  You could just activate the key after your current subscription has expired. I don't think the key has an activate by expiry date.

  $12 postage is quite standard from PCCG. To compare it the cheapest satchel from Australia Post is $8.25 which is 500g regular post but express post satchel starts at $10.55 for 500g and then there's the handling charge. To make it worth while you could add an extra item that you might need into the order. But PCCG's postage charge is not too bad considering how much Australia Post charges for prepaid satchels.
