[Stock Level/Pricing Error] Olight H15 Headlamp $1.36 AUD with Free Shipping @ Gearbest

Moved to Forum: Original Link

First post by me.
This is more than likely a pricing error, but for $1.36 with free shipping…it's worth a shot right?

      I call BS on GearBest;

Email: This price was intended to be a clearance-only price on existing inventory. However, this deal was also a very limited stock offering with only 5 pcs available. While the clearance price was correct, unfortunately the item was out of stock when your order was placed. We are extremely sorry for any confusion caused. Gearbest will be providing you with a full refund for the item. We will be processing your refund shortly; please note that the payment method used will determine when the refund arrives in your account.

More like email address harvesting to spam with marketing.

      I hate this behaviour - a**holes.

I will NEVER ever purchase anything from GearBest now.

      • Why all the down votes? It's pretty freekin obvious what they're doing here.

Are you down voters really that gullible?

        • Because they clearly didn't intend it to reach a bargain site, one would assume they only wanted to clear out the few remaining units.

When they do their email harvesting, it's when they put hundreds of $0.01 LED pocket lamps for sale. This is not one of those cases. If you don't like it, remove your email from your account or don't use a "real" email address.

        • -3

'Clearly' is not a word I'd use where you did. Because to me: 'clearly' they were wanting 1 outcome from this item - harvest email & details for their future marketing.

One would assume this was nothing more than that.

I think you're just a little gullible if you believe this was an accident, but neg away regardless.

        • +5

If it had been posted by a gearbest rep, then yes, this would be obvious email harvesting. But it was not. I think they genuinely had this item on clearance, and if it was just browsed by natural users of their site (not ozbargain linked), it would never have been oversold.

However, as ozbargain manages to get thousands of clicks onto the one bargain in a very short span, it clearly messed it up. Take off your tinfoil hat.

        • Tin foil hat? What? Their inventory system mysteriously doesn't work for this item.

        • Its one complicated conspiracy if you think GB planned it. If it were true that they planned it, then GearBest would be the OP. Lionheart is not GB.

Just out of curiosity, how many $40 lights did you think they would sell for $1.36 before running out? Did you really think that if 1,000,000 were ordered, they would supply them?

You do realise that would cost them $39,000,000.

          Does that really seem likely?

        • How many lights do I think they would sell? I'm not sure of the relevance. I've never said and never will say they should honour this deal.

I do say that their reasons for the listing and its subsequent failure to establish the correct stock level sounds fabricated and doesn't fit my view of how things work - which is why the sceptic in me has risen.

Complicated conspiracy? Certainly not complicated. Post cheap item, wait for member of the public to find - get's posted, success. It's an incredibly effective method of finding more customers.

It's not a conspiracy, it's standard internet marketing tactics.

(Now… where's my shiny hat gone..)

  • Positive vote on hold.

    • +11

It's a first post from this person and the deal is is stock and can be purchased.
I think that is worth a positive vote now.
OP has done all they can and put the effort in to post (if legit) a great deal.

You could always retract your vote later if you need to.

  • +1

    Worth a shot

  • +11

Didn't need it, but bought it anyway on Ozbargain reflex (buy first, think later)

Use gearbest in USD to pay $1.34 by Paypal
    Just my 2 cents

    • +1

I see what you did thar.

    • Could you please tell me how to get PayPal to charge me in USD and convert to AUD? I linked it to AMEX, does it matter?

      • Change gearbest to use USD currency in the top right corner.

      • Also change charging currency in PayPal to usd
Which you need to do against your account in settings, as opposed to during the transaction.
        Google it.

  • $1.34 giving it a try..

  • I bought 5 cost me $6us :)

  • hmm, i'll bite, but i always wonder why a lot of these 'errors' happen over the weekend…

  • Probably a typo, but ordered 3 anyway. Cheers.

    Seems quite decent
    Review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bidXIeQ4Fis

Seems to go around $30 to $40

    • The reviewer looks like one of his precision hunter mates has shot out one of his lower teeth.

  • Gear best do have great prices. Possibly a legit deal.
Since the deal is active and is able to be purchased. OP deserves a + from me.

    • -1

Just calculated that according to their "RRP" it is 97% off! Doubt its legit but lets hope they honor it as they are a frequent rep here.

  • +5

With the amount of torches I've purchased just because they got posted on this site, I suspect if I strap them all together, and turn them all on at once, I'll harness the power of the sun in my hands. (Or at least, a close equivalent.)

  • sigh more LED torches..

    got 2

    • +2

That's the S model mate, not XM-L2 and no battery pack with the H15. If this deal isn't canned by GB then I'll be using Eneloops in mine.

      • Yep. But similar I guess. I need something to put my DS Eneloops in as well.

  • +2

Got 2, don't know what to use them for…

  • +1

still neutral on gearbest here, into the 4th week waiting on a previous deal..

    • It'll come. I've received both things I ordered from them. Took forever, granted, but it's free shipping.

  • +10

Bought 2, one for each hand = IronMan.

    • +8

  • +12

Just bought it. What is it exactly?

  • -5

    Thanks ordered 100

  • -1

Not going to bother. There's no way they'll honour it.

    +1 for effort though OP.

  • +3

Definitely a pricing error. If you add the 8% off coupon GBBEST, then the price magically jumps to $29.22.

That said, hopefully they honour it.

  • Got 2 … hope they come

  • Thanks

  • fingers crossed

  • I dont know what going to do with it, just bought one.
    cheers mate

  • Don't know what it is, but it cheap so why not!!

  • +1

Absolutely no idea bout this, but people appreciate and buying, why not me? BOUGHT one.+1

  • Could be legit and they're getting rid of the old model? Bought anyway. Search for it and you get this:

  • Picked up 4 of them. No harm in trying and they did not let me down on my last order from them.

  • +10

Here is an in-depth review of this headlamp: www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?341571
Amazing how people can write such detailed reports on a headlamp.
Bottom line. One can use it to shine light on things.

  • +1

Bought two for when one breaks. Also felt a little rebellious so didn't get tracking number @$1.99. Total $2.40.

Will update in September on quality. They will arrive by then.

  • We should start a forum post to share if we ever use this.
    Btw thanks op, got one.

    • +1

We should start a forum post to share if we ever get this.

      FTFY

  • +1

    Doubt if it will honoured.

  • Ordered one, let's see if it arrives :).

  • Bought 3

  • I got 10 - fantastic presents for out-doorsey friends :)

  • -1

    Bought 20
    Just under $27aud.
Whose house shoud i rob next ??
    :)

    • +3

      ….. rob next ?? ….

Implying that you are already into this activity?

  • How does that go on your head? Do you wrap the cord aroud your neck?

    • It comes with a headstrap.

  • Sold! Now waiting for the email to say pricing error ;)

  • Anyone received shipping confirmation yet?

  • +1

Ordered four. Don't like AAA's but worth a shot.
I also doubt it will be honoured.

    • Why did it have to use AAA's!? Don't they know we've all got thousands of AA Eneloops just waiting to be used!!

      • +1

I'm guessing to keep weight down as the battery pack is on your head

        • The cable on it seems reasonably long .. Either way, it would be easy enough to mod it to suit AA's. ;)

  • +1

Bought 5. Took pity on them and paid for standard shipping :)

  • -4

Those that bought more than 1 will have virtually zero chance of being honor.

  • +2

    Now let the dramas unfold…

  • cool thanks, got 4. 2 for me and 2 for xmas prezzies.

  • +14

Gearbest: Wakes up and sees the 500+ orders for item and smiles. Then sees the pricing error and frowns. "It's gonna be a long day".

    • +1

Gearbest: "Damn, pricing error…" Light bulb moment.. "I'll call it low stock and blame it on the fact that our system requires someone to be checking stock 24/7 to pick up these silly mistakes which our system clearly cannot do by itself".

Call a spade a spade and be done with it. People will move on quicker that way.

    • More like, awesome 500+ new email addresses to spam with products every 2 days…

Now let's think of some excuse to tell them all…

  • Bought 5 but they might allow 1 per order if we are lucky.
