  • Can this really take the dr 1070, cause that yields 10 000 pages or so. 10 times as much as the other one

  • +2

DR-1070 is the drum. The toner is the TN-1070.

    • +1

Thanks. Makes sense. I would go for this except 1000 pages per toner sounds a bit stingy.

    • +1

a third party dr-1070 is $39 off ebay.. This would push it to 10,000 pages. nice

      • +6

sorry, to clarify the above, you both need a toner and a drum to print. So you would need to change the toner every thousand pages and change the drum every 10 000.

        • Ahhh sorry, I'm a newb with laser printers. Thanks for clarifying that

  • If only I didn't spring for a colour multifunction laser, I'd snap this up. This is awesome value for a laser printer.

  • great price especially considering a 'compatible' toner cart is $35

    Bring on the landfill :(

  • Duplexer?

    • +7

Yeah, it has a manual duplexer - you take the paper out and turn it over :-)

    • Yes, it has a "manual" duplexer……

    • no (auto duplexer)

    • +1

      you'll be the duplexer :P

  • I missed the kyocera mfc deal. was hoping for another mfc deal would pop up.

A short and concise review of the printer for anyone interested…

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/brother-hl-1110_Printer_review

I have a different model (with duplexer built in) which I've refilled the toner (ebay resller) for general printing (quality is not as good as original toner but if your printing a lot of stuff where adequate quality is sufficient it works out quite cheap to print).

Brother/Canon/Epsom if youre reading this I have an idea:

Youll have much more success attracting MORE bees (read suckers) to your honeypot if you GIVE AWAY the printer for free with the purchase of any 3 cartridges!

It's like the inkjet printer scams. HP are the worst cartridges can be up to $70 and last the least. Until the chinese after market cartridges came along at $10 each. Ive been putting $10 cartridges in my Canon $800 printer for 7 years and its still going strong, same quality as the $50 genuine cartridge

  • Website says $45. ??

      use the code son…

For a better a printer & better running costs why not Fuji Xerox DocuPrint P355D for $184 (msy).

    Comparison.
    P355D $184 (includes 4k toner)
high yield compatible toner 10k $95
    drum rating is 100k

    HL-1110 $39.60 (approx 700pgs incl toner.. say 1000pg)
    +$35/ toner x 3 = $105.. brings it to $144.60 for the printer + 4kpages toners
the drum rating is approx 10k

so running cost is much cheaper on the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint P355D over this Brother HL-1110 with the next toner purchase.

ps- sorry for various posts.. sick in bed today. and nothing much to do..

    • You cant be sick if you can write :) oh oh your boss will find out

      • its ok.. i got the shuts (speaking nz).

        • man those oysters can be harsh

It's probably that Guzman Y Gomez deal from Monday lol

    • linux compatible?

  • +4

Why wouldn't you just buy the 2135W for about the same price when it's on special? Wireless/Network capable, better resolution plus other same specs, likely same toner usage.

  • +1

Far out, where was this deal when I was in uni!?!

Reminds me of the good ol' uni days where we'd print out 6 lecture slides per page, double sided lol

  • Considering the ink replacement of my inkjet printer costs just as much if not more, I'd buy this printer, problem is my printer still has ink left…

    • True. If you print heavily. better to buy a laser printer. Wish laser printer with scanner.

  • +1

    Thanks op - bought!

  • +2

Thanks OP. Just bought one. Code is still working so not sure why this has already been marked as expired.
