Jetstar $1 Flight Sale on 12th March (Member Only)

62

I THINK ITS A GOOD DEAL FOR FREQUENT FLYERS

Jetstar next Member only sale is on 12th March and you must join before 9th to get access. I am not sure about fares but they have claiming $1 fares or other cheap fares in the past. There's a catch to becoming the member as it costs $39.99 joining fee.

From their site:

Club Jetstar is a new membership program from Jetstar. For a once-off AUD$39 joining fee, and a low ongoing annual membership fee after the first year, it provides members with:

  • Exclusive access to at least 4 member only Club Jetstar sale events, including $1 sale fares, each year
  • Discounts and special offers from a range of our partners
  • In addition to the joining fee, an annual membership fee of $39.99 applies after the first 12 months
  • Both the joining fee and the annual membership fee are not refundable

Note: Jetstar Flight Voucher is only available at initial enrolment, and is not provided for membership renewals.

Exclusive access to at least 4 member only Club Jetstar sale events, including $1 sale fares, each year.

  • dont think this qualifies as a deal as joining does guarantee a $1 fare… only access to the sale…

    • its a good deal for frequent flyer

If you can actually get one which I expect to be near impossible or only one way.

I'm finding this akin to buying a $39 raffle ticket.

There's no guarantee that any of the sales will be to destinations that appeal to you, or they will fall within your time frame, or time of day frame… There's also no guarantee that when they do have a sale that interests you, you will be one of the lucky few who gets it.

  • Hmmmm im actually tempted to do this purely as i intend to buy 4-5 return flights somewhere for my 30th in June.

Anyone ever actually experienced the "sale"? If i can get a few $2 return flights i'll easily have saved a small fortune.

A quick google shows up a forum on whirlpool, it looks like the general consensus was that it was actually a decent sale and the website didnt fall over at all.

There's a joining fee and a membership fee, which I remeber correctly adds up to around $80. No guarantees on getting $1 flights though..

In addition to the joining fee, an annual membership fee of $39.99 applies after the first 12 months

You need to put that in the title.

        • Account settings lets you stop renewal. No sale up though.

        • +1

I don't think so mate it says in the title members only and membership details are clearly stated below.

  • Good to see Alan Joyce adopting the Costco model. How's it going so far?

    • Costco charges for each year !!! JetStar is trying to reduce its losses for the movement :)

      • +1

Unless I'm gravely mistaken the detail above suggests that Jetstar does also in this case.

  • The email doesn't say that it's is a $1 sale, it's for embers only but it could be any price

    • My email says its from $1.

Not a deal at all…. it's basically a raffle. Good luck with the hunt.

  • I'm going to KL with AirAsia instead.

  • Since it's not explicitly mentioned, it would be fair to assume that the fare may well be just $1, but not including the airport taxes (and possible other fees) which make up a big part of the price of airline tickets.

Those ~$250 AirAsia tickets we saw recently were actually $0 or $5 and the rest were taxes.

    • Only $1 fare that's it, they only charge extra for the add ons, luggage etc etc

      • Oh I see. In that case they are effectively paying the taxes the airport charges for you.

So they're moving people at a loss now, interesting strategy.

I've had great success with their club sales; doing flights next week $1 HBA to MEL & $1 MEL to Adelaide for me & the missus….. also got $7.87 flights home MEL-HBA …. also in error booked $1 flights Adelaide to Melb return for 2 in March, that's $4 I'll never see again….

    • What is the sale interval ? Like every quarter or randomly ? And are the $1 -$10 range fare only available for some funny time of the day, first or last flights of the day?

      • i think there was one july 31, and then october 10ish, and then im not sure if its counted as one, but they had early access to australia day sale, and now this one in march. so that may be the 'at least 4 per year'.

generally they are crappy times, so you've got to be able to take time off work etc to utilize.

i.e., sat night or sun morning flights, tues/wed 6am flights (and occasionally night flight too on tues/wed). So none of them from memory ever had a normal weekend route (e.g. fri night to sun night/mon morning).

and nearly always for 6+ months in the future.

  • Useless for those in WA…. we probably just get a free soda for every flight…

Do members ever get preferntial deals for international flights?

    • not sure what you mean by 'preferential', but there are sometimes discounted overseas flights, e.g. $99 syd->auck maybe. $199 somewhere to bali. $<200 to fiji

  • Do these sales include all domestic routes or only the shorter flights. Ie. Likely to be any Melb to Cairns?

    • +1

not all domestic routes, only a smaller subset. most airports would feature in at least 1 of the sales. e.g. GC would go to Syd. BNE probably to NTL or CNS. CNS to Syd or Bne, ADL to mel/avv. PER to ADL if lucky. HBA to mel.

mel-cns is unlikely, syd-cns and per-adl probably the longest routes. but who knows, might get lucky…

  • Will the website fall over as it usually does?

Will the payment engine freeze up and take your cash then time out?

    My experience in the past.

  • No $1 ! Cheapest $9

  • and looks like they've removed a lot of the night flight options - now mostly 6am flights. And not many sat/sun flight options either (last sale there was sat night/sunday flight options). So not very good at all

  • I'd be asking for a refund!
