  • How about the warranty?

    • According to CPL, it has 1 year manufacture warranty:
      http://www.cplonline.com.au/news/asus-refurb-nb.html

    • +6

For the EXTRA $ I'd spend it elsewhere any given day than dealing with CPL Warranty!!! Personal experience. DO A Search on "CPLONLINE" ….. warranty treatment experience! Once you send your money to CPL… if so it turns to be a DOA and need your money back… Only way they think you're gonna get your money back is to take them to VCAT! Won't matter to them if they lose some money over it…

      • For other product I would agree. But Asus will send a courier to pick up items for repair during warranty. So whom you bought it from is irrelevant when it comes to warranty

  • +9

    refurbished? PASS

    • +2

      Yeah. Was excited until "refurbished".

      • -1

        refurbished = factory second.

  • +2

this is the cheapest T100 I have seen so far but not sure if the risk of refurbish is worth it

  • +1

Just want to point out that usually asus gives a refurbished device if you have a broblem with your new device. At least this what happened to my friend

    • +1

      Gives or replaces?

      • Replaces :)

your comment reminded me of an asus laptop (UL30A ?) that i claimed under ASUS warranty when i was still in the UK. Quite a disaster because they fixed my brand new laptop and also caused extra distinctive scratches on the metal casing and a cracked hinge. annoyed the crap out of me and i spent countless hours calling Asus repair team to replace the unit but it was not easy at all. Eventually i got a new unit directly from the shop (carphonewarehouse) i bought the laptop from.

Not sure if Asus repair team here in Oz is more competent than those in the UK.

Anyone here already bought one of these refurbished unit from CPL can comment if the unit looks brand new or not?

      • +2

Your comments repeat my story, 100% word by word of an experience with OZ Asus recently in December 2013. I sent out my new Asus Lamborghini VX7 for repair but received it back with full of scratches all around. Rest story is same as yours….. I would hardly consider buying any Asus again, at least no warranty is better to save few bucks and avoid torture of countless calling their customer service.

        • OMG I also avoided ASUS completely since then, I almost forgot about it as this T100 doesn't have a metal case. I remember the stress wasn't worth it and I sold the laptop a couple of months later, worrying something else might break again. I even bought a spare original ASUS battery with it!!.

I wonder if it's just some of us very unlucky with ASUS laptop.

        • I am posting this from an el-cheapo Asus X43SJ laptop, 2.5 years old and going very strong. Actulally even dropped it a couple of times from bed to floor-mat and it still has survived. And yes it was just a 450$ laptop. I have done lot of upgrades myself though, 8GB RAM, 480GB SSD. Only issue is that the keyboard kinda gets hot ! But laptop is almost on 8 hrs a day every day.

    • +1

That is why you get a refund and do not accept repair or replacement.

Something feels really shady about this deal because they suggest the items are in stock for 2 stores yet expect payment to be done 24 in advance of collection. Makes me worried that the refurbs are in terrible condition as I would like to see them first in store before handing my money over, but I can't given they expect payment 24 hours In advance, sight unseen. I'm planning to go into their store tomorrow and if they don't let me look at one first before paying then it's a no go for me. They either have them in stock or they don't, however advance payment prior to collection seems dodgy especially when their other products don't require this.

    • Have you gone there yet?

      • +1

Bought one from West Melbourne and it's as good as new. The brown box it was in was pretty beaten up but inside it the unit was well bubble wrapped. Also comes with the office license, charger and refurbished warranty from Asus. There's no manuals or any retail packaging. Feel I got lucky cause the unit is in perfect cosmetic condition. There's no opportunity to inspect it prior to purchase because the box is sealed with security tape from Asus. Awesome deal! Get it whilst you can, West Melbourne only had 2 in store.

Neither refurbished nor in the under 400 range. Besides, the "this" is heavier and unbranded.
But yes, I would also avoid this particular t100 "deal" (for who is the deal? the seller?).

      • Neither refurbished nor in the under 400 range.

        Refurbished is not a benefit.

        • I meant that a buyer of a refurbished T100 under 400 clearly is trying to save while still buying a branded product. Anyway, it is hard for me to see why the 599 ALDI product is relevant for someone looking seriously at this deal.

        • don't been to but in but. I bought this from CPL a few days ago. its in brand new condition.
its pretty much new, properly boxed sealed and packaged. I a full body inspection not a dent or scratch of this. and screen and stability. everything is working great. worth the saving.
          wat sucks is CPL service.

      • +2

Medion is not unbranded. It has money to be major sponsors in F1. And its huge in Germany.

    • The Aldi unit says 10hr battery life with combined batteries, but how long will it last on tablet battery alone? I am guessing less than 5hrs which is borderline acceptable.

      • Don't forget you have a 60 days satisfaction money back guarantee no question asked. Can CPL offer that?

  • The T100 is sold new with Office Home and Student.

Can't see any mention of that on the CPL listing…

    • It has all the contents as the brandnew one. I bought it has office to. dont trust CPL customer service. worth it tho. once you survive dealing with them

  • +1

Funny how refurbished iPads don't get the bad run that this offer has.

    It's all about perception, people.

    • +1

Yeah, I don't have problems with refurbs if they have decent warranty. I've purchased two 2012 Nexus 7 refurb tablets and haven't had any dramas. The warranty is through Asus so I'm not concerned. I think I'll wait and see if these T100 refurbs get sold by other sellers and if the price comes down first like the Nexus 7 did.

  • has anyone bought this?
can a baytrail atom stream a 1080P 10bit MKV from a wired network smoothly?
    I only tried A ULV core 2 duo which cannot, but a i5 3rd gen can :D

    • +1

Just tried play Pacific Rim 18GB MKV from a wireless network very smooth.

    • without additional hardware no it cannot as it doesn't have Ethernet onboard :D
Anyways can't answer you on that as I don't have any 1080p content, going to try p when it finish downloading though.

      • ok so 2160p 60fps no go, 1080p 60fps is fine. tested with big bucks bunny.

  • Hey guys,I was suppose to originally suppose to make a post about this a 3 days ago. I first discovered this
on CPL's site on the start of the week. they said they will get stock next week, but the CPL west branch in melbourne manage to get one in stock.

the only pain about CPL is the waiting and customer service. But once you get through that its worth it.
this model retails for around 599 (64GB) model brand new bak then went lowest to 449. I would say save the 100-150 bucks. I bought this and opened it instore just to make sure. the box was the original retail box and blue asus seal, just as you do with any brand new asus product. It came with all the contents including Microsoft office student license. same the new brand new, heck you can even say this is brand new.
the item was wrapped as the brand new item. I have done a detailed inspections of the tablet.
there is no scratches, defects, dents whats so ever. I have ran screen tests to check for dead pixels or defects, stability tests for about 12 hours on this machine to ensure its stability, everything is in perfect condtion

Worth the 359 price you get it for. But I do advise once you get it. is you update everything using asus live update because there is an issue once its sleep. it will not wake up at times. a bios version above 227 fixes that issue but i also suggest you grab the latest 303 bios which for me did not appear in asus live update. it further improves the devices battery life. ( I suggest run the bios updates included in asus live update first, then grab the 303 bios from the asus site if it doesnt appear in live update)

atm I been using this laptop for casual browsering since 11am its now 4pm at the time of posting this and its currently on 41 percent. I just thought it would be good to get it out there. as for CPL they have horrible customer service. but if you can deal with that. this is a worthy buy

    • 599 is rrp but you can get for 499 at goodguys or price match at officeworks for $474. Not trying to reign on anyone parade and understand this is refurbished so what I mentioned is pretty much unrelated to this deal. I was tempted to buy this from CPL last week too but decided not to.

Either way its a pretty good toy. I don't mind the fat bezel in laptop mode, tiny keys though so pretty hard to type on but much better than tapping on the screen.

    • Did it come with Office?

      • "It came with all the contents including Microsoft office student license."

        • Full version or 30 days trial?

        • Full

    • Cpl service isn't great but it's worth it at this price. I called up first to check if they had stock and then drove to west Melbourne to collect. Took about 25 wait in store but I got the item. For me there was no retail box, just the unit, charger and office license. Item in perfect physical condition. It was in a brown box with Asus security tape to seal it. I also inspected the item instore after paying.

  • Can the T100 plays Full HD 1080p movie without lag?

    • Easy mate.

      • Thanks, will check out the Aldi $599 next week. It could be twice as good.

        • Use twice more battery I reckon.

        • If that's the case, you can return it after 55 days no question asked.

  • +3

I also bought it from CPL Notting Hill
I was WATING 25 MINUTES after I paid.
and I asked why it takes so long? they just said sorry just wait
Then they took the one from the display stock and said "all refub stock were displayed and no one touched it"
and said, that is the last stock.
ok that was fine.. but the problem was… THERE WAS NO OFFICE LICENCE IN THE BOX
I thought the office is installed already but after few research on internet, I knew that key should be in the box.
The Box was opened when I bought, the laptop was touched (by seller) but I didnt know they took the key from the box.

YES, IT IS KINDA SCAM IF IT WAS INTENDED.

I'll go their shop tmr then hear what they say.
    minus 1 for their service

    • +2

Thanks for letting us know CPL is a doggy seller!

    • a 25 minute wait to collect goods is standard at Notting Hill. They may serve you a little faster then MSY, but you won't walk out any quicker.

The ONE thing they need to improve before making special promotions is to sack the current warehouse guy and streamline the picking service.

They have been known to be bad for this for YEARS. On occasion, I swear the Asian guys smirk at the most frustrated people waiting for goods to be handed over. They have a great range and generally good prices, but come across as a bunch of smug cartel operators.

And don't forget 'the boss HATE MSY!'.

  • Surely the battery would be fine?

  • How would this compare to the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 in regards to performance and the lag in Android?

  • I purchase an Asus Video card for around $600 warranty process went for over 6 months I also got Asus involved, what I found out is that they first sent out my card to the CPL wholesaler then it was up to them how they want to action it repair or replace. Asus never got my card I confronted CPL with the evidence they did not care now I spend my money else were.

If you buy Asus product do your own rma with Asus you know they will get it.

  • I got a few tablets from CPL.. no problems, decent price, delivery tracking, no complaints here!

    • birds singing harmoniously… till you hit a warranty claim… pray you won't have to!

I won't be supporting goons who are borderline scam artists who regard little for Australian Consumer Laws and are quite rude to customers chasing up warranty claims. DOA items with less than 7 days claim gives every right for the CLIENT to ask for a FULL REFUND!

Everything is refurbished from Asus these days. Quality gone downhill.
