Soy Protein Isolate - $50-60/4KG (Flavour Dependent) - Free Delivery and Shaker @ Venom Protein

60

I was looking for some new protein powder and noticed that Venom Protein may be clearing out some soy protein isolate that are expiring at the end of this year.

The unflavoured protein powder is 90% protein and works out to be $12.50/kg which is pretty cheap.
The chocolate protein powder is 88% protein and works out to be $15/kg which is still very cheap.

Free shaker and Delivery as well!

I ordered the unflavoured for the higher protein content/ gainz and because it was cheaper.

This is my first post, please do not destroy me.

  • Just curious, how come you prefer soy over whey?

    • I drink a combination of both. Whey after my morning work out and Soy before bed. I don't really have a preference as per say… Protein is protein. It's just the rate of absorption is a bit different for the two.

It's good for people who are lactose intolerant though! :P

      • Well it's not really all the same, I wouldn't be smashing a ton of soy unless you really need to [Insert further google search here].

You can get 4kg of WPC for $80

          no, you wont get tits
and where is it $80? thats really cheap

        • If its the tits thing, that myth has already been busted.
Secondly, Lean muscle gain is very important to me and I am already struggling to keep myself under 2000 calories a day, Isolate is preferred :(

Hahahaha not tits just soy in general. But everyone can choose what they eat.

          And it's $80 from venom.

        • its 100 from venom. with the nova coupon it is $86
whats wrong with soy in general?

        • Someone one conducted some tests which shows that it leads to imbalance in estrogen levels.
Soy contains phytoestrogens called isoflavones that may mimic the activity of the hormone estrogen in your body. The effects of soy isoflavones on human estrogen levels are complex. Soy is safe for everyone to consume in moderation and can have a modest effect on estrogen levels.

In my opinion, even though there are plenty of Mythbusters around, it is not worth the risk to consume soy every day. Whey is a better option.

I'm sure you can find arguments for and against but here are a couple. Venom states it's soy is not GMO which is a big tick.

But when WPC is only slightly more expensive I know which I'd choose, which is why I'm interested in the reasons behind using soy :)

          lactose intolerant people

Soy protein is slower absorbed, linked to better for new muscle growth.
Whey protein s absorbed quickly, great for muscle repair/ recovery.

I drink a combination of both for this reason.

Is "someone" your next door neighbour or a reputable organisation that does their research independently

        • what about a litre of soymilk a week

  • Hmm this is tempting, it pretty much gives as much protein per serve as WPI/WPC but at nearly half the price.

  • Soy is rubbish, people should read about soy, where it comes from, soil it has been growing at, is it genetically modified (most probably is, as most soy is. ) it's a 3rd world solution for poverty, nothing healthy about it, it's just a trendy food in the West at the moment, like coffee craze currently.

Dairy is rubbish, people should read about dairy, the fact that a typical dairy cow produces twice as much milk these days as her forbears did 30 years ago due to human manipulation, that dairy cows often eat nothing but soy + supplements (not so much in Australia but definitely in North America and many other parts of the world), the amount of somatic cells (ie: pus) allowed in milk might frighten you and it's a trendy food in the far East at the moment where they've only had soy for the last 5000 years.

        I loled.

I really enjoy reading these protein supplement threads. You get all kinds of people, misinformation and downright stupidity.

As an Asian, the amount of soy in my family's diet would probably be lethal according to drazenm.

  • If you are lactose intolerant and want slow digesting protein then Micellar Casein e.g Optimum Gold Standard Micellar Casein or similar is my choice. I don't touch soy.

    • +1

isn't casein a form of milk protein, hence not suitable for those who are lactose intolerant?

      • To keep it simple, lactose is a type of sugar and casein is a protein so if you are lactose intolerant casein is not going to bother you.
