  • Ohhhh! Very good price.

Decent price, maybe clearing them out as there are newer Crucial 128/256GB etc capacity drives with faster performance.. Those new to SSD's like me, just be wary also, the specs listed on the Amazon page are for the 480GB and larger M500. Write speed on the 120GB is much lower: http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT120M50…

    • Depends what you were going to use it for I guess.

Bit of a performance boost for an older lappy for a fairly decent price.

        • -1

The Crucial M500 SSD would be a massive performance boost over any HDD for an operating system drive. What matters the most is the instant seek times but this drive even has specs of 500mb/s read and 400mb/s write. Way fast.

  • +2

Nice, but I'm waiting for the 480GB to drop below $200

    • Ditto, my current 120gb is feeling the pinch.

      • Move your programs and data to HDD and use SSD only for OS. That's what I am doing.

  • Any mSata for the same price out there?

    • nope.

    • Yeah, the 240GB is the same as the 2.5" (US$120 + shipping).

      • Thats been the same price now for ages, 75 for the 120gb, 120 for the (slow) 240gb, 235 for the 480

        • Wrong. The Crucial M500 240GB SSD that you're calling slow was $109.99 USD from Amazon less than 2 weeks ago. The drive isn't slow at all we're talking about 500mb/s read, 400mb/s write that's not slow. That's a massive performance increase over even the fastest HDD in the world.

        • 400mb/s write

          That's for the 480GB and 960GB variant. The 240GB is 250MB/s.

  • also Samsung EVO 250GB went down $10 to $139+$5.77 delivery to sydney, bought one yesterday, didnt bother to post another ssd deal since it was $129 few weeks ago… other capacities went even few dollars up

    Thanks op :-)

Doesn't beat the recent Crucial M500 240GB from Amazon for $109.99 USD. Twice the space for less price than two of those drives that makes up the equivalent space.

  • Excellent price! Got my 240GB M500 for $140 shipped from SE. Was my first SSD, totally blown away by performance increase from WD Green HDD!

Might grab a 480GB one once they drop to around $180.

    • I bought a 240GB M500, Silverstone 3.5" SSD bracket and Sata3 cable all for about $140 shipped from Amazon about a week and a half ago. That was the best time to buy this drive.

  • Amazon also have a PNY 240GB SSD for $109.99 USD and also has a $10US mail in rebate to bring price down to $99.99USD although not sure whether Australians can use rebates?

    • +1

Maybe not. That rebate terms says the offer is valid in the United States and Canada only.

Also this deal for Aus stock Sandisk Ultra Plus, has just been extended to 11/5. 128GB is $86 delivered. Extra 8GB and on paper better performance. Again larger drives offer better performance though.

  • Anyone know how to mirror existing drive on laptop keeping the Windows and factory data on it?

I can't seem to do this.

    • Which version? There are many programs out there that can do it, some free, some paid.
Here is a few free ones, or just google hdd cloning

  • Thanks for that.
