a lot more qualified than this lot sound, & with my health fund I only end up paying a gap of $3!!
Even if you want to exclude the health fund rebates, with my massage therapist, you can buy a discount card entitling you to 10 half hour massages for $250. That's 5 hours of massage for $250, compared to 2 hours at this place for $168-180!!!
    Yeah….I think I'll stick with a proper place thanks….

I think their normal price without a health fund is $90.00 per hour, so it works out at $45.00 per massage without a rebate. I still think that is more than reasonable for a 1 hour sports massage.

      • Actually, the deal is only available with a rebate, so if you don't get the rebate then you can't get two for $90.

No it's not. Ozbargain changed the title. Check the website for exact details

        • +1

OzBargain didn't change anything. I changed it because the T&Cs listed at the URL provided with the deal include:
          * Offer is only for remedial or sports massage when claiming through a Health Fund

If you have a different source for a more general BOGOF then please share.

There is not health fund rebate required, I rang them to find out, they said that health funds only pay for remedial or sports massage. If you want a swedish or relaxation type massage you have to pay the full price.

        • This seems like a misunderstanding to me.
Why would they not let me pay full price for a remedial massage? They wouldn't. So why add the T&C?
Will they give me a second Swedish massage for free? I don't think so.

There seems to be a lot of speculation here and reading too much into the wording. A quick phone call like I did would answer any and all questions

  • The title would be more accurate if it were "Buy 1 massage with health fund rebate, pay no gap on the second massage after health fund rebate" - but heck, 'free' almost covers that.

Man, it's a tough crowd. I am only passing on what I think is a good deal(was for me anyway)and a really good massage from someone who knows what they are doing.

I have had many average massages in the past and this happened to be really good, but don't take my word for it, try it out for yourself. If you are in a good health fund it doesn't cost very much to find out.
