wth. seriously? I booked mel - perth yesterday with tiger, 4 pepople. Luck me…

    • +30

      Luck you

    • flying tiger everyone wins.

  • Link says offer is available for travel 11-26 June (2 week window).

Where did you get 22 July-18 September and 15 October-11 December from?

    • Glad you asked this question TA, its on a TigerAir Facebook post about this sale. I don't understand why all 3 periods aren't posted on their website.

      • +1

        Thanks. Great deal!

EDIT: Some sectors have had their prices increased for this sale (nice move Tiger), but the Perth one is pretty good.

        • yeah it is cheaper than $101 pp… which I paid

  • Just booked 4 flights…great find.

  • Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I selected the dates within the period above (14th and 22 June), for some reason not all flights are 2 for 1 deal, some are showing as light fare.

    • The only reason I can see why it wouldn't work is because you're trying to book two flights for one person. This deal is 2 people fly for the price of 1. If you're doing that, I have no idea maybe give them a call.

    • or this:
"Seats are limited. 2. Mondays,Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays time restrictions apply."

      • ahhh that too, ill update the post.

  • do the $100 tiger vouchers stack?

    • ~sigh~ i've been waiting for somebody to ask this question..

Everybody calm down and prepare yourself..

Yes they do stack and no the coupons are not linked to a specific name so you can essentially get free flights. Unethical I know, but yes you can do it.

      • +9

There is no such word as unethical on Ozbargain :)

By the way, great deal! Cheers to the OP.

      • -7

Can you kindly provide any voucher numbers :P?

        • Bad question bra

  • Would JetStar price match do you think?

    • +3

Jetstar will price match for as long as it takes to get rid of Tiger so they can jack up their prices, yes.

      • Argh… I booked my ticket before I checked back with your comments…

      • Tried jetstar. Won't pricematch

        • +1

          What did they say?

    • I couldn't get Jetstar to price match, something about the free ticket for the 2nd person…

  • Hmm i am getting the full price for Syd - Mel on the weekend are there restrictions that i am missing?

    Edit: just saw restrictions

  • +2

    thanks great deal.
for those in melb, the travel dates cover the melbourne cup (semi) long weekend.
Melb to Perth return for 2 people for less than $300

    :)

    • Excellent stuff! Just booked Melbourne Cup weekend $187 for 2 return with $100 voucher.

  • how do i get the 2 for 1 deal?
when i check out they only ask for my details..and not for my "friend's"

  • hmmm…i wonder when the

    22 July – 18 September
    15 October – 11 December

    dates open up…

    • +1

they are in the system already, just not displayed in the travel dates column

      • I can see flights from 15/10/14 but when trying to book one it doesn't look like 2 for 1 offer.

        Has anyone booked a non-June 2 for 1 deal?

        • Has anyone booked a non-June 2 for 1 deal?

          yep.

It has a little tag next to it that says '2 for 1'. if you're only seeing 'lite' or 'early bird' for your dates, they must be sold out on the 2 for 1 flights.

Also, make sure you've selected 2 adults when searching

        • Thanks

  • -2

2 for 1 being screwed around! Where do I sign up!!??

  • Booked :)

  • Does anyone know whether Jetstar will price match?

    • I tried, no luck

  • I had a look at the deal, and so far, do Tiger only have the period 11 June – 26 June up?

  • can someone please explain to me how this works?
    I'm not seeing 2 for 1 at check-out.

    • The fare type is 2-for-1 when you select the flight's date and time (instead of early bird, etc)

  • what happens if you don't use up the full $100? Can you use the remaining credit another time or is it if you don't use the full amount you lose the rest?

    • You have to use it in one go!

      • thanks! :)

        • +3

If you don't use it all remember to upgrade everything you can to make the most of it! (like seat selection, baggage etc)

  • +2

I just booked Gold Coast —> Melbourne return in August, paid $70 in total with 2 x $100 vouchers.

$24 pp return! What a bargain :) Made sure to pay with a Debit MasterCard as well which shaved about $50 off the total.

It's going to be great. Taking two days off uni and we'll be down there for five (three whole) days.

    Now to find cheap accom..

    • +1

good but not as great as the $10 sale from Jetstar last year, I scored MEL - OOL return for 2 adults and 1 baby for $40 last year, in the end didn't use it.

      • I got a $10 Mel > Per during that deal. That was a damn good deal. BUT this one could possibly be better if you have multiple vouchers from the $100 tiger air vouchers deal.

  • Has anyone successfully gotten Jetstar to pricematch?

    • I tried, no luck

  • Thanks OP. Heading from Perth to Melb for a very quick weekend trip. $94 each return after the $100 voucher.

    • +2

      Cheap return tickets Adelaide>Perth
      … via Melbourne twice :-P

  • +1

hmm, i must of missed the deal for the $100 vouchers..

    • :o

Surely you are not a regular here

      • just so many damn good deals hard to keep track of them all :-)

  • Where is this $100 voucher?

Also about to book for Melbourne. $68 for service fee???

    • -1

      ssh.. nobody tell him..

  • Oops. Already booked flights for two. Couldn't even use the $100 voucher. It recognized it but didn't discount anything.

    • Mine recognised it, but then I had to click process payment for it to actually apply. Then the page reloading with the $100 discount showing, and the balance to be paid by credit/debit card.

      • How much did it cost before the discount?

        • Mine was $287.90 before the discount

  • may I confirm that there is a booking and service fee of 15pp that can't be avoided? thanks

    • debit mastercard?

    • If you use a Mastercard Debit card, there is no fee.

      • What's the cheapest / easiest / quickest way to get a debit mastercard to use for this?

        • I notice there are no card numbers on the photos on the website & it says electronic use only - will these woolies cards work (or are they only for the handheld eftpos machines)?

        • +1

I remember using my 28 degrees card and there was no fees

        • Probably not the quickest or easiest option, but ME Bank do a fee free account with a Debit MC attached.

Even if you use it for nothing else, its good free long term option for eliminating booking fees with Tiger and Jetstar and heavily reducing them with Qantas.

          http://www.mebank.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/everyday-tra…

        • Bankwest do the same with their Hero and Zero accounts. I haven't checked, but I'd guess the Qantas Frequent Flyer account would also come with a Mastercard Debit, and they might still have the promo with 10000 free points.

        • i used my friends Westpac mastercard, or my mum's coles' mastercard, both work.

      • thanks for that. but there's a 8.50 fee and another 15 one according to this? does the mastercard debit avoid the 15 one?

        http://www.tigerair.com/au/en/fees2.php

        thanks

        • 15 is if you book through the call centre

        • +1

Thanks yep I've booked no booking charge using mastercard debit. Appreciate the replies.

  • I booked 17 July to 20 July.

BNE to MELB return for $250 including checked bags for two people. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Great deal - don't mind if I do! :)

  • +2

Jetstar 2 for 1 sale is now on as of 2pm today for those posting they wished Jetstar would pricematch.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144441

    • Different travel periods though.

  • Trying to book 2 for 1 on melb-cns-melb on a Friday/Sunday 3 day trip in mid-late June.. Tried two different dates, neither would give the 2 for 1 discount.. Can't be a time thing, as it's in the date range, and there's only 1 flight a day (and they do advertise the melb-cns flights as eligible for 2 for 1…)

Anyone able to make it work, or tell me why it won't?

    Cheers

    • Best I could find was 1st - 4th of August (very early morning, practically still the 3rd).
I saw one 2 for 1 flight in june but it was only the one way to cns and it was on a thursday~
Very awkwardly timed flights by the looks of it, but.. cheap.

  • Thanks. Girlfriend and I pooled our vouchers. Got SYD - MEL return for $4.50 each. Includes 20kg of baggage and meals each way.

    • Hells yeah! This is the kinda stuff I want to hear! :)

    • +1

      Hope you've got an appetite!

  • ai, not good for 3 people…. 2 Adult and 1 child :(

  • If anyone wants to sell their $100 voucher tonight, PM me.

  • -1

About the $100 voucher, it has a use by date of 30 sept, does that mean the flight has to be booked by Sept 30, or does the flight itself have to be before Sept 30? i.e. can I book an october flight using the $100 off?

    • -3

      Seriously?

It's a voucher for purchasing flights/services. Once you book with it, it's spent, done.

      • -1

        Seriously?

It's a voucher for purchasing flights/services. Once you book with it, it's spent, done.

I'm not sure sure if you're understanding me. I wasn't asking if I could use the code twice. I was asking about the expiry date, whether it referred to the flight date, or the booking date.

        • +3

Pretty sure it relates to the booking date only. How are they to know (or care) how you paid for your tickets when you show up at the airport? In the off-chance it does relate to the flight date also, their system shouldn't allow you to book the flight in the first place. But I'm going to stick with my first answer. Lock it in, Eddie!

        • -3

Once you use the voucher, it's used. Deal done. Expiry problems gone. It can't expire if it's no longer around. Like booking with a credit card or passport that is about to expire before the flight.

I'm only muddying the water, trying to explain something that was clear to begin with.

        • No you numbnut, read his posts again. He is asking about the validity dates for booking vs travelling, not about how a basic voucher works!

        • -1

          Oh the irony!
It's bleedingly obvious, spelt out several different ways, and you still can't grasp it. It's part of the obvious basics of how a voucher works. Did you comprehend it when Rambutann & muncan said it??

The VOUCHER Has An Expiry. Spend The Value Of The Voucher Before The Expiry. Done. Completed. Finished. Date Of Flight, Passport, Credit Card, Breakfast Cereal, Birthday, Next Full Moon, Next 1 Direction Tour… Will-Not/Can-Not Have Anything To Do With It. End Of Mind-Bending Insanely Complex Puzzle.

Please leave the internet. You're not ready.

    • +3

Yes lostn, you can book flights for whenever you want as long as the voucher is used by September 30.

  • I have a commsec master debit card sitting in my draw that i never use - anyway I went to pay and it came back and said declined. Turns out I stupidly forgot to activate the card and commsec say that it's no longer on the system.

Anyway I selected "master debit" and entered my 28 degrees card and it looks like it went through anyway!! I guess time will tell if I get charged the fees or not.

    • They discontinued commsec accounts and issued everyone a commonwealth debit card as a replacement. I did not bother activating that either, though it's probably still there in the system.

    • It went through without booking fees?

A couple of people have mentioned 28 deg and Coles MC working without fees. Maybe Tigers system can't detect the card type based on the number and merely assigns fees based on the card type you select on the page. I can't see them adding fees later on.

      • Yeah I can confirm it went through without fees. I don't think they can tell between Mastercard and Master debit and purely select your fees based on what you specify.

        • Cheers, handy for those who only have a Mastercard of the credit type.

Now I'm wondering if Jetstar and Qantas have the same loophole. Before they were forced to offer a fee free option of payment, there was no need for their systems to detect between debit or credit MC. Upgrading them would probably require access to info from Mastercard and may have been put in the too hard/costly basket for now.

  • Will it work if you have 2 adults and 1 children? Will the 2 for 1 apply to the 2 adults and you pay normally for the child?

Where's Perth from Brisbane? sad face
