The take a friend for free sale webpage is up and has been updated for 2014 dates. Sale ends 21 May 2014 23:59

Travel periods seem to be 10 Oct - 10 Dec 2014 & 3 Feb - 28 March 2015 for a majority of the flights.

The deal doesn't look like it's been enabled yet because the find flights button just times out

Edit: Looks like the site has been taken down. Will update if it comes back up
Edit2 : And its back up

  • Ooh tempting.. wouldn't mind going to Bangkok again for 400 each!

    • Will not really be $400, its $400 + taxes + airport fee.

      • It's $350 + taxes and airport fee, the original price was $700 so assuming about $100 of fees it's $400 ish each, which is what I paid last time :)

  • Great price for Ayers Rock, can finally go now :) When would the sale start?

  • +4

Good deal for the cities covered, shame there are no Japan flights included though.

  • +1

Thanks for the tip, just what I was waiting for as they didn't do a 2for1 for valentines day this year.
The site links to "uat.jetstar.com" and UAT in software development = "user acceptance testing" (Jetstar is the user/customer in this situation).
Jetstar often starts sales on Friday afternoon so lookout later today?

  • You'll probably make up anther fare with ask those fees that song you with

    • +2

Maybe you meant : You'll probably make up another fare with ALL those fees they HIT you with?

If you Bpay, only have carry on luggage, and don't need to change or cancel the flight, there are no other fees.

      • I think it was meant to be "sting"

        • +1

          I thought 'snog you with'???

        • Phone keyboards..

    • "Gong you with"??

  • +4

No Hawaii included in this sale.

    • spewin

      • +1

damn those were the ones i was looking for

  • When the 'sale' starts I'll be interested to see what is really 2-for-1
As example, SYD-OOL March 2015 is currently $49 per person one way, yet price for 2-for-1 shows as $69.
So, I guess 2-for-1 on full price fare.

  • This is the first time Japan has not been included. :(

    • Apparently there was a birthday surprise member sale yesterday.

      • +1

        That was only interstate mainly

        • I understand a friend got some great tickets to Japan yesterday as part of the sale.

    • No Honolulu either :-(

  • Good deal to travel to Melbourne within the next half-year.

  • Keeps timing out. Stupid "Access Denied" message…

  • +1

Looks like the offer has been taken down

    • +1

      perhaps sale not ready yet

      • Yup, seems not ready as yet…

  • :(

  • So did anyone manage to book a ticket? I just got continual timeouts.

    • +1

I dont think its launched yet. They must have noticed the traffic on a site that was only being tested. Keep an eye on it - im sure this sale will be coming soon.

      • I did notice that the site being redirected to after clicking "Find Tickets" was http://uat.jetstar.com/ - usually UAT means they are undergoing testing in preparation for go-live.

        • UAT = User Acceptance Testing.

        • Maybe they need a few OBers raising a few defects then ;)

        • Thanks mate, I am a software developer. ;)

        • Maybe we just crashed their test servers :D

    • Ugh I can't even view destinations

  • We'll need a Jetstar recession-buster sale once the draconian budget measures take effect

  • Can not access the site

  • For those that were able to access it and can remember.. What were some of the destinations they were doing? And any ideas when is meant to go live or if it's limited tickets etc?

    • +1

Most of Australia, wellington, Auckland, Bali, Bangkok and Phuket if I remember correctly. No idea when it is going to go live, I saw someone post about it on their Facebook and they acted like they knew nothing about it.

      • How frustrating, there goes my cheap Hawaiian honeymoon plans. Thank you though

    • +3
  • Not for me.

  • Nope! must have tried all possible avenues…. over a dozen times…time outs, redirects the lot!. They must be creating more enemies than friends on this one!
    No longer interested!

    • You do realise the sale hasn't actually begun…

      • Strange they have an end date, but no starting time…considering it is the 19th they will have to get a move on to accommodate travellers before the 21st end date.

Maybe you could illuminate the situation??? will the deal open and close on the 21st only??? and why have they released a TAFF special page with a "dead" link?

        • +1

They haven't released a link. It was found via ozbargain astuteness

        • Too bad the astuteness doesn't extend to knowing when the bloody thing starts eh?

  • +1

    It is available now here

    • Yes I can confirm I have just been able to make a booking on the "take a friend for free" sale. MANY THANKS TO THE OP ("PHADED").

    • That's what I'm talkin bout!!…well done!…I got a couple.
You may be in a pickle, but you're no dill!!..tar

  • No Honolulu ARH!!!

  • Got 2 return tickets to bangkok for $880 including 20kg baggage there and 25kg back as well as seat selection. $440 each pretty good!

  • I have been trying for a hour. Hasn't worked even once yet. Any tips?

  • Revoking my positive vote. Been trying for two hours now and have practically given up. It's not working, really.

  • Website is slow!

  • Got an email via Club Jetstar earlier saying I had early access to this sale. I logged in, bought a $78 MEL-SYD-MEL ticket for two, and everything went smoothly— no issues at all. However, I just finished buying a SYD-AYQ-MEL flight for $358 and that process took nearly an hour with the very slow site. However, $436 ($358+ $78 to fly two from MEL-SYD one way—unfortunately not within the sale period for the MEL-SYD leg) to fly from Melbourne to Uluru with an overnight Sydney stopover is worth it!

  • Anyone fancy singapore?

  • Just booked Queenstown for 4. Tried yesterday but website always timed out. Working now. Paid $1132 for 4 pax. Somewhat cheaper than the current AirNZ sale at $1552 for 4 and generally good for the end of peak season.
