  • I saw your threads on WHT, exceptional value for an Australian based host !

  • Just so you know, theres a really small typo on your web page @

    http://www.exigent.com.au/servers/vds-essential-pricing.php

Down the bottom right it says "FREE Backup Space
Backing up your data is importYou can backup your data to our local backup servers"

I'm kinda interested in hosting… I already have hosting, but it costs $10 a month with SQL and MS ASP NET.. do you have any windows hosting plans?

    • Hi lewcianci

Thanks for letting us know this. We can see when the page was last edited that some of the next might of accidentally been selected and deleted. This has been fixed now and thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

  • Would something like this be good to run a MineCraft server on, or is it more for web hosting?

    • Hi Power8

Unfortunately the virtual server wouldn't be able to be used for MineCraft as we no longer allow gaming servers/services to run on our infrastructure. This is because of the unwanted DDoS attacks that these servers/services bring to our network.

      • Ah, ok. Thanks for letting me know!

      • Thanks for that response, I was interested in that too. I was reading through the T&C / acceptable usage and could not find anything about it. How new is this policy?

That, and maybe I was not looking hard enough. Either way, looks good!

        • Hi staticN0de

You can find the no gaming clause under section 18.B.A.8 of the terms and conditions.

        • Ahh thanks. As the wife would say - I had a mans look.

  • That's one seriously cheap Australia VPS hosting. Since you guys are using OpenVZ, what's the vSwap on those plans?

    • Hi scotty

We can assign the vswap on a needed bases. So simply purchasing some additional memory from our billing portal and we can allocate that to the vswap space for the virtual server instead of the guaranteed memory allocation for you.

      • So basically,

        1. No vswap
        2. Buy more guaranteed pages, get vswap instead

        Doesn't sound right to me…

  • What's the price for extra memory?

    • Hi kogi

That would depend on how much extra memory you might be looking for. Feel free to contact our sales team and they can definitely send through some pricing for you on how much extra memory you're after.

I'd personally avoid this mob, my experience with them was not pleasant.

As I gave them a honest review on a very large forum (after spending days waiting for them to work out the problems, and in the end held my data at ransom for extra account fees) they were at fault but lied and made up stories to try and cover their arses. Sending me abusive messages 6 months after I quit using their services.

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/?action=search&q=exige…

Much better providers out there, do not buy into exigents rubbish. If you use any where near the resources you paid for they will make up some reason they delete your account whether it is in their T&C or not.

The head guy behind it is banned on Whirlpool for abusing customers, says a lot !

    • Hi storyteller.

Could you let us know some ticket numbers so that we could look into this a bit more please?

We definitely do not terminate services for using your resources and we certainly invite our customers to actually use their resources as much as possible. If it is because of excessive CPU resources on OpenVZ we do have an obligation to shut down the service so that the other OpenVZ virtual servers also get a fair share of the CPU resources. If it's a on-going continued issue because of an application that you might run, we work with the customer to actually upgrade to a XEN or KVM virtual server so that the virtual server has the proper dedicated resources and wouldn't affect the other virtual servers on that node.

The "The head guy behind it is banned on Whirlpool for abusing customers, says a lot !" comment certainly has no truth behind it as well but it's interesting to hear that rumour.

But please let me know the ticket numbers in our system and I be happy to look into this so we know exactly what is being discussed here.

Not that stopped you from making new accounts John, just a pity whirlpool weren't more proactive and banned your ghost accounts too.

        John/Ben/whateverothernamesyoumakeup

For those others reading, I had a fairly large XEN based (dedicated resources) and was using a fair amount of the resources I paid for that were not disallowed on Exigent (and checking their site now it still is okay). I won't give away too much details as I don't want anymore random phone calls or emails from Exigent begging me to delete the truth.

        • We have removed our comment as we are now aware of who this disgruntled customer is.

        • Lmao, like I would waste my time helping you.

I'm giving up my time now to warn others of your terrible ethics.

    • they were at fault but lied and made up stories to try and cover their arses.

Looks like they might be doing it again.

      • +1

Probably, they seem to be doing better at avoiding the issues and using it to advertise their "services".

I'm willing to speak privately to a mod to explain the story that should help them being banned from here.

    • Hmm very interesting indeed, I read quite a few issues with constant DDoS attacks, seems like a weak network and quite a few customer relations issues…

However, for such prices in Aus people should be ready for some below average service…, I mean more than half the price would go to pay for their bandwidth, then what's left for maintenance and staff… ? I'd say barely anything… lol

Nevertheless, doesn't look all that good the more I search/read… sigh

My +ve vote goes only for the great value plan…

      • Hi buzzlight9

We've had some issues regarding the DDoS attacks and I can confirm that we are actually trialing some new applications on our network as we speak.

As I mentioned that we are certainly improving from the feedback that we received from our customers.

The removal of gaming services from our network as also greatly improved on a lot of things to do with our network as well.

        • "As I mentioned that we are certainly improving from the feedback that we received from our customers."

You mean your pissed off ex-customers.

        • Wow you guys have had a rough 4 years…, and going into such an industry you should have known that customers decide your fate…

I do feel for the customers as they entrust you to deliver a service, But then again I read that it was a choice that many took despite the bad reviews… O.o

I hope your new applications set things right; considering your prices I might buy an additional VPS in the near future, currently quite happy with Crucial tho… :)

  • What do you classify as "gaming services" It seems a bit vague?.

    • Hi notme

Anything that would host a game server or service from hosting a forum related to the game server through to the server itself (Minecraft server, Counter Striker server, etc).

  • How about voice services i.e Team speak, mumble, ventrilo?
