  • TGG Bankstown NSW refuse to price match. Grabbed one from officeworks with 5% off. using GiftCard got another 5%.

  • could someone please post a picture of a receipt? mummy just got charged $558 as they didn't take the 5% into account. would be nice to be able to argue that it should be $235 instead :)

  • Went to OW. They had changed the price to $248 and asked me that "where did you find the note 8 cheaper than this price to price beat" :).

  • I bought one at OW for $248. OW has dropped its price to match Bing Lee. I'd have bought it from Bing Lee if it is close to me.

  • i bought one at officeworks highpoint today, no body know about the price of binglee. so im the first person, then i go out side the store and ask if my cousin want to buy one, then i go in store again to buy one more but they told me out of stock. i thinks they dont want to sell with that price so they said that :(

So no up vote for the OP?

Chris, the bloke with the coke bottle glasses at OW Werribee was utterly horrible to deal with today.

I rang the store and they agreed to put the tablet aside for me and price match this bing-lee. then when i got to the store Chris started lying and making excuses as to why he couldnt price match. The best excuse he came up with was that although the bing lee website stated they were in-stock, they were in fat out of stock and wouldnt be honouring the orders..

Fortunately i was able to ring bing lee and confirm that was bullshit, the lovely rep at binglee even spoke to OW for me … ridiculous OW have these policies then do everything in their power to dodge them

Wow what a horrible little bullshirter.

Had that common Ozbargain mental battle - it's a great deal, but do I really need this - I have a perfectly good Nexus 7.
Decided that the best course of action was to drink a bottle of my recently acquired Vinomofo wine to assist the decision making process. Ordered one. Thanks OP (I think).

  • hi ,anyone pls tell me? in the officework receipt , i found 3 line number ,but dont know which one is the receipt number , one under the day, month year , one got the letters RRN at front, and one at the barcode code , so which one is correct?

    • I went with the RRN.. but I also took a pic of the receipt and attached it.. so I think it'll be fine.

    • Barcode one at the bottom (learned today)

      • oh noes… Hope they still honor my claim… fingers crossed…

TGG staff @ Crossroads are good. They did price match and got it for 247.00 :) But they called Binglee to confirm the price.

    • TGG at Tayors Lakes and Melton won't price match with Bing Lee. Gave no reason.

    • Got mine there , they are so great with price match.
Must of gone after you because the dude told me the model and price b4 i got a chance. So $147 after cash back & Amex, awesome.
Crossroads store is my got to they are so nice.
Last time I price matched the Iconia there, I asked for an extra 5% to match Officeworks pricematch and they went sure absolutely.

      • You are lucky. My local TGG said would only price match WA stores despite I said the price guarantee on the website did mention online too. Emailed my complaint to their customer care to see what they have to say.

  • Anyone know if the Logitech F310 controllers from a previous deal on here will work with this tablet? I'm thinking about replacing my old HP Touchpad, which is starting to get on a bit.

Does this unit have a GPS?

    • Cotd might not qualify for cashback

      • Well they advertise the $50 cashback offer, so they probably do.

        • Yeah u r right.

    • Yes GPS onboard,
Spec's are listed on the bing lee site

  • Can't believe this is still in stock at this price!

    • I have heard that they are many back orders for online via BL…..

      • Dunno but I got this email stating it's shipping yesterday afternoon:

        Hello, XXXX
Thank you for your order from Bing Lee.

Your shipping confirmation is below. Thank you again for your business.

Your Shipment #XXX for Order #XXX

  • Went to officeworks blacktown - told there were "none left" after the salesperson's manager said to the salesperson that "we don't price match with bing lee because they have no stock". Feels like they said there was no stock because they knew I was going to price match.

Well, I'm off to bing lee now because they DO have stock.

  • Ordered mine from Bing Lee, no haggle no hassle.

    They got my business!

Been told by ow on the phone when i tried to order, they said we can't get cashback if we buy from ow, is it true or bullsh*t ?

  • I ordered mine yesterday and was about to collect it from Bing Lee Hay Market today. Then I got a call from store earlier that they have no stock left and will contact me again later for collecting :S I guess Bing Lee has been ozbargained. Sigh, what am I going to over the rainy weekend :P

  • Ordered one from BingLee for delivery. I went to OW and JBHifi in Werribee for a pricematch but they stood firm, still selling for over $350.
I have a preference to Nexus 7 but after fiddling with Tab and Note, I prefer the Note. For me, Nexus 7 is just a stock Android without the phone caller. Feels like a toy among my everyday stuff like iPad and Galaxy S4, unlike a proper writing tablet in the Note 8. Just my 2c.

  • It seems Bing Lee is just about out of stock… need to "Contact for Stock Availability" via live chat or telephone.

  • FYI If anyone is interested, Bing Lee in Fyshwick ACT has plenty (about 10-12 left when I grabbed one at around 2pm). The display still shows $374, but scans at $248. I was talking to the sales guy, and he said that someone had come in and bought 10 yesterday!

    • Broden's back

  • Just spoke to Bing Lee live chat, looks like all stores are out of stock and they advised they are not restocking it… Bugger missed out!

Bing Lee - Thornton N.S.W. had stock late today (7-10),
I got a price match at TGG at Greenhills (East Maitland) as I had gift cards remaining (remember 20% off at AUST post back in 2012)
I kept them usable by purchasing (swapping) for new gift cards each 12 months.

    • After so many years of time value of money your 20% discount on gift cards is now a lot less. But good that you didn't just spend it buying junks.

  • +1

Just tried at OW and got rejected.

Guy said the Bing Lee was a grey import and rejected it. Said OW offer 2 year warranty, Bing Lee was 1 year so not the same.

Oh well. Not to worry. Should have just got it from Bing but wanted it today :)

    I'm I'm QLD.

    • TGG Greenhills Guy said the warranty is 2 years.
Also a Samsung sales expert was at Dick Smiths & said "2 year warranty doesn't mater where its purchased !

    • got the same type of response but then the OW dud was able to clarify that it had OZ manufacturers warranty. Still not good, cause no stock anyway at Bing Lee, so OW wont price match. Anyone know if OW are scanning at same price or do they have to adjust price manually? cheers

      • +1

Adjust manually. Still scanning at 348 when I went even though the're seemed to be many comments from OW saying they were 'just about to change' their price to counteract the price match policy

Went to OW yesterday night as had already spoken to a rep and the store manager said BIng Lee has up the price to $550 ( which is the most ridiculous thing to say ) I still keep laughing when I think of it but anyways bought one from that guy after hard pressing and saying I had already spoken to store rep before coming .. He said the policy for OW is to give 1 order per person so I can't have 2 as I initially wanted 2 when I ordered on the phone (which is another Bul Sh*T

Then thought ah well why not get more for family so went to another OW store and bought 3 more with the price match and beat by 5% which came to $240.13

    • Haha, fun stories

But should it be 235.6 after 5%? I bought 2 on first day at ow.

my friend asked me to buy him one yesterday but ow stuff claimed binglee has no stock anymore. I need to price match another company.

Anyway, quite a joy to use the pen.

      • Pats from Adelaide, no Bing lee in Adelaide!

    • $550 one is the 4G version.

  • It would be good to see if anyone has luck today anywhere with a price match, I went to OW last night to pickup a second one and they agreed to the match but only had the demo model left so didn't take the deal and while we discussed it the Bing Lee website switched over to no stock

  • I really wanted to get one for my sister for her studies but I guess I was too late. Just ringed Bing Lee and they are out of stock :(

Anyone have any ideas or willing to sell, I would really appreciate it, thanks!

Also anyone got lucky with getting this tablet from JB Hi-Fi? Because they are generally ok to price match their own invoice so thought maybe I can use that.

    Cheers…

  • +1

I called OW online to price match, the dude on the phone said he can price beat Bing Lee, started taking my details and then put me on hold to check 'something'. Came back to say that as BL don't have any stock he can't put the transaction through…. a little emotional black mail, the professionalism talk and he came around saying it was his fault that he did not check everything before he started taking my details..

so in short.. got 1 from OW online 240.43 incl del so i guess it comes to 190 after cashback

    • Do you think if you can put the invoice here I can go to a OW and match their own invoice?

    • Typical ozbargain spirit, nice catch

  • Just picked one up from Bing Lee Penrith NSW about 2 hours ago. Had more stock out the back but did not ask how many.

I am in WA and called Officeworks at Jandakot yesterday afternoon, where staff confirmed the price and stock availability. Sent my partner to collect one for me (30 minute drive), yet upon arrival he was advised they had one left which they had on hold for another person but would sell it to him for $374 as per their website. My partner declined because the staff had already confirmed the price of $248 and stock being available with myself over the phone. He had the staff look for another Officeworks with stock. He was then advised to to drive to the O'Connor store (20 minute drive) who had three in stock. Upon arrival at the O'Connor store the cashier grabbed one of the items for him, but she advised the item was not scanning at $248 so she had to call the store manager. The store manager advised they are not selling the item for $248 and would not price match, and the last three tablets were actually already on hold for other customers.

So after my partner called me, I took a screenshot of the Officeworks website which showed the two stores in question both showed the item in stock. This morning, I also took a screenshot which showed both stores still had stock (so the the 'on-hold' items had not yet been purchased?). I had my partner call Officeworks to ask why the stores area saying they have no stock to sell and items are on hold. Officeworks confirmed the stores had stock, but said today's price would be $374 as they have already been told that Bing Lee no longer has stock. After much discussion, my partner was called back and Officeworks advised a manager had authorized the customer service staff member to place a phone order for the item at $235.00 with a courier delivery for Monday.

    • +1

Well done OP and a big F for OW for wasting your partner's time and fuel.

  • I had one delivered to the store and received notice to pick it up. The store told me they had sold 9 this morning and none left. They sold mine! And who the hell buys 9? BTW to the smarty who did that. Samsung only allows one claim per same item so you bought 8 with no cash back.
Websales are at least going to send me one, better not be a returned unit or sthin.

  • 18. Multiple entries are permitted, subject to the following:
    i) only one (1) claim permitted per Participating Product;

Can you claim two cashbacks for two Note 8.0? Or they must be in two product lines?

    • Seems pretty clear to me. One per product. Guess you could use another name.

    • You can claim 2 device of the same kind.

The description means only 1 claim per serial number.

      I have done this previously!

  • I read that as one claim per product. Samsung are really tough on sticking to the terms and conditions with this promo.

  • Anyone know if this Asus Fonepad is a good deal for $248.00?
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/tablets/asu…

    • +1

It's basically equivalent to the first generation Nexus 7, aside from the phone capabilities and expandable memory. The 32GB 2013 Nexus 7 has gotten down to $269 at Bing Lee, so if you value a better screen, more RAM and faster SoC I'd say go for the Nexus.

  • can anybody upload their reciept please? I want to try my luck tomorrow.
    Thanks in advance..

  • Anyone from Adelaide recieved theirs yet? The couriers website hasn't even updated my tracking number yet….

    • Scratch that, arrived this afternoon, without being updated on the website! :P

  • Anyone willing to upload an OW or JB receipt/invoice? Trying to get one for my mother. She's currently using an ipaq rx4540… :\

  • Has anyone got their online order processed and delivered? Mine was sitting on 'Processing' for a while but then it went to 'Closed' and they refunded me. Disappointed that I didn't even get an email to tell me why!

    • I ordered this on 4th April after seeing deal on OZB. Got email immediately after from Bing Lee showing receipt and that I will get an email once it is out for delivery. Emailed them yesterday as still hadn't heard from them and they said they still hadn't received payment and to check with my bank. Bank said no issue with my credit card and if they had tried to take payment it would have gone through.. Sounds to me like Bing Lee got too many orders at wrong price and stopped taking payments.. Jokers…

  • Thanks to OP for this deal, got a price match with OW.

Now the cash back thing, lodged same day with Samsung and now says receipt accepted, waiting to verify serial. Anyone gotten their claim finalized?

  • Anyone having buyers remorse (after looking at the credit card statement) and want to sell theirs?

  • Well after all the hassle to get mine, I still haven't opened it. I am tossing up whether or not to keep it. My partner and I already have a 2013 Nexus 7 each and my son has an iPad 2 and an iPad Air (although he keeps asking for my Nexus 7).

I really like the idea of the stylus and my original intention was to use the Galaxy Note 8 for when I am assessing students computer skills (currently using a pen and paper for comments and marks then typing them into excel spreadsheet as found it very difficult to do on the Nexus 7).

I am not a teacher (but have an IT degree), I am just a parent (currently stay-at-home-mum), who volunteers two days a week at the local primary school to teach pre-primary students computer skills so not sure if it is worth me keeping the item or not (have been thinking of importing myself the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4).

    • Please PM me if you are looking to sell. :)

      • I'll let you know. :)

        • Shoppingexpress have them on sale for $299 ($249 after cashback) with 32gb card this weekend - might pull the trigger on that if no-one has the inclination to sell.

        • Price will drop further. New models and current model stockpile will push price further down. Otherwise new models cannot be priced as "reasonable" prices for consumers if producers were to make bigger profit.

        • I want it for an upcoming trip :S

The $50 cash back goes quite a way in covering future price drops.

        • I ended up returning mine for a refund.

  • How long does it take for Samsung to validate the serial number? You would think the validation of serial number is automated and the validation of purchase receipt would be a manual process.

  • -4

WARNING: SAMSUNG THIEVES WILL TRY TO KEEP YOUR MONEY

After you take 30 minutes filling out the form to get the cashback, you will continually the following message - over and over and over - every time you fill it out:

"There was an error processing your request. Please try again later"

So this is how you try to keep our money, is it?

  • Anyone else tried to follow up delivery of this Galaxy Note 8.0. I just got the rudest email from an alleged manager Tristan.

See this below. I can supply actual screenshot of this email from them.

    [email protected]

I will not be allowing you to purchase anything from Bing lee Online, not now or in the future.

The nature of your transactions/cards used and or method of transaction is considered HIGH risk by our security system.

    <MOD: Name removed>

    Manager.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the bing lee price when it was $248?

    Thanks

  • If Samsung do not pony up the cash back real soon, mine is going back. Still in it's sealed box.

    • Isn't Samsung trying to prevent customers claiming cashbacks then return the tablets for refund too?

      • Not my problem, I didn't invent the cash back BS.

If that is their worry, they should give the cash back to the merchant.

But again that would defeat the whole cash back scheme counting on purchasers being dumb enough to lose their receipt same day as they bought it.

  • For those wondering how long the cash back takes well I submitted a claim for the samsung kids tab on 31/3/14. They have yet to verify the serial number. I'd say expect a long wait.

  • +2

I bought from TGG and they won't honour their 30day price guarantee.

    Not happy jan.

  • Has anyone actually recieved the cashback?? I haven't.
