Kobo eBooks - 90% off Coupon - Multi-Use

2200
fdkY9rd

Here's a multi-use code giving you 90% off eBooks. Great for those who have recently picked up a new Kobo eReader, although you can also read them on iPad, Android, PC etc. Usually codes are around 50-75% and I've never seen anything more than a 90%, so this is definitely a good deal!

As always there are some books which don't work, but many do. You can also use the filters to only show books which accept a promo code.

Not sure how long this will last so best to get your purchases in while you can. Enjoy!

Just bought the entire Harry Potter collection for $6.56! Thanks OP!

    • +1

I just bought the Harry potter collection as well however tired to open it in the kobo app and it was blank…anyone have the same problem or know how I can i fix this? All my other purchases are fine though.

      • I do not even have the option to download the HP collection on the website and it isn't showing on my iPad :/

        • I have the same problem with two other ebooks that I purchased.

      • ARGH should have tried the preview!
I have the same problem. it's blank and when I flip pages it just exits….
how do you refund? is it possible?

      • I think the Harry Potter books are done through Pottermore. Not exactly sure how it works but we may have to complete some details on Pottermore and then we'll get access to the books on Kobo. I guess they'll send us an email or something with instructions.

        • +3

I had the same problem. I just called customer service and they tried removing the book, resyncing, adding the book, resyncing, and download again. Same problem.

Their notes say that a couple of calls have come in about this title having problems.

They are now crediting my account (24-48hrs) and have suggested trying to buy it again using the credit "which should solve it". Uh huh. Not quite holding my breath for this.

        • +1

please let us know how it goes!

For anyone else who had this issue (assuming they don't automatically 'fix' our purchase eventually) and not wishing call customer service -
You can probably report this online and get a refund via - http://kobo.frontlinesvc.com/app/ask Choose 'other kobo service - web' and 'content'

  • Getting 'Unable to apply promo code' error after successfully buying 2 books (separate transactions) with the coupon. Anyone else getting this message? Expired?

    • +1

Did you check those books are eligible for the promo codes?

    • +1

Some books aren't eligible to use coupons on in the Australian store, see comments above that indicate people have had success with switching their location to New Zealand.

    • nope >10 books and still going at the moment

Absolutely amazing post! This might just be the best deal I've ever taken advantage of here. Thanks so much, OP! I've been in a frenzy!

For anyone wanting an instant collection of public domain classic literature that is WELL-FORMATTED (though not entirely typo-free) for ereaders , try searching for "delphi" or "delphi complete" and stock up on great writers for about 20 or 30 cents each. Not quite free, but nearly, and worth it for the convenience and formatting alone.

Of the more 'expensive' literary collections, my pesonal favourite is the Complete Poems and Plays of T. S. Eliot for around $1.70.

Other ideas for good literature - try Booker Prize winners and shortlists, for example, or the Miles Franklin Awards for Aussie lit. That's to name just a couple.

On a lighter note, Harry Potter fans can pick up the entire collection for around $6!

    Cheers to you, TheAviator1992!

  • Brilliant work.

    • Correction - I should neg this, since you are sending me broke $2.14 at a time :)

  • Grabbed a book. Thanks

I think we should savour this moment guys, because after we're done with them, I don't think Kobo will ever release another 90% off code again lol

    • Its not the first time they've issued multi use 90% codes unlikely to be the last in the past they even issued a 95% one that was sweet as, once they even accidentally released a batch of new release titles as free. Not the sharpest tools in the shed over at Kobo ;)

For best bang for buck look for collections, bundles, trilogies, novels etc.

Btw the eligible for promo filter is not entirely accurate it often knocks out books that actually are eligible a more reliable method is looking for books that don't end in .99c

  • +2

Tip for other Ozbargainers: go to Amazon website and check out the reviews on a particular title prior to your purchase. Then see if these books are available to purchase on Kobo using the discount code. Also much easier to do a quick view or sneak peek of the book contents using Amazon.

  • thank you, just crossed off one item on my wish list :) you're amazing

My bank temporarily suspended my credit card, and got in contact with me because of this deal.

      • It was through Paypal- 27 books.

  • Does anyone else get an error?

"Oops something went wrong, please review your payment method and try again"

    • I know this reply is late, but I've been having the same problem. Called the credit card company and it didn't seem to be a problem with them. Happened after I purchased approx 30 books. I have been using PayPal since and I haven't had the problem again.

    Hi all,

I'm sure I'll be negged for this, and am ok with that. (Neg vote away!)

I really want to thank the OP for this promo code. My mom is a librarian and I've been brought up my entire life with the importance of books and reading. Since I got my first e-reader I have insisted on buying, not pirating books.

Recently, my financial position hasn't been the best, and I'm ashamed to say that I have been downloading books and sending them to my kindle. I haven't felt great about that, but I read quite a bit. This promo code gave me the opportunity to fix that. I have just a couple hours going through my gmail and seeing all the mobi files I sent to my kindle, and have purchased all of the books. I spent under $100 for about a year's worth of reading! I know others will disagree, but I feel good about this :)

Thanks so much OP, my slate has been wiped clean and I can go back to paying authors for their intellectual property.

OK, here's the EASY WAY I worked out to buy multiple books. BUY YOURSELF A GIFT CARD! Send it to yourself at your own email address. You'll be able to access the credit almost immediately, which is automatically applied to any purchases. Buy another if you use it all up. Whatever meagre credit you may have remaining will be deducted from the purchase price of your next card.

This method will save you time and will avoid the messiness (and/or suspiciousness) of tons of micro-purchases on your credit card or with PayPal.

    • +8

For the sake of the thirty plus pending transactions on my account and an hour's worth of clicking, I'm going to pretend I didn't read this.

      • "Due to publisher restrictions Promo codes are not allowed for this product. "

you just got my hopes up without trying it for yourself have you D:

        • You could still buy the gift card, and then apply the coupon to books purchased with the credit though, couldn't you? I've finished my buying spree, so I'm not game to test it out.

        • oh right then it would work for the credit card part.

    • +1

Works perfectly & much faster than going through PayPal each time. Thanks!

      • Glad you found it useful. I only worked out this method after 40 credit card micro-putchases and a few Paypal ones!

    • +1

I followed your suggestion of buying a gift card but its ended up a mess. The stupid website asked me when I wanted the gift card delivered, I said 3 March (today), no email after waiting for 3 hours. Its probably going to deliver it 3 March US time, which is tomorrow. Chatted with customer service to cancel, who said they'd need to escalate the cancellation which will take God knows how long. What a joke of a website, and wonder if they got their developers out of a cereal box. Makes me feel better about all you guys n gals raping and pillaging their book store. Burn baby, burn!

      • Sorry to hear you had so much trouble. What a bummer! :( I used this method multiple times and each time the gift card link appeared within second in my email account and I was able to redeem them straight away.

  • Many thanks - Amazing find

Purchased a lifetime of SF and Fantasy reading for less than $100

Checkout using India - you'll save a few more dollars guys!

Just bought books that were $8 on Aus site for $5.80 on India!

  • Can't believe this is still going. Thanks again, OP - truly epic deal that's going to keep on giving for decades.

    The full DSM-5 for $9.76.

  • Is the Kobo site based in the US? I'm waiting on a pre-release that's due out today and it's still marked as preorder.

That being said, this is one very awesome deal.

Their headquarters is in Toronto, the book should be available at 4PM AEDT

      • Thanks. Fingers crossed that the code lasts!

  • Looks like its finally expired - "This promotion code is already redeemed." getting this just now.

    • Same here.

    • False alarm, turned out to be browser issue

  • Super excited with this deal but it doesn't seem to work for me :( It just says, "This promotion code is already redeemed." every time I click on Apply. My problem could be that I'm using a Malaysian credit card, and maybe that's why it's not linked to the Australian store? Could it be there?

    • I think the maximum use is exceeded

    • +1

Is your billing country set to Australia in your Kobo account? I think Malaysia still has the old checkout and the code only works with new one.

Otherwise could be a browser issue.

      • Thanks, it was a browser issue for me - worked in Chrome, not in IE.

  • Still working for me.

  • not expired, just bought another 2 books :-)

Managed to buy 40 on my account and then got "Oops something went wrong, please review your payment method and try again".

So started another Kobo account under partners name and happily buying up big.

Remember to go for all the expensive books you always wanted. I bought books valued at $1oo for ten bucks, really happy.

    • When you get that 'Oops something went wrong' error, pay via Paypal and that keeps you going for a few more lol

  • "This promotion code is already redeemed."
and I never used it before. What does it mean ?

    • You should only get that error if you're on the old checkout, the new one gives a generic "Unable to apply promo code" if a code can't be used.

If your billing country is already set to country that uses the new checkout (Australia/New Zealand/US/Canada/India), try using a different browser.

      • Thanks. Tried Chrome. Worked fine.

  • It is still working, although only in my browser (explorer); through the kobo app I get the "This promotion code is already redeemed." error

  • Why is Matthew Reilly's Books never on sale.

  • Anyone been able to get Boys in the Boat?

  • Awesome, just bought some textbooks and this saved me a packet. Thanks

  • +1

Finally stopped working after 80 purchases (some for multi book collections). Started again with another email login - working again. I think I have purchased more than I could possibly read!!

    • Mine's still working, but I'm using gift cards. 95 books (compilations expanded) for $87.62 so far. I feel like I need another 5 for a nice round number.

Seems to work out about 50% cheaper (24% if the list/current prices are the same, but a few I checked were higher on Kobo) than Google Play; without this promo, they'd be getting my money instead - eventually! (via Mobile Billing w/$10 for $30 sims)

  • Purchased 40 now. Using India checkout to get books I couldn't previously get using the gift card option. I wish I wasn't at work, want ALL the books.

  • This code is amazing, thanks OP!
Would love any book recommendations that the code works for.
    What I bought so far:
    Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides
World War Z - Max Brooks
    The Luminaries - Eleanor Catton
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy - Helen Fielding
The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern
Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
Kafka On The Shore - Haruki Murakami
    Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami
    1Q84: Books 1 and 2 - Haruki Murakami
    1Q84: Book 3 - Haruki Murakami

The Inheritance of Loss - Kiran Desai
    Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson
Still Life with Woodpecker - Tom Robbins
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues - Tom Robbins

  • Command Authority for $2.45!
    THANK YOU OP.

  • How do you download purchased books so you can have a physical copy on your hard drive?

I've tried clicking on the "ADOBE DRM EPUB" link against my books in "My Library" on the Kobo website, but it just opens up a new blank webpage. As yes, I do have Adobe Digital Editions installed…

    Help!

    • Easy: download the Kobo reader software, use that to download them locally

Harder: download ADE, make sure you are connected to your adobe account, grab the link from the 'my library page' on the kobobooks site, drop it into ADE and they will get dumped into /my documents/my digital editions

Pro tier: install the Apprentice Alf plugin to your calibre install, make sure you have your keyfiles setup, follow the 'harder' process, then grab the books from the above dir and drop them into calibre for DRM-free action.

Guys, make sure you change to Kobo India, and pickup the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy for just $3.50 ;)

  • Thanks a lot!! Now I got a whole lot of Haruki Murakami Works :)

  • so how do you change your account to Kobo India?

    • Change your country to India in the payment section. So it's the first screen before seeing the final check out screen.

      • I cant seem to get it to work, I can see that you can change your address but I cant proceed to the next screen without payment details….
        please help :(

        • Indian checkout only offer credit card not PayPal so you'll have to put in your payment details to proceed.

        • oh I got it to work, I had a $10 gift card to try this but the book was worth $60aud so I couldn't proceed with the gift card only. tried with another book under $10 and worked flawlessly!
