Why vendors have gone back to bundling Windows with these systems is beyond me given the number of Ozbargainers who picked up cheap Windows 8 licenses for a lot less than these OEM versions cost the vendors.

Surely this could be just an optional add-on and reduce the ticket price for the base unit by over $100??

"Windows 8 licenses for a lot less than these OEM versions cost the vendors"

Sounds good. Thinking of giving Win 8 a try. Where can i get one? Thanks.

don't, it awful, it makes baby jesus cry

  • Is this a good deal?

Any feedback on these guys as vendors?

do a search!!! CPL are borderline scam artist when it comes to warranty.. well with DOA 7day refunds anyway! They completely disregard Australian Consumer Laws…. coming from experience..

      • I have had the opposite experience. I returned a product with 1 month to go on a two year warranty and they took care of it for me no questions asked. I think your approach has more to do with the response rather than their disinterest in the law.

        • wrong.. the issue is not about the processing of warranty after the 7day period. My issue is consumer rights on DOA products, and the rights for consumers to CHOOSE for a refund (within 7days)… Consumer Law states it is NOT CPL that gets to choose.. let alone REFUSE.

The build itself is actually quite good, not the usual "gamer" builds that put in an i7 and a GTX630 that can barely game.
I agree with GWH, I'd prefer it without the OS included.
As for CPL, I've been shopping there for ages now and never had issues with returns, though as I always pick up it's much easier to return than if you have items delivered.

Have you ever returned something. I doubt it as it makes no difference if returning in person they will still argue and deny consumer rights until you wear them down or give up.
Stay away from them they are the worse of the worst when it comes to returns.

      • Yep twice, though it would be a few years ago now. Handled it as well as any other RMA I've had to do. Unfortunately a lot of the time it comes down to the person you're dealing with.

    $208 CPU: Intel Core i5 4440
    $87 MB: AsRock B85M-Pro4
    $99 RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
    $95 SSD: 120G Samsung 840 EVO
    $65 HDD: 1TB Seagate 7200RPM
    $309 Graphics: Gigabyte GTX760 OC 2GB

    $59 Power Supply: Silverstone 500W
    $108 OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
WTY: Manufacturer Parts Warranty + 1 Year Return to Base Labor Warranty

Total: $1123 + Assembly/Waranty (PSU priced sourced from PCCG/CPL/MWAVE, all other prices from MSY as always)

Pretty good, considering MSY would charge you another $70 for assembly/1 year warranty. Not bad if you're local and can pick up. Otherwise I'd sh*t myself if I had to risk shipping an entire built system interstate. :S

    • Hi, in-store pickup is available as well.

Hi can I pick you up in-store?

Stay away from these people. Complete disregard to warranties.

Seems like most pple dislike their shipping and warranty. The rep also don't bother to defend or reply to any negative comments regarding this. I wonder why would they continue to post on OB with new deals when only locals will buy from them. I'm sure there is a finite number number of people within local pickup distance who need buying new PC every week.

    • because they could care less for the small timers… they have a large corporate client base! We stopped dealing with them due to an issue of continued BLATANT LIES and REFUSAL to refund a DOA within 7days..!

CPL Reps have nothing to argue here other than claim to be bullied and reason out that their managers must have had good reasons… When given the opportunity to fix it with evidence laid out, they stop the chatter.. they even DELETE or EDIT their posts.. such as when the REP states a cutn'paste of their compliance to the consumer law statement.. then when I give them evidence.. they suddenly delete it and stops responding.

  • HEY CPL rep,
How about some new deals on NUCs.
    Can you beat MWave?

What about the new 2830 model?

  • Rep, have PMd you - am interested in pretty much this exact machine less the graphics card and gamer case for a home office computer.

    Would love to hear back…

  • Have also had problems with this group.

I suggest go and get your computer somewhere else.

I purchased a system which had a faulty DVD drive.
I contacted them and offered a solution to the problem. I asked them to refund just their cost of the DVD drive (Approx $10.00)
and I would purchase a dvd drive elsewhere. They told me they could not do this as they had to send the unit back to the manufacturer. I explained that with postage costs for both them and me it would be cheaper to refund me $10.00. They still insisted that I return the item.
So I packed it with bubblewrap, posted it and guess what! The said the DVD drive was damaged in transit. How convenient!
And as it was damaged it would not be replaced. Mind you they did say they will forward it onto the manufacturer for their assesment.
    Naturally it came back negative.

So if you wish to deal with these people do so with the knowledge that it may come back and bite you.

Yeah cpl is possibly the worst company Ive ever experienced with in regards to customer after sales support. Ive had near fist fights in their city store. Avoid this place!! They should be banned from posting on ozbargains the amount of threads on whirlpool and hearing other peoples experiences with them is just astounding that they're still in business.

Putting one of the worst operating systems in history on this is one big mistake. Why on earth not install Windows 7?! It's still available.
